This is the kind of place I seek out in a town, small, local, with a real sense of what it is. They have a bar with lots of options and maybe 4 booths and a long skinny table and that's it. Though they did also squeeze a nice shuffle board table in there and that is always fun. I have been a couple of times and each time people I have been with have gotten the pizza and they universally report good things about the pizza. They have a menu that also featured creative burgers and sandwiches. I have gotten burgers both times and unfortunately I have not loved them. The idea for really great burgers is there but the execution falls apart. The burgers both times have been charred beyond the point of pleasant to the point of a little burnt and bitter. And both burgers were intensely salty. Now I like salt more than anyone else I know, to the point we're friends and family give me grief about my salt intake and I'm the one saying these burgers are too much. The reason to go here is clearly the pizza, the beer selection, and the fantastic staff. But I wouldn't go there if I had a group of more than 4 just because of the space they have available.

The food is just ok. I do think this is a Nebraska thing…read more A Runza is basically a hot pocket filled with ground beef, onions and cabbage. The service is quick. Not sure I would go back. By the time I ate mine, it was soggy. And I am not a fan of soggy bread. So I wasn't very impressed with it at all. Again I think it's a regional food that is loved by the locals.

Let's talk about how the hands-down greatest fast food location in Nebraska has spent years sliding…read moreinto mediocrity. This review covers all Runzas not just the one in Seward. Runza is a Nebraska based chain. That is a hometown favorite across the state. Growing up they were famous for having fresh handmade large beef patty burgers that would fill you up. And their titular Runza That made them famous, is a staple in most Nebraska household. Their onion rings were legendary, and they invented something They called onion ring dip that was the first dip option I ever encountered that cost extra and was worth every penny. The best of the best, the pinnacle of fast food, the thing I would demand, growing up, more than a happy meal, more than ice cream, was the Italian Runza. I imagine the Italian Runza is what the Israelites called Manna when God provided it to them in the wilderness because I cannot imagine anything closer to food from heaven. Then as time went on it seems they have started to cut corners and compromise on standards. I think the first sign of trouble was when I noticed they stopped, calling their namesake Runzas, going with: "Oven stuffed sandwiches" instead of simply Runzas. I imagine it was a move by some marketing team trying to justify their fees. But have confidence in what made you famous. Don't second-guess yourself and start tinkering with a tried and true classic Then The once fantastic burgers that could fill you up became thinner, and I have no proof but suspect frozen. They don't taste fresh and they're not as filling or satisfying anymore. They used to have a burger they called the legend supreme. It was a perfect mix of the ingredients they had on hand from various other burgers combined into perfection..... they don't offer it anymore. They still have all of the same ingredients on hand. But if you try to order it, you get met with confusion, and if you try as I have to order a burger and customize it with the ingredients of the legend supreme, you are rolling the dice and will get it correct about 50% of the time. The once famous onion, ring dip, so good that in college, when my friends would want to go somewhere somewhere else for food, I would drive through Runza afterwards and get two sides of dip so I could put it on other restaurants food to make it better, changed its recipe and now they just call it French onion dip and it's just OK. I wouldn't drive across town just for dip like I used to anymore. It is so mediocre that some of their locations don't even serve it today. Don't forget to pour one out for the passing of Lincoln's "rock 'n' roll Runza" the place where I always wanted to celebrate my birthday is growing up. Even the construction of the Runza sandwich itself has changed with the times. And the WORST tragedy, the thing that makes me melancholy at least twice a week every week, they took the single greatest fast food item ever created, The mana from heaven itself, the Italian Runza off of the menu. Once in a while, like every five years, they will bring it back for a week or two just to remind you how good you could have it if only they would allow you to. It's like they want to tempt you with happiness only so they can pull the rug out from under you and watch you cry for the next five years settling for just OK sustenance. They have done other stupid things like taking away the large size and making all their fries, onion rings, and frings one size fits all on their value meal. And they are constantly rolling out gimmick burgers of the moment that don't satisfy. But let's not wallow in the minor inconveniences. We all know the loss of the original onion, ring dip recipe and the Italian Runza are why we cry ourselves to sleep at night. If you are looking at trying this restaurant for the first time. It is OK. It is as good as any fast food you're going to find out there. You probably won't be disappointed because you won't know what you're missing. It is interchangeable with any other fast food option you might be considering.

I sat at the bar and had phenomenal service. I got the Aragon burger with a tallow fries, covered in bacon jam! I will have to say, this is one of the better burgers I've ever had in my life. It came out very hot, juicy, and cooked perfectly. The sauce is super yummy. But it's a grilled onions that really make it. The fries came out hot, crispy, and very tasty. This is a phenomenal restaurant with some very good food. Unless you're lucky you get a seat at the bar, I'm sure reservations are required.

Service was very good. We were seated promptly and asked if we were ready for the next course at appropriate times. We had the 3 course dinner with the summer salad, lasagna Bianca and steak. I personally thought the salad was the best! The array of flavors was very satisfying from the crunch of the pine nuts to the smoothness of the ricotta to the tanginess of the dressing. Would highly recommend. The lasagna was good... but very one note... and that note is "richness". It didn't really taste like anything more, which in effect made it not much different from an ordinary lasagna I could make at home and not pay that much for it. The steak was not well seasoned, which I wouldn't have minded but the cook was a bit beyond the medium rare I asked for. Overall I probably would be back to try something else. But dish is still superior in terms of fine dining in Lincoln in my opinion.
