I have been a return customer of Native Poppy for at least a year now! I love buying flowers for myself and occasionally creating floral arrangements or bouquets for myself and friends/family. I have a handful of favorite floral shops in SD and NP is definitely one of them. For bulk flowers - if you follow them on Instagram, they post and sell overage/leftover buckets of flowers on Tuesday mornings for a VERY affordable price ($55) - I've bought about 4-5 buckets over the last year. They have excellent selections, including locally-grown flowers. When you go inside the shop, they also offer plenty of other gift items (books, accessories, cards, stickers, etc) that's great for any occasion. The stem-by-stem flowers at the floral bar inside can get pretty pricey. However, if you're ordering an arrangement, I believe the price is worth for the skills of their florists. As others have said, parking in the South Park location can get tough, but if you go during less busy/peak hours, it should be better. read more

My daughter requested a bug themed birthday this year. It's become a tradition in our family to order a Native Poppy flower crown (which we dry and save after it's worn) and this year we decided to order arrangements for the party as well. I sent an inspiration photo and had some color ideas in mind. Native Poppy totally delivered! Figuratively and literally- I got a text the morning of the party that the flowers were on their way just in time for us to start setting things up and decorating. I'm so glad I paid a little extra to have them brought over in a refrigerated vehicle so we didn't have to worry about damaging them or rushing around. They were gorgeous! I wish I could hug the florists. The flowers were arranged so organically, and brought all the whimsy and vibrance we were hoping for. This was a bit of a splurge, but with such stunning arrangements- a little goes a long way. Not to mention the time and effort that goes into flowers and flower arranging. It was well worth the price to create the atmosphere that these accomplished. Guests loved taking an arrangement home too, so they will be enjoyed for more than just the party. Only tip: Michael, if you're not sure who specifically ordered the flowers, make sure you are friendly to everyone! My children bought an arrangement from Native Poppy and it was truly disappointing. The photo of the one that they chose online was beautiful! The actual arrangement that they made looked like it could have been bought at CVS. The colors were lackluster and a couple of the stems were not fresh. The arrangement had no depth of color either and the whole thing was sparse looking. My daughter picked it up in person and said she was disappointed as soon as they showed it to her and asked them to add something to it and they added a couple ranunculus-they exact same shade as everything else in the arrangement. I couldn't really get all the flowers in the pictures because they were all around the room but man the room smelled amazing and it turned out stunning. My fiancé was so surprised. Let me start off by saying that I've ordered flowers from native poppy several times now. Each time, I'm slightly less thrilled than the last. In the past, my complaints have primarily been unrelated to the actual product (flowers) I received and had more to do with the poor/dismissive customer service I was subjected to. Because the blooms have always been gorgeous (until this most recent experience), I was willing to let the less than perfect customer service go and even swallowed the high price point without much complaint. This time, however, the flowers themselves were a HUGE (and insanely expensive) disappointment. A little background/context: I recently lost a dear friend (suddenly, unexpectedly, and violently). I called during the week (Wednesday or Thursday) leading up to Mother's Day weekend, as I couldn't figure out how to place an order for sympathy blooms via their website. Side note: Their phone system also needs work. I was caught in a touch-tone loop for at least 5 minutes before getting through to a human being. It was very frustrating and I almost gave up entirely. Now I kind of wish I had. Once on the phone with an actual person, my hopes were briefly lifted. She assured me they'd be able to put a wrap together for me, despite the short notice, but I'd have to select one of their special/limited menu items (due to Mother's Day). As far as a mixed wrap went, I only had two options: "standard" blooms for $65 and "upgraded" blooms for $95. I was told the two wrap options were essentially the same size, but the upgraded wrap would contain more rare or special florals. Not wanting to seem cheap, especially when it comes to sympathy flowers, I decided to order the upgraded wrap. In hindsight, I could've (should've) asked more questions but I also wish I would have taken a screenshot of the website photos, because what I paid for is not what I received. To be blunt, only one flower in the bunch felt like an "upgrade" and although it was beautiful, it was hardly deserving of a $95 price point. Back to the order: My fiancé rushed to pick up our order on his lunch break (as the South Park shop closes at 3pm, well before either of us get off work), and hurried home to put the stems in water. Upon arriving home a few hours later, I was absolutely horrified to find a lackluster "bunch" of sparse blooms, with at least one stem broken off at the bloom itself. All in all, the staff may have been kind, polite, and willing to assist with a last minute order, but the product itself was utterly inexcusable. I would have raised an eyebrow if I had been asked to pay $50 for this bouquet. In reality, I was charged $102+ (after tax) and was even asked if I wanted to leave a tip. Needless to say, I will be exploring other floral shop options moving forward. Two stars given due to staff's effort to be accommodating and sympathetic. read more

Native Poppy is one of my favorite local flower shops in San Diego! There's no stone left unturned with all the details, including their written notes that come with their arrangements. Everything is stunning and the service is stellar! I always get the warm and fuzzies walking in. Oh, and I even LOVE that they have flower "happy hour" on Sundays and post when flowers go on sale on their social media. The more I can surround myself with flowers, the better. My only wishlist item would be more discount opportunities on the wild flower subscription. Getting 10% off of all items and arrangements is a nice perk, but perhaps a rewards system would be another fun reason to keep shopping there. For example, buy 10 arrangements and get the 11th one for 50% off (instead of 10%). Or a points system to unlock more discounts or free one-time shipping. Even a small birthday gift or recognition would be a great touch. I know that could seem like a lot to track for a smaller shop, but Native Poppy already has an amazing advantage with their artistry and locally grown flowers. Adding more perks would just make it even more special and offer more reasons to become a loyal subscriber. read more
