WOW. This takes the cake for best low cal ice cream on the market. Dark chocolate orange is impeccable. SO creamy (which is rare for a low cal ice cream) and great flavor. Right off the bat when I walked in I was greeted. They explained to me about their sizing and flavors and were friendly. I asked to sample but they do not. Which I understand might get expensive for them but it sure would be nice to try before you commit to a flavor. After the first bite, I was impressed! My fav spot to go to for a healthy sweet treat in atx! I absolutely freaking love that you can get a scoop of ice cream with topping for less than like 100 calories!! And it's super delicious! I really enjoy D'Lites for weekday sweet treat cravings. They have soft serve there, and packed take home pints of the flavors as well. The girls that work there are always very friendly. I like that even for the small size you can pick 2 flavors. This place gets pretty busy but the line moves fast. They have a special on Wednesday on take home ice creams. It obviously doesn't taste like regular froyo or ice cream....It tastes more airy, less concentrated and less discernible flavors, but I still find it satiating, especially with just a single topping added for more texture. I got a caramel soft serve (apparently and insanely low amount of calories per ounce, not sure how accurate that is lol) and topped it with peanut butter chips. I love coming here because the nutritional facts are quite impressive and the flavors are yummy. There's a couple flavors where I felt like the flavor could be a little stronger like the cake batter, and cotton candy, but given that these are supposed to be healthier than your average ice cream, I'd say they hit the spot. This place is the best. I love soft serve, but am also trying to be healthy and I can't eat too much sugar, so this place is great. It's so cheap and the flavors can get creative. The amount of ice cream is just right and such a steal. I never thought I'd start enjoying keto ice cream, but here I am. The turtle cheesecake just tasted like chocolate, but it was tasty nonetheless. They also sell all sorts of low carb foods, like pasta, pop tarts, cookies, burritos, pies, pastries, etc. There's not much room to hang out, so expect just to grab and go. Plenty of parking. Holy moly, I just died and went to SOFT SERVE HEAVEN! Man, it is really too bad this place is pretty out of the way from where we live, otherwise I can see this becoming a weekly habit... Which is exactly what they are aiming to do. I saw on the wall that they rotate their flavor offerings weekly, so you'll have to come in on the days where your favorite or something you've been itching to try is available. I was in awe at the wall with all the different flavors they sometimes have. Of course, if you're lucky, they'll've had a flavor recently and put it in a styrofoam to-go style container, which you can also purchase from their many freezers. My husband and I pursued them and were pretty tempted. Especially because you can also get a freezer bag to put them in, in case you've got a bit of a drive ahead of you in the Texas heat. The other neat thing was all the toppings available. So many to choose from! The pricing for the varied sizes and toppings seemed quite reasonable to me, especially at a time when inflation is driving everything through the roof! I got a small Death by Chocolate with mini marshmallows, my husband got a small half-n-half chocolate and vanilla with dark chocolate chips. So tasty!! There are a couple of seats inside and a couple of seats outside. Not lots of seating, but plenty of standing room inside the establishment too. You can also buy various health food in here, including gluten-free items. And I noticed they sell 6-packs of in-house made ice cream sandwiches! D'Lites is my new favorite Austin business! Their ice cream and several of their other products taste too good to be true! My husband and I came across D'Lites while doing some errands Sunday afternoon, and our errands turned into the fun outing I'd hoped it might turn into. I ordered a large ice cream, since their display labeled that as coming to about 150 calories. It's 50 calories per half cup. My husband got a small serving then had to go back and order another. He's on keto, so his considerations were based around carbs. Their chocolate flavors are only 2 carbs per half cup, so that's what he stuck to. They had 6 flavors, and they allowed me to mix several flavors in my bowl, but my favorite of the day was their simple vanilla custard. The Nutter Butter and Kit Kat flavors had a slight fake flavor, but nothing off-putting. It tastes like a brand of light ice cream I used to eat obsessively as a teenager back in Ohio called Wow Cow, but according to their website, D'Lites uses their own recipe. Maybe they use the same flavorings as Wow Cow? It's a distinctive flavor, and it took me right back to my teenagerhood! While we ate, we checked out their other products. They stock a lot of Catalina Crunch brand things, which my husband usually avoids because it's not actually that low carb. However, they also had a brand called Wio that we'd never seen before. That's where things really seemed too good to be true. They say they contain carb blockers so only 20 calories of their cookies are digestible. I'm skeptical, so I'm going to research them more. However, we had to try some. They were expensive, so we only bought one pack to start with. The chocolate chip cookies taste like real cookies! We bought several containers of ice cream to go. On Sundays they have promotions. This time it was buy 3 get one free. Or maybe that's their standard Sunday deal? It's convenient that Sundays are our errand days! Later, I did feel a little gassy. I'm not sure if it was from the ice cream, the cookies, or other causes, but it's not enough to stop me from enjoying these things. I'm guessing it's the cookies. I still need to research carb blockers. I'll also count eating them as part of the research! The ice cream is understandably a lot harder once stored in a home freezer. It's best to let it soften before eating at home. Of the flavors we took home, the Creamsicle was the clear winner. read more

I've tried low calorie ice creams from the grocery store, and some of them are okay, but don't really compete with the real thing when it comes to taste and texture. D'Lites ice cream is not like that at all! If I didn't know it was healthy and low calorie, I would think it was just regular ice cream. I ordered the chocolate soft serve with crushed chocolate almonds on top, and it was super creamy and delicious. The best part was eating the entire thing without feeling guilty at all. The shop serves chocolate and vanilla soft serve every day, and has rotating flavors every day of the week. You can check their website to see which flavors they have available on the day you're visiting. They also sell pints of their ice cream, which I saw a few people purchasing during my visit. I do live a bit far from their shop, so I might have to look into getting some next time I go. One of my new favorite dessert spots in Austin! Stumbled into this place by chance and wow how has it taken me this long to uncover D'Lites. At first you might think healthy ice cream and write it off thinking it won't taste the same or leave a weird taste in your mouth but this place won't! I got a small with sprinkles (approx 100 cals for the ice cream) and also walked away with 3 half pints. On Wednesdays they have buy two get one free on all quarts, pints, and 1/2 pints. Really nice to see a place offering 1/2 pints as that's the ideal size for me! They also have several other gluten free/healthy grocery items around and the workers were so helpful explaining all their offerings to us. The store is neatly organized and they have several freezers with their ice creams so everyone isn't crowding one. I did go on a Wednesday evening the store was definitely lively. Here's my ratings on the four flavors I tried Peanut butter cookie dough: This is mostly just a chocolate peanut butter as I didn't taste and cookie dough nor did they add any. Not to worry though as the flavor was still delicious and it was perfectly sweet. I just wish they would rename to peanut butter. 8.5/10 Oreo Cheesecake: Maybe my favorite flavor! Again no chunks of Oreo but the cheesecake flavor was really good! I wish this spot was closer to where i live because their calorie count is amazing. Its low and the flavor is still all there. It does also have a very low sugar count but i am skeptical about sugar substitutes (if they somehow subbed it out to others like fructose corn syrup or something) because it was more sweeter than a normal soft serve for me. There were also a lot of toppings and pints of ice cream you can take home.
