I'm not a big fan of shopping, but when I need certain things, Marshalls is my go-to. The value paid for home goods is incredible. You can get everything from cookware to home decor to food. My favorite first stop is always the clearance aisle. It's tucked away in the back, far corner and loaded with odds and ends, ridiculously reduced to entice even the most blasé shopper into buying something she really doesn't need. The last trip was intended to be a quick stop for a few pots to plant the Christmas poinsettias, but I walked out with a full shopping cart of cooking utensils, planters and even a new pair of sunglasses - all for around $100. The value makes shopping at Safeway look like it's the Ritz in comparison. There's lots of parking in the parking lot (pun intended) and automatic doors for those who need them. Dressing rooms are large and well lit. The people are super nice and always friendly, even the ones waiting in the long lines for checkout. I think it's because they placate every shopper with a vast array of temptations on either side of the check-out line. I've bought dish towels, scrunchies and wine toppers while waiting in line. *shaking head* So the next time you're in need of, well, pretty much anything, head to Marshalls. Stopped by this store after having dinner across the parking lot. Was hoping to find a pair of sneakers, normally I have good luck at this store. It was not that busy for being a Friday evening, it's odd for this location. Well in shoe area I noticed a shelf with what looked like high end designer sneakers. I picked up this pair to my surprise they're super fake, I mean it's not that hard to tell specially since these were even falling apart. I picked up a pair of Alexander McQueen that are also fake. I can't believe that someone would not only take these back at the store if they were returned, but also have them on the sales floor. A great place to buy that ugly Christmas sweater. Low ceilings I think gave the place an overall dark feeling. Lots of ugly Christmas sweaters and button down shirts. One was South Park themed. Another 'Ho, Ho, Ho.' You've got endless options if you need that sort of thing. Green and blue and red - very bright colors for you holiday get togethers. Overall the place seemed sort of dark and drab. I only noticed once I stepped foot next door at the other store that had bright lights and high ceilings. It does make the shopping experience a bit worse. The bargain section is in the back right. I guess they have cameras and sensors and when you go there the security camera greets you. "Welcome to the home department." I think thats less to make you feel welcome and more to make you feel watched. I don't think much crime happens around here. I know there are supposed to be many people that buy tons of stuff at Marshalls. I am unfortunately just not one of them. When I got to this Marshalls and Ross next door, I always seem to come out with more purchased items from Ross. On the surface, Marshalls seems to have a better layout than Ross and slightly higher quality items but Ross seems to win out. I still find things here (swimming trunks and sports caps) but wish I would find more. That being said, I'm still glad to have Marshalls as an option to shop at. read more

This store is in the Bridgepointe Shopping Center so you will have no issue at all with parking. The store is always clean when I go and it is well organized and stocked. They have lots of amazing items at a discounted price which is great. The lines can get pretty long, but they usually add more cashiers and/or the cashiers are usually pretty quick. I enjoy going to this location and will definitely recommend it. read more

It's a 3.5 rating, but I just can't mark it 4.0 stars. It's my second fav in the area for discount designer stores behind TJ Maxx, and way better than the Ross. From my MAN-POV (point of view), I found stuff. For this location, in particular, snacks/candies/jams, as well as kitchen & cooking items. UNPROFESSIONAL. Today marks the 3rd time this store has refused to sell products to me FOR ABSOLUTELY NO REASON. The issue is that the staff hardly place price tags on their merchandise. This is ALWAYS an issue. I have spent hours circling aisles trying to find the same object or something similar to help the cashiers. Today, I had found many perfect things that simply did not have price tags on them. There were 6 items total & 2 more with tags. I kindly asked the cashier if she could do a price check for these items because I would like to purchase them. Usually, they look for items on the floor or the computer. I waited patiently for this cashier just to give me different reasons as to why she was unable to sell me EVERY item. EVEN THE ONES WITH PRICE TAGS. First, she said one was part of a matching set. I told her that doesn't seem correct since there is no other item of the same nature. But I'd buy it if that's the case. I needed it because it matches the motif of the shelves where I keep my planters. The boxes matched the the Ms of the gifts i was giving. She asked someone if they could find it & this woman just said "I work in that department, that is the last one." Yet the cashier claimed it was a set. I asked if she could bring the other one over then I'll buy both. She just said no there is none &they can't sell me that one either because it has no tag. Even though I know that's BS I just said fine. I asked her to ring me up for the others. Then this person & the cashier said they couldn't ring me up for the other items because there are no price tags on 2/3 boxes. I asked if I could buy the 1. They said no because THESE ARE ALSO A SET. If they are a set, I'll buy the set. Then the lady said no, they are not a set, we have to ring them up individually and she doesn't know how much they are. They literally went against what they just told me. I asked if she could find the price then I'll buy all of them. They said no because it is too hard to make tags when she has to walk. Never in all the years I've worked in retail have I ever told a customer I just would not make a price tag for an item our store forgot to tag. I've seen many stores including this one make new tags. In fact, the last time I was here, I was trying to buy things that didn't have tags & the manager had to tell the cashier to make one. The cashier didn't want to, so they asked if it was alright not to make one. I just said ok. Today, I simply said I want to buy these things. Then the elderly white woman started to explain how I wasn't understanding her words and why she can't sell items to me when they don't have tags and she needs to make tags. Just because I'm not white does not mean I don't speak English. I told her I had been asking her to make the tags for 15 minutes. She said she would go to look for matching items to make tags. She never left the register. She just stood there and touched and retouched the same items. The cashier at this point slipped away. Didnt say a word to me. Did not look for items, did not try to get a price tag gun. She was standing in the corner near someone else's register. At some point, I just told the manager & lady I had asked to buy these things & no one ever did anything or left the counter to grab anything. What are we all just standing around looking at each other for? I asked her several times if she's going to price the items & she just kept saying yes & listing all the steps she needed to take to look for the price. She never did them. Then she told me she wasn't a cashier. I looked for the cashier who was just here. The manager asked in agitation what is going on & I just simply said I was trying to BUY THESE &they're not ringing them up, not making tags, not grabbing other things. Just refusing to serve me. All of this could have been avoided if the staff would place the g-damn price tags on the items. This NEVER happens at the San Bruno location. The only time I even come to this racist place is when I make my trips to Hobby Lobby. They could've placed any $ on the tags & I would've bought them! read more

I'll be honest, I prefer Ross over Marshalls. It's because the store is slightly confusing, things are labeled as well as Ross and prices are slightly higher. I don't know why? It's all resale of last season's items from some retail store. But in the end I did find some nice travel items in the very cluttered travel section. Dog toy for $2.99 & dog treats too! What a deal!! Most of the time, I pay a visit to Marshall's when I am in need for a good quality chewing toy that my dog "Jackson Louie' can chew, play and tear up and last for a day or more. I was really surprised that Marshall's has good selection for dogs and cats accessories. They even have a huge line of dog beds from small, to medium and to even the XLarge dogs (good for me). I bought Jackson a huge dog bed here and it turned out -- he doesn't like dog beds. He has a preference for sleeping on throw kitchen rugs and it has something to do with cushions I found out which he does not care for much. So I buy a few bathroom rugs here and use that instead for him since it's his favorite. It is also a lot easier for me to throw it in the wash. The best part about Marshall's, their dog treats are dirt cheap . Pricing as low as $1 (price value of $12) which I had recently purchased and all organic and natural too. Their dog bowls are nice too and of good quality. I do read the labels when it comes to rawhide bones and make sure they are not made in China since many dogs have gotten sick from dog food and treats manufactured there. I suggest rawhide made from Spain and Mexico are the safer choice. I guess if I took time long enough to shop at Marshall's and wondered in the men section once in a while or even at their furniture and kitchen, I supposed - I could find plenty of items to take home with me. read more

Although the store is as large as any Marshalls I've shopped, its selection is very poor. I have friends who say, "check at Marshalls, they have so much for lower cost." Not this one. The store is convenient, being in Bridgepoint Center, just down the walkway from Target. Lots of parking. But very poor selection in men's and children's. California supports the CDC recommendation that fully vaccinated individuals can work without masks at the work place. Meaning that since Thursday (June 18) every fully COVID-19 vaccinated employee can work without facial mask- accept in classrooms, hospital settings or a few other places. This is important to follow so that the nation moves forward towards a normal work environment. It is illegal and unethical to discriminate against individuals that wear or not wear a mask when fully vaccinated. In my last visit on Friday a fully vaccinated employee at the registrar was brutally verbally attacked by the manager with the name Veronica due that she did not wear a mask. This was two days after the California Government voted on dropping all mask requirements at the workplace for individuals that are fully vaccinated. The employee walked out to protect herself from further abuse. I normally try to check-out with her. She is the only employee that informed me that fully vaccinated customers are not required to wear a mask when shopping in the store. Other employees still acted like their were a mask wearing requirement. Unfortunately- the Marshall management team in this store still does not recognizes this employee that is quick, provides exceptional/outstanding customer service, has standards and goes out of the way that customers leaving happy and also coming back. read more

There was clothing galore, including amazing shoes and accessories, and there was also a boatload of home goods and pet stuff I wasn't expecting. From vases to fancy sofa chairs, it's all here! Minus one star for a cashier who kept interrogating customers while checking out. Everyone just wanted to pay and leave. read more

"Horrible and Rude Customer Service". I visited to return 2 items which were bought about 2.5 weeks back. During the return the cashier lady discovered that one item didn't have any tags, which was quite surprising to me as I had literally taken it back as I had received it. I had a receipt for this return. But the receipt didn't differentiate between multiple items ( not my fault ). There system to check stuff was broken( not my fault ). The person who must have sold it to me , must have removed the tag along with the magnetic barcode ( not my fault ). Anyways so I am told to wait in line , which I did patiently for 10 min. The manager on site Nydia when to check for another item of the same type, didn't find any and came back with almost similar piece. They started the return and she tells the cashier "do it correctly or it will come bite you in the ass again". I told her it was a rude comment and she says that " she was not talking to me ". So I told her that I understand she is taking about me and I can hear her and it's not appropriate language. She goes " I don't know why your getting so hyped up , I am doing you a favor by returning this item you don't have a tag". We had a lot of argument and I left with my store credit. But I feel violated as a customer. I don't think she realizes that People do them a favor by buying at there store. I am never going back to buy here. I really hope they provide some training to there staff. If it was a problem returning , just say that I will take my $300 purchase somewhere else next time. At least don't have to hear crap for 20$. read more

If you are shopping at this or any Marshall's, make sure you have your patient pants on. If you are in a rush or a having a rough day, this may not be the place for you. True story. I worked for this big law firm down in Silicon Valley years ago and this cool cat came to our office for some training. He wore a slick Armani suit, flashy tie and shiny kicks. His dress shirts were perfectly crisp and I was crushin on his wardrobe. I asked him to give me the secret and he said Marshall's. I laughed and laughed and he didn't budge, just a straight face without expression. You see, the secret, as he told it, is to hit up Marshall's and walk in there with a plan. Slowly check each dress shirt until you find the one that's right for you. Know ahead of time that there is a really good chance that shirt won't be in the house, so practice patience and take it slow. I started doing that and wouldn't you know it, I started to find some sweet dress shirts at a wonderful discount. I would fall back into the impatient mode from time to time, but when I practice patience and take it slow, the experience is solid. read more

The Marshalls at bridge point Foster City is a great Discount store that I have gone to over the years. However Wednesday at 130 pm the wait line had about 20 people with only 2 cashiers. My wife asked if they had more cashiers available. He replied only the manager. I felt sorry for the 2 cashiers. Many persons has very full basket loads of Xmas items. Of course I did not waste my time to wait and returned my items. By the time I was leaving the line had expanded past the entrance doors and easily had 25 or more customers!!! This is Xmas shopping and the managers should know to hire extra help as needed. This is the worse service I have seen in 10 plus years shopping here. Selection is ok. The housewares department was messy. You really have to look over all the sheets to find your size. I was looking for a mattress pad for the Kid's new bed. I found a semi nice one but there was no price. I take it to the counter and the girl - who had serious bitch face going on - didn't even bother to check it in the machine. She just said $19.99, do you want it? Since I had no choice, and I didn't have time to scour the other stores, I took it. How do you know it's 19.99. There was another one, not the same brand, that was on the shelf for $14.99. I suspect she gave me the higher price. Boo hoo. Their linens are expensive. When I shopped there last week I couldn't help but be impressed by the layout, orderliness, and nicely displayed merchandise. It was a very nice shopping experience. This Marshalls is OK. I wasn't a huge fan of the womens clothes section. They actually had very few clearance racks, and I didn't see a lot of racks with the designer brands. The picture frames section was also slightly disappointing. I didn't see that many 5x7 picture frames. The prices for the frames were pretty cheap though, usually under $10. The shoes section was interesting though. I actually got this cute pair of Kate Spade flip flops for $30 here, and I rarely buy anything from Marshalls. They charge 25 cents per paper bag here. I've been a fan of marshalls and the TJX companies for a long time. Great home furnishings, discount clothing/shoes,and seasonal gifts. This branch seems to be better organized and clean than some of the other branches I've visited. The pet selection is not so great here but everything else is about the same. There seems to be more clearance/sale items here than SF city branches. But on the flip side, the sales tax here is 9.25% vs 8.75% in the city. It is probably the only branch I've seen carry a full sized old school pac man arcade machine - so cool! There's tons of drone toys as well for the holiday inventory. #onlyinsf lol read more

Yep. That's right 5 stars because it's close to my house and it's a great place to find bargains. I come here to find my housewares and knick knacks. I don't usually bother searching for clothing as it doesn't cater to what I like. Most of the times the store is neat and clean unlike similar discount stores where I won't say no names. Robbed and humiliated right inside the fitting room and management did nothing for me while the robber was right there in front of us inside the STORE!!!!!! 2 females stole my expensive purse which had all my belongings including my wallet and my iphone 6 and stuffed it inside their doggie stroller. when i realized what was happening and called management before they could run away with my purse, the manager told me yea it looks like they did steal and asked me to chase them inside the store before they leave !!!!!!!!! all this while i had my 2.5 years old son with me!!! i called the police and they looked at the tape which im clearly shown in it panicking and pointing at the robber and yelling STOP her stop her while the manager standing there WATCHING !!!! i ran after them dragging my toddler and took a picture of their license plate i also called the police and filled a report. but it was too late. the action should have been taken inside the store by management! of corse they got away with it and ran out of the store i expected a different reaction from a store like marshalls i thought us the customers are SAFE inside. but i guess this is NOT the case! there was no security like other stores do have! its not like the whole thing happened outside of marshalls! they should have at least closed their doors and searched them! i am absolutely frustrated and outraged about what happened to me at this marshalls which used to be my ultimate favorite store to shop for the whole family and the household i would like for someone from marshalls headquarters to contact me read more

I bought my awesome grey Calvin Klein dress and grey patent Jessica Simpson heels that I wore to the Yelp holiday party here. I'd seen the dress the week earlier at Macy's in Chicago, but they didn't have my size. Color me surprised to find several here and to find my hawt outfit in about 25 minutes (including 15 minutes of agonizing with mom over whether I really liked the dress or should I wait to find something at Staford). I know I caused a scene and all for a simple exchange that could have been taken care of right away. I'm not going to use names because the associates are following what their management and corporate policies dictate...care for profit over satisfied customers. I purchased a pair of $10 Adidas slides from the Campbell store. Well, dumb me...I didn't notice that one slide was size 9 and the other was size 11 when I bought them. I thought I would just exchange them at the Marshalls at Bridgepoint, San Mateo. WRONG. The on-duty manager had the coordinator tell me that I had to return the slides to Campbell where they were purchased. I was like what the what?! I'm going to spend more time getting to Campbell than the slides are worth. Come on people! Use some rational judgement. Empower your employees to provide "outstanding customer service;" a direct quote from their website. I made sure I didn't act my shoe size (neither 9 or 11) but I'm sure people knew I was not a satisfied customer. Sorry Marshalls, I'd rather get outstanding service somewhere else. So I never thought I would like the discounted department stores like Marshalls, Ross, etc., but I recently discovered that I am a huge fan. I went to Marshalls a couple months ago to look for some new work clothes. I walked up and down the aisles that had shirts my size, and if anything caught my eye, I would pick it up. I was able to get a few really cute tops for around $25. I also love how they carry some designer clothes and accessories (Michael Kors sunglasses for $20? Sure, why not). Haven't bought any shoes there YET, but it looks like they have a great selection. As long as you have a little bit of patience to look through the racks of clothing, and you remember to make sure you're not buying anything that has any tears or stains (yuck), you can find some treasures here. read more

I came here recently during Christmas shopping season and I do NOT usually shop here. I don't know the last time I even stepped into a Marshalls but I feel like I was rediscovering it for the first time. I told my husband, "This place is cool... Look at this stuff... They have Coach.. They have Jordan clothes for kids.. Look at these kids toys, so cheap! I just bought one at Target double the price.. Why don't we shop here??!! We should shop here!!!" I was blown away by how affordable things were. They had a nice selection of housewares decor that I would actually buy if I were shopping for my house. It reminded me a bit of Dollars Tree due to the craziness inside there, the disorganized shelves, mess everywhere, limited quantities of certain items, hit or miss items (sometimes they're available, sometimes they're not), and sales associates not really helpful or know information about anything. There were two guitars by the front register and I checked all sides and there was no price tag or label. I asked the nearest cashier if she knew what the price was. She wasted time looking all over for the label that I already knew wasn't there. She asked someone else at the register if she knew what the price was. She did the same thing looking all over for the price tag. Um hello for the 15th time there is no price tag which is the reason why I'm sitting here wasting time and asking you guys. They proceed to talk, "There's no price tag?" "No I don't think so. Here let's look again." After what seemed to be a lifetime of looking, they decided to call and ask someone that was at another part of the store. "Do you know how much these guitars are?" "Which ones?" "The ones by the register" "There's no price tag on them?" "No" "There's not even a label or sku?" "No" "Ummm... 89.00. How would she know that without scanning or seeing the actual item? What if it was on sale or marked down? I was not satisfied with this estimate of price that I felt was totally made up and expensive so I decided to pass. It was a total waste of time waiting for them to try to figure it out and then just ask someone who pulled a price out of her.... Anyways I would not trust them if something was untagged and they just made up a price because it was the only item in the store. The other brand name items with a cheap price tag are worth it though. read more
