Review #300... Woohoo!!!!!! I don't live anywhere near a Daiso. So when I'm in town visiting my family, this is one of my stops. This location is located in the same plaza as 85 Degrees Bakery and Mitsuwa, where the old Chinese buffet was. Like people have said in other reviews, this location is a bit smaller. The aisles are smaller as well. However, they don't lack in merchandise. Everything is organized by section. Toys, office supplies, kitchenware, etc. they have something for you every need. There are also hidden surprises you'll realize you don't need until you see it. Everything is $1.50 unless it's marked otherwise. In the past I've found a broom/dustpan set, an iPad stand, cute Tupperware and other tchotchkes. I also like their selection of Asian snacks and candy. Two thumbs up! I'm a fan!!! read more

The South Bay's newest Daiso location! Located near Mitsuwa. It's my favorite place to come for cheap (~$1.50) items like containers, towels, stationary, cooking stuff, novelty items and more! This location is the smallest of all the Daiso locations I have been too, but it's super new and clean! It's also closer to my house, so that's neat for me. I never have a problem coming here, I always find something useful (and not so useful) for super cheap! If you've never been to Daiso, you're missing out. They do accept credit cards, but everything is final sale. Take note. read more

While his is not my favorite Daiso location, I love their goods, so I am still a huge fan. The parking lot can be a mess, the store gets pretty full and is kind of small and cramped, but I never leave without finding a ton of cute stuff that won't break the bank at $1.50 each. Same as the other daisos but BIGGER. If you're not familiar, I'll lazily copy the review I did for the Koreatown daiso for your reading pleasure: I love this place! It is like a Japanese version of the dollar store, but better due to higher quality items. Those familiar with the 100 yen shops in Japan know exactly what I'm talking about. There are a variety of products ranging from household goods, to beauty/hygiene items, stationary, dishes, cookware, snacks, and more. Everything is $1.50 or less. The cookware/dishes are quite durable and last a while. We still have tongs, spatulas, beer glasses, and more that we bought a few years back. And of course many of the items have a touch of that Japanese cuteness that they're famous for. A cool place to check out at least once, and don't be afraid to go crazy, as it only $1.50....until you have a full basket. read more

Finally a location that is somewhat closer to me! This Daiso has a way better selection than the one on Hawthorne, but not as good as the one in Gardena. Still saves a lot of drive time though. Be aware that because of the cheap price (everything $1.50 unless otherwise marked), that some of the stuff may be poor quality. Pretty cute things sold at this Daiso Japan location. My sister lives about a mile away from Daiso Japan and recommended that I go in and check out all the cute things! Cuteness overload for sure! You can get anything and everything for work, school, play, home, car, kitchen, beauty, snacks and more! If you're into adorable stationary, stickers, erasers, Washi tape, gift bags and more this is probably your place to get them. I spent almost an hour here and didn't cover the entire store. Very overwhelming but fun! I walked out with a lucky cat, a car freshener and a kitchen sponge. I was so in love with the car freshener and was sad that they only had ONE left of the one I wanted. Asked the worker and he told me that they did receive a shipment and it would still in boxes. Oh well. Almost everything here is $1.50. I came here the day after it opened and all I can say is I love this place! I'm use to the Dollarama and other Dollar stores we have in Canada that sell mostly the same inferior yet cheap made in China product. Daiso (most items under $1.50) larked back to my memories of being in Japan in the 100 yen stores back in the year 2000! Plus made in Japan! I scored some great items on my visit! Some $1.50 Japanese LED paper lanterns! Some self masaging items (did I say $1.50?). Also some paper fans and even a pink digital watch (for my daughter...again $1.50)!! Seriously.....how can you go wrong? It's like a throwback to the corner hardware store but most things are $1.50! The store was clean and well stocked. The clerk was friendly and efficient at check out. Daiso is the Dollar store for Japanese goods. Most of the items in the store sell for $1.50. Each time we come to Torrance, we stop at a Daiso, so that we can get the knick knacks that we cannot find in Reno and we get them at such a good price. read more

My daughter and I love Daiso! We shopped at the Sepulveda location often and we were thrilled when this one opened in our neighborhood. My daughter loves the snacks, cute erasers and school supplies. I love the adorable dishes and kitchen items, beauty products, quirky tools and arts/crafts supplies. I buy wool felt in bright colors at Daiso for FAR less than it costs anywhere else, a wonderful charcoal mask that detoxes my face, unique bento tools and containers for making my daughter's school lunches special, the perfect bowls for ramen and salad, paint brushes, drip mats, sewing needles, etc. I especially love putting together an inexpensive gift for someone that will be unlike anything else they receive, complete with a fun card, adorable wrapping and decorations. I also have to admit that I get such a kick out of reading the quotes on their stationery, tote bags, labels, etc. because the English translation can be hilarious sometimes, and just as often it becomes more poetic than I suspect was even intended. Lastly, I notice that I always love the music that is playing at the Daiso on Western. I asked the cashier about it last time and she said it was just someone's playlist. First, I'd like to say I am a frequent Daiso shopper and I like their stuff. But like some of the reviews posted here, this particular store has extremely bad customer service and accuses their customers of wrong doing. Today, I was doing my regular shopping as i usually do and decided to pick up a laptop case. There was no price tag on it, so I figured it is $1.50 each. In both sizes 11" & 13" and in all Red and Blue colors, there is no price tag on it. I went up to check-out and pay for my items, the cashier said are you Ok with paying $4 for the laptop case? Of course my immediate response is why? There is no price tag on the item. The cashier said they need to check with the manager on the phone. While she's doing that, a more senior level employee behind her runs over to the item rack to check the price. After 20 minutes, they said no, we cannot give you the $1.50 price, and went on about how customers rip off the price tag. I said, "Excuse me? Are you accusing me of shaddy behavior in your store?" She had me come check the price with her to prove her point, and I see they have removed all the items and replaced them with ones with different price tag. I knew they were in a hurry because all the blue colors were gone and I know they had 3 left of the 13" and 4 of the 11". I was now mad... They were telling me it's the customer's fault story and lying in front of my face, knowing very well what they had just done. I didn't mind paying the extra $2.50, it's not about the money. But to accuse your customers with dishonest behaviors and deception is unbelievable, and intolerable. I will never shop at this store again. read more

I prefer this Daiso compared to the other ones as parking is very ample and the store isn't as busy as the other Daiso's. It also seems a bit more spacious and cleaner which is always a plus. Customer service is great too! Seems like they have the same products as the other Daiso's I've been to. read more

Great selection of items to choose from that range from things like: stationary, snacks, bowls, plates, cups, glassware, storage, gardening, pets, kitchen tools, car/home tools, brushes, some clothing apparel, laundry and other random items that you didn't think you need! I love getting the gift bags and the best find is a metal soap thing that you use to wash your hands with to get rid of onion, fish and garlic scents! I wouldn't really recommend you getting the glassware and ceramic dishes if you plan to heat them....not bpa friendly and you don't want that tainting your food or drinks. All sales are final too. Yeah, Daiso is great, and there are more locations opening every day. This one ain't bad neither, but it is smaller than most. While their dinnerware selection is as robust as any other location, some of their other sections were lacking. I didn't see nearly as many cleaning products as other stores, nor did they have much in the way of electronic accessories. Depending on what you're looking for, they prolly have enough stuff to keep you covered. But if you've been to other locations, be prepared to find a smaller selection. read more

My baby cousin loves to shop here, so I am frequently dragged by her as she peruses through the toy section, leaving me no time to look for my own stuff. :P When I do come here on my own time, however, I notice that it's always clean with a modern interior. Everything is organized and the products are great quality for such a low price. The only downside is that whenever I buy mechanical pencils or colored pencils, they seem to break much more easier than I anticipated. If you can find it at Daiso for $1.50, why pay more for it? This Daiso is smaller than the other two locations in the South Bay - Torrance (on Hawthorne & Sepulveda) and Gardena (on Artesia and Normandie). It's a bit out of the way, but I usually drop by when I'm in that mall which is filled with Japanese places - restaurants and market. It's definitely less busy here and items don't really go out of stock. However, there are less choices to choose from. read more

It fun to come in to see what they have in here. What I'm concerned about is if these plastics are safe. Do the products have BPA? There are lots of kids' water bottles, lunch containers and other plastic things. I just don't want to use products with known carcinogens. I did make a phone call, well, several. I'm so happy that Daiso opened another location closer to home! Now I can enjoy my favorite Japanese discount store even more. I find that this location has a larger collection of glass and plastic containers perfect for ingredients for cooking - in so many shapes and colors too! It's interesting that despite Daiso stores selling practically the same things, each one is strikingly unique and emphasizes on particular categories. For example, Daiso on Sepulveda Blvd. elaborates more on beauty items, large plastic containers, auto accessories, gardening tools and kitchenware while the one on Western Ave. focuses more on bathroom, kitchen and academic essentials. The one on Artesia Blvd. is quite limited and has a sparse array of what is normally found at other Daiso stores. The one on Pioneer Blvd. is limited as well. I've gotta say that my top two locations are the one on Sepulveda and Western. Ah, I just love Daiso! read more

pros...not having been to daiso in a long time, i can say they have improved quite a bit. i love all the little things that they sell here, just about something for everyone. are you looking for something for your bike, car, or office. then daiso will have some kind of plastic product made in china for you. and if you are lucky that item may even be made in japan. but cool location as it is right next to the mitsuwa. was here just this afternoon. my first saturday off in quite a while and my wife and i wanted to make it a quick turn around trip to LA and back. besides the place having just about a little of everything, it is also brightly lit, airy and clean/tidy. in fact it was like super bright and nearly blinding inside. the mid-afternoon sun didn't help that much either. but it was cool inside, as the a/c was blasting inside the store. staff are friendly and very helpful. want something but don't want to look for it yourself? then just ask one of the staff and they will walk you to what ever you are looking for. or if they don't carry it will bring you to the appropriate section of the store for you to find something that might help. we were in for plastic ware, something for storing ice cubes, as my wife the alcoholic needs them to make maitai's and old fashions. i also bought a new muddler and some other kitcheny things. best part everything is $1.50 unless marked otherwise. cons...wish we had one in the South Bay in San Diego. the only daiso i know of in San Diego is in mira mesa, and that is a bit aways for us in the South Bay. we used to have one when marukai opened up, but that has since changed names and is not technically a daiso. read more
