Thank GOODNESS there is a new Daiso here in Austin. They are ALL over Southern California. Its an anchor store in the strip mall off Brodie and the 290 where you can also find Academy, TJ Maxx, Ross and Michaels. Its a chain store from Japan that is known for its value in everyday products, snacks, hello kitty things you never knew you needed. No price? Then its 1.75. Most things are 1.75. There is a yen conversion chat all over the store if things are say 200/300/400 yen. There are made in japan awesome pens, crafts, pencils, paper, origami and other dry goods. You can also grab the soft clay to make "cloud slime". Head to the middle and back where there are bathroom, laundry, kitchen and small gardening supplies. Travel section is great for anything you would have spent 2/3/4 x at Target or Amazon. Small travel toiletry bottles, packing cubes etc. There are dishes for anything you could imagine when eating Japanese style. Every vessel is intentional for foods and drink presentation. Glass sake cups, asian teas, Coffee and tea cups, Things to try: -iced teas (not too sweet). Try the peach or lychee -calpico a milky sweet drink that works well if you wanna spike it with vodka for an adult drink -Japanese snacks.. all savory -Japanese candies some gummy some hard candy. -Pocky.. sticks covered in strawberry, chocolate, or cookies and cream -popncookin kits. Gummy candy kits that look like FOOD. Great for a kiddo activity at home or just something fun do when you are staying in. Hit up youtube for the directions in English. Its SOOO fun! The sushi one is our fav. -instant Tonkotsu ramen is another fav of ours. This is anti-hanger food and better for you than ordering Taco Bell at 1am. read more

I first heard of this store while on a deep dive on tik tok. The best way I can describe this store is by saying: "Japanese Dollar Store - with hundreds of things you didn't know you needed" They have everything from snacks, to dish-ware, to beauty supplies, and more. I've been coming to this shopping center for most of my life and even worked in the TJ Maxx that's a few doors down but I NEVER knew this was here!!! I needed to get out the house so I went to my go-to TJ Maxx. It was a cluster F***...A lady almost took the front off my car stealing my spot and people inside the store acted as if it was their first time in civilized society. Leaving, I was regretting coming out of my house. But God shined on me because He made me look up and see the bright pink lettering. I audibly said "It can't be". I turned off my car and hauled butt. It was so wonderful. The first thing I noticed was how big this one is. Like the other Daiso stores, it's also VERY well kept. It's organized and constantly being restocked. I also enjoyed that it wasn't overly crowded and the people that were there were so wonderful. I picked up a conversation with a couple of girls that were doing the same as me (buying things unnecessarily because I'm convincing myself I somehow need them). I did get some of the beautiful dishes they have as well as getting a few soup and dumpling spoons I've been meaning to get. They were either $2.50 or $3 here and the quality is great. They are heavy glass/stoneware. Why go anywhere else?! At checkout, the woman was lovely. Chatted with me a bit about how long the store had been there as well as tolerated my last minute register impulse buys. I left in a MUCH better mood. Like I told the checkout woman on my way out, I feel bad for them because they'll be seeing a LOT of me in the very near future. read more

Items for purchase not a bargain. The cheapest items are 2.25, as similar items available at the Dollar Tree for 1.25. One has to look for their signs with the yen to dollar cost, that was very annoying. read more

A Japanese store that's not just cutesy anime stuff?? Yea please! Here I can get international standard sized paper and great office supplies, home goods, travel stuff, oh and SOCKS! Socks for ppl with smaller feet! [It's impossible to get women's American socks where the heel doesn't come up to my ankle. It's so uncomfortable, I had given up on wearing socks completely] Here the women's socks are generally smaller and they fit my size 6 feet like a dream. The only problem here is that all the labels and prices are in Japanese, and while almost everything in the store is the same price, finding the things that are not isn't the easiest. read more

So many interesting things I live this store friendly staff amazing place to shop for gifts

I love this store franchise but I was disappointed in the staff a bit. The store itself was amazing and I like that there was a self checkout for use of credit cards but when I went I only had my cash on me and we waited for probably a good 10 minutes for any help and when my boyfriend greeted them, there was silence. I get having a bad day but that's just not the service I would expect after working in the service industry for years. read more

Japanese dollar store? Spent 10 minutes walking the aisles. Can't imagine ever needing to come back.
