Great Indian food in an amazing setting…read more The Kings Repose is set in a very old English cottage which is cozy inside and beautiful outside The place is always buzzing so make sure to make reservations and be ready to wait a bit at the bar on the ground floor. There is plenty of Cobra beer to keep you refreshed during the wait. Servings are quite big and great for sharing

Simply the best for taste and value for money! The service is always excellent and waiting times are shorter than anywhere else I know. The atmosphere is brilliant and nothing is ever too much for staff. I for one won't go anywhere else now I've found Clove...well recommended!!

I'm happy to say they are back on form. She opted for the £6.95 set menu and I had the £7.95. We both chose prawns for starters which is the only reason they're having a 4 star not 5. The prawns although tasty were the tiny pound a bag from the freezer shop variety and the Wifes were so tastless she was slapping the red poppadom sauce over them to perk them up a bit. The rest of the food was bangin, I had a chicken tika balti made hot as a Madras. Yum. She had lamb sagwala which was very nice. We both had pilau rice, shared a Nan (extra £2.25 for the peshwari) and I got ice cream and she had fruit and cream for desert. The ice cream was creamy and had a drizzle of syrup over it and the fruit was the kind you get out of a tin with some pouring cream so nothing fancy but by then we were stuffed. The food is very good, the portions are small but the prices are cheap so that makes up for it. The taste of the mix grill and curries is very authentic. We we on a Sunday early evening so it was busy but we managed to get a table for the six of us ok. I would recommend booking if there were any more then six of you though. So as for the food, we ordered enough for 4 of us to be absolutely stuffed for just over £30. This was for the large mixed grill, chips, two curries and 4 naans. All very tasty. The keema curry was a bit too spicy (all four of us agreed) which was a shame as it took away the enjoyment of the other tasty food a little. Overall very flavoursome and fresh though! I'm giving four stars as the dining area was quite loud and chaotic and there wasn't waiter service. I would give back though!

Jivan's is the bomb…read more I spent much of my college years partying in this horrible town and I never once thought to visit this place. Then one of my good friends in my later years promised me this would be a great place for a curry. So initial thoughts is it definitely looks outdated outside and in but surprisingly it is not all that uncomfortable with the old wooden decor. I will admit in around 20 visits here I have only ever order the one dish and that is the minced lamb curry with naan, it is that good! It is a family run restaurant and they are very awesome folk who work here. I have only ever been during the week so not sure what the weekend rush is like.

Great tasting curry and a good portion served in a balti dish. Their chicken tikka sizzler starter dish is great too (£8.00 but can serve 3/4). Take-away also available. Look on the W/ton council website for the environmental health scores on the doors and Jivans scores one of the highest (4 stars) in the town for excellent food standards and kitchen hygiene. Better score than places that charge twice as much! Its only a small place with formica tables, so its not the sort of place for a special meal, there are far more swankier places to visit - but for a quick curry in a hurry after a real ale session, or a curry before the theatre this place can't be beaten. Great food, good portions, great prices - my favourite place.
