Foster City, like the City of Alameda, has man-made lagoons. This shopping center has a Luckys Supermarket for an anchor store. And a mix of restuarants, banks, martial arts, and assorted other shops like the UPS Store. I walked around, and saw alot of empty storefronts. Probably closed due to the Covid shutdown. Others had closed early. Some of the restaurants were open, and had a good number of dine-in customers. You could tell where the open shops were by the cars parked. Huge vacant parking lot in the center. I'm sure it's more lively in the daytime.

Stores will only give credit for current sale price if no receipt. This is actually common at more than just Ross. 3 stars for actually having a decent amount of inventory and the sweetest loss prevention girl. The reason I am giving low stars is for the lack of safety. I understand they are closing this location down, but per staff, there has been no light in the parking lot for a year now. This is a huge safety issue for customers AND team members leaving at the end of their shift. I actually felt uncomfortable and don't usually feel like that. Can only imagine how the staff feels. Shame on the complex and store manager for not making this an issue with an unknown closure date!! Your loss prevention gal that night told me the staff has brought it up and they get ignored.

I decided it was best to park on the roof and take the escalator down to ground level.....right to the restaurant! While I was there, I walked around to see what the indoor mall was like. It's a nice shopping mall with a variety of shops, restaurants, and services. The North Mall has a huge "Dining Terrace" which includes an outdoor patio with fire pits. I like the hand washing area. I heard stories that the owners of the mall want to tear down the enclosed mall and build a mixed use open air mall. The plan is yet to be approved. I like Hillsdale Mall the way it is.

While the new section is beautiful, the original building hasn't changed much and feels like it's lacking the same level of improvement. Despite that, I still enjoy walking the floors and window shopping. The food court is decent--not a ton of variety, but the seating is comfortable--and the other restaurants and movie theater are great features. I have my favorite go-to stores, but I really hope they attract more tenants soon to bring back that busy, vibrant energy!
