Great date night spot in downtown Lincoln! We called ahead for reservations and really enjoyed the smaller, more intimate atmosphere--it was perfect for conversation and a relaxing night out. They do require a credit card to hold the reservation, which was easy enough. The waitstaff was excellent--very attentive, pleasant, and helpful throughout the evening. We went with the tasting menu, which made dinner feel like more of an experience rather than just a meal. It was a fun way to enjoy several different dishes throughout the evening, and the food was excellent. The wine list was also sufficient with some very good options. I was in Lincoln and craving a burger. Yelp steered me towards this awesome restaurant. It's a fancy place, and not cheap. But you get what you pay for! I sat at the bar and had phenomenal service. I got the Aragon burger with a tallow fries, covered in bacon jam! I will have to say, this is one of the better burgers I've ever had in my life. It came out very hot, juicy, and cooked perfectly. The sauce is super yummy. But it's a grilled onions that really make it. The fries came out hot, crispy, and very tasty. This is a phenomenal restaurant with some very good food. I liked the ambiance of this place as we walked in. It felt very intimate. We had reservations but probably didn't need them... wasn't sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing. Service was very good. We were seated promptly and asked if we were ready for the next course at appropriate times. We had the 3 course dinner with the summer salad, lasagna Bianca and steak. I personally thought the salad was the best! The array of flavors was very satisfying from the crunch of the pine nuts to the smoothness of the ricotta to the tanginess of the dressing. Would highly recommend. The lasagna was good... but very one note... and that note is "richness". It didn't really taste like anything more, which in effect made it not much different from an ordinary lasagna I could make at home and not pay that much for it. The steak was not well seasoned, which I wouldn't have minded but the cook was a bit beyond the medium rare I asked for. Overall I probably would be back to try something else. Wow! Top notch food, vibes, service, everything! I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in Lincoln or passing through Lincoln as a pit stop. My husband & I shared the oysters & baked Brie, I had a special mocktail & my husband a beer. I had the Gnocci & husband had the special for the night Prime Rib which he said was FANTASTIC! My Gnocci was great but I'd try something else next time, I kept seeing the burger and it looked 20/10! We finished off the night with the Apple pastry for dessert and oh my, it was so good! My dinner experience at Aragon Tavern went well. I was greeted at the door & asked where I would like to sit. The server met me promptly & gave me enough time to order. She told me they were out of the Ambrosia cocktail, so I went with the Thorn & Thistle, 10/10 drink--from the sage, bourbon & fruit garnish chefs kiss!! My entree was the sopressini, I added a medium cooked steak & it was SO good. Portion sizes are a lot as well, I took it to go. Had a really great date night at Aragon. Seating is very limited but came in to see if we could go to our reservation early which they were able to accommodate. Had a wonderful server who was knowledgeable about the menu. We started off with the berries and Brie which wasn't really for me but it could be right for others. I ended up getting their special prime rib which they only offer on the weekends. It was cooked exactly how you would want it cooked. The rub on the edges gave it a nice kick of flavor and the sauce it came with fit perfectly. Now the silliest complaint I had was the steak knife. The steak knives that they bring out aren't sharp. I thought I might just not know how to cut with it but the guy at the table next to me also was trying to cut his and his wife ended up holding the place because the knife wasn't cutting through. Definitely a great experience! I had a couple of offers on GrubHub and decided to check this place out for a relaxing lunch at home. Even though I was only there for a few minutes, the staff is quite professional and friendly. They even saw my kind request asking for some sauce with my fries and gave me a couple of options (Tavern Sauce & Ranch) to try as a newcomer! Better yet, they even wrote a Happy New Year's note on my takeout box. :) The food was quite good! I've had a (delicious) Steak Salad from Certified Piedmontese/Casa Bovina to-go and was really looking forward to trying a hamburger made with such high-quality beef... and it did not disappoint. Cooked to perfection (medium with a little pink), the burger was perfectly arranged for takeout and paired well with the toppings. I chose the Surf & Turf, as it stood out, and would recommend it if it catches your attention. The fries were coated in an excellent blend of seasonings but were a bit more flavorful than I would've preferred. However, this blend pairs *perfectly* with their Tavern Sauce and is the perfect choice for anybody's side. I'd also try their ranch, as it appears to be house-made with a variety of spices. If you like super salty and garlicky than you are good. I had the Philly 'missing cheese' stake. Cheese was un-dectable. The meat was good but disquised by all the salt and garlic on the bread. Served with what would have been great fries if not for the super salt/garlic treatment. Nothing fresh to break the cycle. LAM had the reuban, without the crout and again no cheese visible in the sandwich and the bread was drenched in the salty garlic mix. (Getting fries at a more "upscale" place is always nervy because you just expect more, and they were up to snuff, especially with the sauce.) We were quite disappointed all around. We had expected a fine dining experience, but that's not what we encountered. The food and service were average at best. The food was OK for the most part, about what one would expect from a standard mid range restaurant. My wife's burger was tasty, but a bit small. It didnt even fill the bun. It was good meat, but not $34 good. My red snapper was very dry and flavorless. The turnips were good though. The fries were awful, and the dipping sauce just made them worse. The service was also just ok. They had one waitress serving several tables. She brought our food out in 4 trips, taking several minutes. It was not only awkward, but the food cooled significantly by the time the last entre arrived. Im not sure we will go back. We have had better service and better food in lincoln for a third of the price. If you decide to give it a try, just keep your expectations low. read more

The service was spot on, the drinks were crafted with care and had an amazing taste with a good presentation. Clear ice in the cocktails is a touch that is definitely noticed. This is a bar in the line of very good bars in NY or SF (the old NY and old SF) where the service is very good, the food is a cut above and the drinks terrific. The only thing lacking is great ambiance and buzz, but heh, it's Lincoln. I would send any friend who knows good food from out of town here. We just moved to Lincoln. We have old friends who live here and recommended this place. We looked forward to meeting them at Aragon. We arrived 15 minutes early and got a table- fortunately because there is only seating for fifty or sixty people. Much of that is at the bar or on stools along a long countertop. There are only a half dozen tables. The sound levels grew as the place filled. We had a 3 ounce glass of wine while we waited. We told the hostess what time they would arrive and were seated with no problem. They arrived as stated but that didn't prevent the dining room manager from glowering at us the whole time. Fifteen minutes can seem like a long time when someone is starting at you disapprovingly. We ordered soon after our friends arrived and then had to wait almost 30 minutes for our meals. It was hard to maintain a conversation while we waited because the background noise levels were so high. The dishes did not arrive together and they were brought out by someone who had no idea who ordered what. The glowering guy brought out my Risotto some time after the others were already eating. There were 7 or 8 people taking care of the tiny dining room but evidently few in the kitchen. It took so long for so little. The portions were small and poorly plated. A twenty five dollar burger does not get more elegant floating on a nice plate with fries in a stainless steel box. The bill came to $175 for four with only two tiny drinks among them. My wife and I went to Aragon to celebrate our birthdays. Not a happy birthday for us. We were seated at a high table next to the windows. I had a cushioned bench seat with my back to the windows. My feet dangled in the air above the much too low foot rest; not comfortable. I would have asked to move but all the regular seating was full. Started with two Martinis that were watery with cheap olives. The bib lettuce salad was lame with some crushed croutons, cheap flavorless olives and runny, sweet Italian(?) dressing. My wife's fish was dry, tough and overcooked. My steak was tough and chewy. I sent the stake back and should have sent back the fish. They comped me for the steak and I should have asked the same for the fish. Prices are high for Lincoln which we were willing to pay for excellent food. The food was lousy. We won't go back again.
