I was driving by their location and saw their big sign "Gifts"!! That drew me in. The best part about going in was that I didn't have to drive to the mall, or walk up and down aisle after aisle, or go from shop to shop. Everything I needed for my special someone was right here!! Daisy Ruth (Katie) took very good care of me from start to finish. She was above and beyond professional and supportive for my needs. Come and check out her boutique when you're in the area. It's well worth it!!

Cutest little shop! The owner is so very sweet and I loved looking at all the goodies and talking to locals who came by. I found sweet gifts for a friend's birthday and felt a sense of community that is rare in today's society. I would say if you're ever looking for a gift come by here first before a target or Walmart as it's much more personal and supports community owners. It is slightly pricey but was more than worth it for the kindness and more personal experience. If you haven't been you just have to go see it for yourself.

I think maybe the Philosopher's Stone is hidden away in there...but I didn't find it this time, so good luck! Prices are quite reasonable too! In the photo of this visit's haul, you will see a batik Balinese moon mask, a meteorite fragment, a pair of blister-pearl earrings (they match a blister-pearl necklace I bought elsewhere), polished shells, a fish magnet, and scallop-shell necklaces for the grand-daughters who are obsessed with Disney's Little Mermaid. Mike, the owner, loves to trade stories, so stay awhile and look around while you listen, I guarantee you will spot more treasures you must have! The polished shell napkin holders I bought last time are still in use in my home ;-)

The gentleman speaks fluent English. He says he enjoys when the vendors come and he adds to his inventory. He has wood, glass, silver and more from all over Mexico. So many beautiful quality items. I could shop to my heart's content. I bought bracelets, a money clip for hubs, earrings & hair clip for my granddaughter, a simple ring for Doc, a nativity scene with individual pieces. There were gorgeous stained glass but how to carry it back to Hawaii? I also bought colorful glass hummingbirds for our Christmas tree. The owner wrapped each piece in bubble wrap or individual bags and packed them in 2 compact boxes. It was very easy to pack in one of my carry on size suitcases. I would definitely recommend this shop. He told us which section was silver plated and which was pure silver.

Estuaries are great places for birders and bird viewing and this place is such a gem! Visitor center has an exhibition to learn about the Estuary, gift shop, ranger on duty, bird books you can borrow, restrooms and water fountain available. Ranger on duty today was super helpful and kind. She shared with me that the Clapper Raill could be seen here and gave me directions to take N McCoy trail and this was where I would most likely see this Rail, which is unique to this Estuary! I was pretty excited about that, however, since I came in the early afternoon. I did not spot one. Oh well, this means I have to come back! After this, I tackled S McCoy trail, which is a longer trail but when you come to the end of it, it where three water ways meet and this was amazing as so many birds were here. I got to see egrets, Willets and also some long billed curlews! Curlews have a very long beak and they are pretty striking birds! Wow! The path is well paved, flat and plenty of benches along the way. Great for a hike, bring your dog, come for a run, come for birding, enjoy a healthy dose of nature! No shade here so make sure to put on sunscreen and bring water. Overall, a lovely place to visit, definitely come check it out if you like nature and birds.

Parking is mostly street parking and a small parking lot at the Visitor Center. I started at Imperial Beach Blvd. and took the N. McCoy Trail and worked my way down to the end, where the water is between the north & south McCoy Trail. There's a nice look out there and a few benches to relax and bird watch. The trail I took was in good condition and consisted of compact soil and surrounded by the estuary and native brush, plants, and cacti. There were occasional benches along the trail. It was a good walk and I look forward to taking the S. McCoy Trail next time.
