I really really enjoyed this store. It was unique, dark, intimate, and very interesting. I spent a good 35-40 minutes in here just looking at everything they have to offer which includes: Baby clothes Candles and scents Birthday cards Decoration for the living room Kitchen items Jewelry and so much more All the items have a witty adult theme to it. It's meant for people who can appreciate a bit of sarcasm. The products seemed really well curated and intentionally thought of. If you get a gift for someone from here, they'll be hardpressed to find it in one of the major retailers. The store is in Little Italy and you essentially have to be walking by in order to see it. Other than the sign on the door, there's no flags, or signage on the sidewalk etc. to announce that the store is there or its open. Parking is atrocious given the area it is in. I lucked out and found a meter parking right in front of the store. I was at the Farmers Market on a Saturday morning beforehand and so it was clutch for me. Because the items here are quite unique you'll be paying for it. The prices are quite high. I think the owner was the worker we met. I've been trying for months to get into this amazing retail store and for whatever reason, things just kept getting in the way. But today, I finally made it there. And glad I did. What an incredible shop and so glad we got to meet the owner and curator, Sean Barnes. He has very good taste and if you're looking for super incredible gift items for that super nice friend, this is the place you need to visit. Love & Aesthetics is the kind of place that you travel to, and shop for that friend that's very hard to purchase for. This store has so many unique items, you'll definitely find what you're looking for here. And if you still can't figure it out, ask Sean for assistance, he will gladly walk you through some great ideas. The main reason I came here today was for the fragrances. San Diego is a wasteland when it comes to niche perfumes and fragrances (if you don't know about niche fragrances yet, come talk to Sean and he'll educate you on how popular they are -- aka fragrances that none of your friends of family will be wearing and that will make you stand out from the crowd). San Francisco has two niche fragrance stores and San Diego only has this single amazing retail location. Go there, just for the fragrance collection and bring a credit card, they are not cheap, but so worth the splurge. ($150-$300 ish but know those will last a LONG time....the kind of fragrances that last from the time you apply to probably HOURS later and well into the evening) The selection of gifts, greeting cards, home decor and eyewear was exceptional too. So happy I popped into this Love & Aesthetics this weekend. Went it at the suggestion of my dear ol' preschool pal who lives local in San Diego. Bought myself the most scrumptious smelling gardenia candle, had a load of laughs at the entertainingly irreverent cards and trinkets and enjoyed chatting with Sean about all his wares. With the world coming apart at the seams, it was nice to have something NOT serious to bask in for a change. I am in love with this store! I liked it the moment I went in but I honestly stepped away coz I knew all the candles would just tempt me. But since you get a discount from checking in on Yelp, I gave in to temptation! They sell Fornasetti candles so I had to get one! They sell various brands of candles so you have a lot of options. They also have jewelry! I got one with the anatomical heart in gold-plated silver. I wanted to get one of the blackened silver necklaces in the lock and key but I didn't want to get carried away. Quirky, Unique and fun all rolled into this little boutique shop located in Little Italy. My friend and I were strolling around Little Italy walking off a late lunch and stopped in here to browse. All kinds of merchandise fit for anyone who likes unusual gifts. This Love and Aesthetics location is waaay better than the North Park location. This location has the same type of knick knacks as the other location, but it seemed like the stuff here was more high end. I loved the ceramic animal lamps. I almost took the elephant lamp home, but it was a little pricey. There are a lot of great one of a kind gift ideas here. What really caught my eye were the wooden watches made from real bourbon barrels. I also saw some drink coasters that read "It's not drinking alone if you're pregnant." That was probably the funniest thing I've read on something in my life. These kinds of gifts aren't ones you just give to anyone. It takes a specific kind of person to appreciate this kind of stuff, preferably with a sick sense of humor. I will definitely be back to this shop to get birthday gifts for people I truly care about. Ordered a Jonathon Adler Gin Rocket Decanter on 8/26/2023. Received message nearly 2 weeks later that they were sold out but expecting more soon. Nearly 8 weeks later told the decanters arrived but were broken, and that I would receive one directly from the manufacturer. Messaged again in early December that I had not received the item, and received no reply from the seller. I requested a refund, and again, I have not received any response from the seller. Incredibly disappointed by the poor customer service and absent or delayed communication throughout this process. read more

I've been coming here for years. I see things here I cannot find anywhere else. It's like Barney's but better. There truly is something for everyone, every price range, every taste. Real adult stuff down to kids' things that are seriously adorbs. I do have to admit, it's a little obnoxious how many people come in here thinking this locally owned, small business is an insta-museum put in this Earth for millennials to use for their insta-amusement. It makes me uncomfortable, as someone that comes in here to shop. They purchase nothing, use the store as their personal backdrop and then throw a fit when they are told "no" for the first time in their entitled lives. Have respect for the owners and the artists, ask first (probably a new concept for you) prior to taking a photo of yourself with the awesome stuff, and THEN buy something on your way out to show your support for the few cool, locally owned small businesses we have left in SD. I kind of want to live here. Love and Aesthetics is just so pretty. It's one of the cottage shops in Little Italy on Fir Street. I've picked up a few greeting cards here in the past. There is a selection of cards on the wall across from the register. Cards are a little pricey, but worth it. Last time I was here I almost got a doormat that said, "My neighbors have better stuff," but I thought my neighbors might not actually find it as funny as I did. There is also a small selection of jewelry in the back of the shop next to the children's gifts. Beyond furniture and decor you can also find a selection of clothing. I was in Little Italy for lunch with my family yesterday and stopped into this store. It was our first time shopping here and it's packed with really unique home goods, jewelry, and gifts. We weren't in the store long but the manager (maybe the owner) felt we were. I made a small purchase and had planned to come back, however while completing our purchase he made a very snarky remark that after all that time in the store for only an $8 purchase that next time it would be a $20 museum fee. I loved the necklace but it was pricey and I was told numerous times it was 14k gold-filled and would not tarnish, so I bought it. I sent numerous emails and left messages, to see what could be done, only to be ignored again and again.
