Absolutely amazing experience. Came for the second time in a week. First I had the Ravioli and it was fantastic. This time I had the white fish with sautéed vegetables and baked potatoes. Very fresh extremely well seasoned food, a nice fresh environment in this weather and couldn't be more pleased with the staff. Location is perfect if you are going to visit the Spanish Steps or the Villa Borghese or just go shopping down Via Del Corso. 100% recommend!! read more

Set my expectations low and was surprisingly pleased by how much I liked this. The fettuccine with ragu was the perfect texture - soft and NOT al dente like previous pastas we've had. It just tasted so fine and fresh!! The ragu was perfect. I'd seriously doubted the pizza without the basil at first but was surprised by the quality ingredients (still wish it came with basil on top rather than just mixed into the sauce). This restaurant seems to be on both sides of the street -- a bigger outdoor seating at the location closer to the Piazza del Popolo, but we kept walking (away from Piazza) because it was too busy/loud. We sat the smaller location, with 4-5 tables outdoors. Servers wanted us to sit outside in the cold and they didn't even turn on the heater next to us, to attract attention, even though their inside seating was empty. Our location did put "2 Servizio a persona" (coperto) of 3 Euros. We ordered a Minestrone (evening was chilly), Calamari, and Polpette Funghi (meatballs w/ mushrooms). I had ordered meatballs at a different restaurant a day earlier so husband wanted more. These were bigger size but smaller quantity, and more game-y. I didn't like them as much as the smaller meatballs from another restaurant that wasn't as game-y. No complaints on the other orders. Head server was fluent in English and, while service here may not be up to American standards as mentioned by a previous reviewer, we had no issues. Can't expect same in Italy as in USA. read more

My boyfriend and I were walking around the Piazza del Popolo when we got hungry... and I am so glad we stumbled upon this convenient restaurant! It was completely full, and we only had to wait for about five minutes before being seated. There wasn't much of a place to wait, as the place was small, and we were somehow always in the way. We read a little about the history of the restaurant, which was detailed all over the restaurant in pictures and captions. All I can say is that I dreamed about the Florentine steak and potatoes for days and wanted to come back! The steak was thin and tender, cooked so that even the fat was enjoyable. My boyfriend also enjoyed his rigatoni, and the prices were more than reasonable. The service was a little inattentive (as seems to be the case across the board relative to American standards), but at least the food came out fast. I don't believe many other meals in Rome matched up to the one we had here, and I would love to come back! Luckily, it'll probably still be here, considering it's been around since 1936. read more

Stopped at Dal Pollarolo 1936 after a day long tour. Our tour guide pointed us in the direction of this place. This place was decent but not as good as other restaurant in Rome. The steak was juicy and had great flavor. The carbonara pasta was average in taste and a bit pricey. The house red wine was one of the best house wines I have had but I do not remember the name. Everything in this restaurant was about 2-4 euros higher than other places in the area. Staff was friendly and made recommendations. Three stars due to high prices but if you are looking for a good steak stop on by. read more

We popped into this pizzeria while we were walking through Piazza del Popolo. I didn't think it was touristy. It has two sides of the restaurant for seating. The server was prompt and pizza came out within 10 minutes. There were only a few tables open. We got pizza with sausage - sauce tasted good. No coperto for seating. We found this place on Yelp when seeking a nice meal. It had several good reviews and a 4-star rating. We agree with these assessments and had a really great meal with stellar service. They were able to seat all 3 of us without a reservation around 8.30pm on a Sunday night, which was very accommodating of them. We walked right in and were seated. I'd like to say now that every staff member with whom we interacted was terrific. Their English was great, they were prompt, they ensured we were happy, and our service ran like clockwork. My husband and mother-in-law began with a classic starter of prosciutto and melon. This simple dish lives and breathes by the quality and freshness of its two ingredients, and these were great. I skipped a starter but had pasta Rosa for my primi, which is ravioli filled with ricotta and spinach and topped with a rosy tomato sauce. Absolutely scrumptious and the pasta was cooked perfectly! My husband had the saltimbocca which he said was very good, and mother-in-law had a fantastic mushroom pasta dish with giant tubes of perfectly cooked al dente pasta. My main of Scamorza cheese with Parma ham was amazing - the cheese was grilled perfectly. We also had two shared vegetable contini: chicory served with lemon and olive oil (yummy!) and roasted mixed veg. Both were really nice. Soo delicious, if you are looking for a more real Italian feel, come on in. We were just wandering around looking for a place that didn't seem to cater towards tourist and we guessed right. When we walked in the restaurant was filled with warmed, both from the contrast to the wind outside and the exciting Italian chatter. Popped in here for late lunch on a Sunday because my wife and I were staying directly across the street and it was raining to beat the band. We wound up eating here two more times over the next couple of days, we enjoyed it so much. Spaghetti alla carbonara was delicious and even better the second time around with some shaved black truffle. Roman-style tripe was incredibly tender. The steak was thin and yet perfectly cooked (something I find Americans have a hard time getting right; the thinner the cut, the more we overcook it) and so well seasoned that I may have enjoyed it even more than the bistecca I'd had in Florence a few days prior. The house wines, as everywhere in Italy, it seems, were delicious. Prices at Pollarolo are much more than fair, and across the board. A great place to eat well without going broke. The third time we ate here, the place was really jumping, and even then, the service was excellent. Everybody we dealt with was pleasant, patient, and had a nice sense of humor. We waited what felt like a while for the check, but I'm pretty sure that that's the standard experience for Americans in Italy who haven't had a chance yet to adjust their internal clocks to a more civilized way of life. As far as I'm concerned, a long wait for the check is just an excuse for another glass of grappa. read more

We were looking forward to a dinner here, but had to leave on account of the staff being so rude. We ordered drinks just a couple minutes after entering and asked them to return later to order food, but it was obvious they just wanted us in and out. We could then see waiters pointing at us and making ugly faces because we didn't order food moments after entering. My family and I stumbled upon this place one evening. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their dinner. I ordered the cheese plate and it was by far the best cheese plate I've ever had. The food was average, yet filling, but the service left a lot to be desired as our waiter was fairly surly and would not accept a credit card: cash only. Just stopped in off a long walk to Piazza del Poppolo small little place, but the food was excellent, wood fired pizza was perfection!!!

This was a local pizza spot and we just wondered in near our hotel. We loved it. We love casual places and after a long day of walking this was simple. Family owned restaurant. People were extremely nice and again most of the people in the restaurant were Italian but spoke to us in English. House red wines and a couple of pizza's was perfect. read more
