I've been coming to World Market for over a decade and my home shows it. From dishes to rugs to furniture, this store holds my heart. Everything they offer is quality. Sure, IKEA is IKEA, but when you buy furniture from World Market it's guaranteed to last. Not only is everything quality, but you can find things at this store that you can't find darn near anyplace else. Aside from home goods, they have a huge selection of global food and drinks, including one of the most diverse candy sections around. After coming here for so long you'd think I know everything about this store, but a few weeks ago I learned something new and really valuable. Every department has a clearance section!!! YES!!!! Every department! There's clearance for candles, body wash, men's fragrances, kitchen wares, food and drink, furniture, everything! They also mark down anything from a recent holiday, up to 90% off!! Come on, in this economy who doesn't love a deal? If you can't find one of the clearance sections, just ask someone. All of the employees are so nice and helpful. My favorite clearance areas are the 33% and 55% off food racks located at the back of the store. They are loaded with yummy food - like salami, pasta, gnocchi, baked goods, sodas, coffee, tea, chips, candy - and everything is heavily discounted. A lot of the items have been discontinued, so this is the last chance to buy them. It's the first place I head when I walk in. I've left before with a full grocery bag for less than $8. The next time you find yourself in or near Bridgepoint Shopping Center...GO! Make sure to seek out all of the discounted items. You won't regret it! read more

Came by the store on black friday in the early afternoon, and was glad to find the floor and shelves well stocked with interesting items as typically offered on a regular day (chic furniture, rugs, kitchenware, snacks, candies, wine and beer from around the world). But they also had an abundance of holiday themed merchandise for sale, and aisles full of toys and products dedicated to Wicked, Hello Kitty, Harry Potter, and more. In fact I picked up some unique Harry Potter gifts for the nieces and nephews, along with my favorite irish potato chips, of course--keogh's truffle and butter flavor. There was hardly a line at the checkout counter and ample employees providing fast and friendly service. I even got a complimentary holiday tote for being a rewards member. My experience at this location is always satisfactory, regardless if no one greets me at the door or not. Customer service is always priority to me and there are other ways to experience this. Someone is almost always walking around at this store so that's helpful when you need to ask questions. Or even friendly cashiers. Last night I had the pleasure of being assisted by Justin. At first he acknowledged my presence in line and that someone will help me shortly. Another customer came up and Justin ultimately helped me ring up my purchase and showed me the member discount code you'd have to scan in to receive $5 off or something. (Which I don't think the other locations I've recently visited have offered--- Mt View nor did San Jose offer this, unless there was a sign plastered at the cashier I failed to read myself?) Other than that, once you're signed up for the membership, you're sent via text reminders for sales for 20, 25% off!) Even better when they have an end of the season or year sale and you're given the membership discount! Anyway, if you visit close to closing or early in the day, you can usually find parking and less foot traffic to compete with and have a decent shopping experience at World Market. I personally like this location best bc this is the first world Market I've stepped in and this location always has what I'm looking for. I needed to buy a gift for someone and after browsing online for a while, I found exactly what I needed through World Market. I was able to place my online order for store pickup at the Bridgepoint location and shortly after, got the text and email alert that my order was ready for pickup. This World Market is located in a large, busy strip mall but there was plenty of parking in front of the store. Walking in, I was immediately able to orient myself and find the pick up counter. There was an associate there that was able to immediately provide service and came out with my order 15 seconds later. I signed the receipt and was on my way. Quick, easy, and painless. I didn't have time to peruse the retail store more, but from what I saw, everything was cleanly organized, well stocked, and there were some great seasonal and household items to purchase. read more

Though this store is not my regular store, I was in the area so I stopped by to redeem a $5 reward that was dropped into my Rewards account. This store is located in the Bridgepoint Parkway shopping center and parking was not an issue when I was here on a Saturday afternoon. What's cool about World Market is all the things they offer. They got stuff for every room in your house, from kitchen and dining ware/utensils, bathroom accessories, furniture, curtains, rugs, décor, and gift items. They had their Christmas decorations out already. They have a nice selection of food items from around the world as they have varieties and flavors that you don't see at a regular store. There's coffee and tea and wine and beer as well. The store was clean, orderly, had a large selection of items and was well stocked. A nice World Market store to check out if you're in the area. I'm a big fan of World Market and used to frequent the original Fremont location (@Farwell Drive. Market Broiler, theater used to be there as well) before it closed and moved to the Fremont Hub. Now, I frequent the Jack London Square and San Mateo locations with both stores consistent with products and friendly customer service. What I love about World Market: Housewares (white and clear mugs), home decor, furniture, packaged food and sauces, international food items, and teas that make great gifts or for yourself. I can honestly say items I've bought for myself I've bought as gifts as I know people will enjoy. Recent experience at this location of trying to find an item. A gentleman named Earl was extremely helpful, professional, friendly while being pulled in multiple directions by other customers. Not sure if he's a regular employee or seasonal help...either way a true professional. Also had a great experience with the cashier, Dave was equally friendly and professional while bagging my items with care and making sure I received my World Market Rewards. I have yelp about an exceptional employee at this location,Andrea, went over and beyond. I searched all of your stores online to see who had the item in stock that I was looking for. I even called your customer service number and got nowhere. THEN i called your San Mateo store and spoke with Andrea. Andrea looked for the item I was looking for and online it said this store had 3 of the items. Andrea went and looked and couldn't find any of them. Andrea took my phone number and said she'd look in a little while when she had time to do so as she was at the Cash register when I called . In about an hour later Andrea called me back and said she found the item I was starching for at all of your locations. Andrea then put it on hold for me and I will be going, 1st thing tomorrow morning to pick it up. Andrea went over and beyond to make my purchase happen. I used to manage Big Box stores for 20 years and I know 1st hand how important it is to know who your star employees are, well Andrea is definitely a STAR Employee and should be commended for giving such exceptional customer service. I've been shopping at this World Market since it opened. It has many wonderful finds and I've purchased a variety of items including furniture, gifts, and wine over the years. It's inevitable though that whatever I purchase, the price is higher once the tag is scanned by the cashier vs the advertised price on the shelf. I love World Markets and everyone was very nice, and the selection of products are always so adorable. This would've been a 5 star review if not for the cashier named Michelle. When I was checking out, I actually greeted her instead of the other way around. She was unfriendly to my husband (who is Caucasian) but was really rude to my friend and I (we are Asians). At the end of the transaction, instead of handing me my receipt in my outstretched hand, she threw the receipt on the counter and turned her back. Great store if you want to wait in line and have employees gawk at you while you stand there. Prepare for at least a 15 minute wait in line -- 30 on the weekends. Insanely inefficient. Alcohol, furniture, endless gift possibilities and import items. Something to stuff anybody's stocking. Alcohol and wine. So many unusual bottles. I liked the ones shaped like a cat statue and Chritmas tree. Another had a Dracula cape. Keep things festive and fun. I'm not sure how good the wine inside is but will find out soon. Furniture department had a smaller display section than the Oakland store but still much was there. I have a new couch on the radar and have a pressing reason to possibly update before the holidays. I'm sure many people can understand. Found some magnets that are shaped and look like gigantic human teeth. I have just the person who will appreciate that... Really only a dentist could right? I plan on possibly some light holiday baking and got some additive for whip cream to keep my peaks stiff. Can't live without these kind of things. Nobody likes saggy couches or droopy whip cream. The check out line was short but took a long time. I'm not sure what was going on with this woman clogging the register with her big shopping cart. Was she price checking or coupon shopping? I was having a hard time making things happen on my own with a big purchase and Leslie L, Chris, and Andrea stepped in and went above and beyond assisting me with the awesome cabinet I bought at the store. I had to rent a Home Depot van and they assisted me with loading and Chris even helped give me some good tips on how to strap it down. Leslie found some foam in the back (I was not prepared at all!) and offered it to make sure I felt confident with transporting. They made my day, without their help I would not have been able to get the cabinet set up in time for my business alone. I came by yesterday 10/08/24 after work. I love going to this World Market. I usually shop here a few times a month. The moment I walk in I am greeted with a warm hello. They have been so consistent. I love the chocolate and other candy they carry. They have good quality chocolate and they carry nostalgic brands too. For a while one of my favorite milk chocolate marzipan wasn't available at this location, but yesterday it was there! I was as so happy. They had cute and fun Halloween decorations. I just love the different things they carry. I will be back, I have to come back and buy some gifts. read more

I got here a little early to do some other shopping first only to find it has an opening test run so I got to have a look around even before the event and I have to say I am already a fan, great use of what used to be Old Navy. Same set up every Cost Plus has with furniture, kitchenware, large selection of Beer's and Wines and imported food item's. Grand opening celebrations start tomorrow (Thursday) with ribbon cutting at 9am and free tote bags given to the first 200 people. Just spent forty minutes trying to get the store to locate the price for an olive kitchen utensil - searching bins for missing price tag, waiting for clerks to look item up in inventory, and them to imply sell it at the price of everything else (15 different types of utensils, all at the same price and in the same location). Lack of decision making skills in staff and management, waste of customer time due to their sloppy inventory management. A definite "never go back". read more

We don't shop at Cost Plus World Market frequently... we only came in because World Market is currently having a collaboration with Hello Kitty. So we went over to the World Market because it had majority of every Hello Kitty we wanted. We managed to grab everything we wanted and a sale associate named Danny says there was more Hello Kitty products available in the back room if we were interested. So Danny goes to the back to grab some pencils and a notebook for my girlfriend. The notebook and pencils weren't out on the sales floor yet and the associate went back there to get it for my girlfriend cause she is a big fan of Hello Kitty. We ended up buying it. This place has always been my go to for specialty products. You can get bacon flavored chips, chocolates from Europe, and a whole bunch of unique items. There really isn't much of a line but sometimes it may be hard to locate an employee. Make sure to sign up for their email list! You get a gift on the month of your bday. It is currently 15% off for the month, I really hope they switch back to the old gift, $5 off any purchase. I typically review only restaurants, but I had such a great experience here today that I had to give them a shout-out. They were having an awesome sale on pillows, which I didn't know about beforehand, but pillows happened to be the reason I'd come in, so we were already off to a great start. While I stared at pillows (for seriously like twenty minutes), I had two separate employees preimptively let me know they'd be happy to help me grab any pillows that were in the upper shelves, if needed. I feel like that's unheard of in retail, right? Typically you have to comb through the store to find someone to ask for that kind of help! I found and purchased 4 pillows, and can I just add that I'd just left Target (shopping pillows there too, but didn't buy any). I purchased these 4 World Market pillows for the price of 1.5 Target pillows. So, thank you, Pillow Sale. I tossed those in my trunk and then went back in to adventure through the snack aisles with free hands. :) I noticed they had an impressive lineup of hot sauces (lots featured on the YouTube show Hot Ones), and some at a better price than Amazon; I know this because the ones I bought were on our Amazon wishlist! I was really excited to see them in a store. Then, one of the employees was sampling some chips & salsa, spiced popcorn and passionfruit juice so I indulged, and she told me about a coupon I could use for a free tote if I was a member. Thing is, I AM a member, but I wasn't previously signed up for text alerts for coupons. She walked me through how to sign up real quick on my phone, and then went above and beyond to help me with that when it didn't work the first (second, or third) time. :) So, I got a variety of great product at a great price, awesome customer service and my typical new-to-me snack purchases that always accompany my stops into World Market. We are regular shoppers at Cost Plus in Bridgepointe Shopping Center in Foster City - holiday treats, kitchen knick-knacks, unique gifts and interesting snacks from all over the world. The staff have been excellent always sporting warm smiles and going out of their way to help and answer any queries we may have. The positive experience was amplified many folds recently. We were shopping for dining chairs and Abdul the lead employee in charge of furniture and inventory explained in detail the process to order online and subsequent assembly and pickup from store. When the chairs arrived, Abdul had them assembled them immediately, doing a complimentary service demonstrating a fine gesture of goodwill indeed, and had them ready for immediate pickup. I'm switching back over to tea so I convinced the honey to stop by Cost Plus for the only brand I know I can do it with, Twinning's Darjeeling tea. This location of Cost Plus had really wonderful service, but was fairly messy as things go. Some hilarious big footed two year old put shoe prints in front of the "do not put feet on couch" sign, and the general feel of the store was chaos. With after Christmas sale signs everywhere and a significant amount of people in this locale's smaller aisles, we really didn't want to spend much time here. I will say that my tea was well priced at $3.50 a box, but even so, while they don't always stock it at our local grocery store, it is cheaper there so I'm not sure we'll come back often. All in all I'll probably keep this location in mind next time I run out just because it's so close. read more

Treasures abound here and one of my all time absolute hands down favorite stores. Some of the stuff we've bought from here ... oh man, I'm talking elephant bookshelves, elephant tables, African poufs, Indian printed towels, Mexican wrought iron chandeliers --all for my home. As for my office, inexpensive lamps. They have all types of glassware and kitchen objects, plus some clothing and accessories, and candles galore. In the back of the store, all kinds of foods from around the world. Though we don't drink alcohol, we always see they feature wines and beers from different countries. It truly is a global market. The service here has been always terrific. This is one of those places I could go once weekly and be content. In fact, though I go here only a few times a year, my heart quickens at the prospect of what I might find here. Did I mention the prices? You could not expect lower--they do a fantastic job of not only procuring, but pricing them, and not jacking up for profit, e.g. I bought a jewelry armoire, made of pure mango wood, and hand painted in turquoise peacock colors--guess how much? $39! Seriously. No joke. Parking is a free shared lot in front. And if you buy something you have difficulty carrying out by yourself, people will help you load it in your car, e.g. we got a massive plantar and plant, which a very sweet guy helped us with. read more

Everytime I come here, I leave with at least one bag of something. Last time I went there, I actually bought a bunch of candies and cutesy stuff along with a basket and gave it to my coworker as a goodbye gift. They have imported candy from Europe which I love and their chocolates, or aerobar, has bubbles in there, so good. The only thing is their prices are a bit expensive and when I do get a coupon, it's $10 off $30 and I usually get candies and food. A lot of times their coupons are for a certain time period... meh! I wanted to take a moment to compliment Zya a clerk at the Bridgepoint location. I was there yesterday May 22 2019 to buy some of my favorite candies, the Rowntree strawberry and blackcurrant pastilles. Unfortunately they were none on the shelves. Zya was stocking close by so I made mention that they were out. She examined the shelf, the upper stock shelf and then asked if I would mind if she went into the stockroom to check. I told her it was fine and thanked her. About five minutes later she emerged saying "I have some bad news, we don't have any and the warehouse does not have any in stock. I'm not sure when they will be receiving them, but I know they are the most popular." I thanked her for her great service and demeanor. Especially since I had just come from Home Depot across the street. Their service is akin the the California DMV, which is in stark contrast to the World Market at Bridgepoint. I've had nothing but excellent customer service while shopping there and commend the manager of that location. Having worked in retail in my youth I know full well that a positive customer experience is a direct reflection of the store's management. Thank you for hiring people like Zya. I am so glad this location is now open! The parking is much better at this location than the one in Hillsdale and Red Wood City. Same great collection of ethnic and holiday stuff. The weekends before Christimas are always crowded, but I was pleasantly surprised how fast the lines moved for me. I had about 6 people in front of me, and I stepped up to the checkout counter in about 5 minutes. 1 star off: My husband went later in the day, and apparently, the line was about 30 minutes long.
