Today I was a lady in distress and Dale's A-1 Transmission Service came to the rescue. I drove off the freeway and heard a noise coming from underneath my Van. I pulled off the road and looked to see a piece of my front bumper was hanging half off half on. I couldn't do anything with it myself so I pulled into the first "auto" place I saw, Dale's A-1 Transmission Service and asked for help. They couldn't have been any kinder. A young man came out of the shop right away, reached under my van, pulled the part off with some amount of work. He wouldn't take any money. I was so appreciative and will take my business there should I ever need work done. I took their time and I wasn't a customer but they wouldn't take any payment! God Bless America! read more

I was on my way back East from Washington and the front seal of my vehicle's transmission gave out. I gave Darren a call and wanted to know what the average price of this repair would be; he said they don't give over the phone quotes and "their diagnosis is free" ... red flag #1. I patiently waited for many hours, and halfway through they told me I'd probably need a new starter, the mechanics had broken/chipped the top attachment hole off and they weren't sure if there'd be enough to grab... red flag #2. Three and 1/2 more hours passed, including watching the entire staff go on lunch break, and sometime later, finally see them roll the car out the shop. The bill of labor and "hooking up / scanning module" was extremely overpriced; $75 to hook up a CPU scanner that takes make 5 minutes... red flag #3. 6.5 hours of labor even though 1 1/2 hours of that was a lunch break... Oh, and I was told they tried to "fix my ABS light issue" by replacing the rear tire module, which only made the problem worse and now my speedometer shakes. Point is, if you can, avoid this place entirely. And if you cannot, ensure they only do what you asked for and be very cautious. They knew I was not from around there, needed to be on my way and absolutely had to get it repaired... Dale would be disappointed with the way things are run. Gave it two stars because from what I've seen, they did fix the initial problem: my transmissions front seal. read more

As a follow-up of my previous comments, I disputed Dale's excessive towing charge with my credit card company, American Express. Even though Dale claimed he shoveled (by hand!) over 200,000 pounds of snow to get my truck out of a ditch, the dispute failed because old Dale makes his victims sign an invoice that says that all work was completed. So you best make sure you want to pay for his work, because he is definitely go to make you, even if it means telling a whopper like he did. read more

I spent four years and countless dollars on the restoration of a 1970 Mustang. Part of that restoration included having Dale's build a rear end for my car. After the car was finally done and I was able to drive it I started noticing a high pitched squeal coming from the back of the car. This noise grew louder and more pronounced by the day. Finally, with less than 700 miles on the car I took it into a repair shop in my home state of Colorado to have the rear end inspected. A very reputable transmission and rear end shop in Fort Collins looked at the rear end and determined that they would have to rebuild the entire rear end due to an improper installation. I was informed that the crush seal had not been properly torqued during installation. I called Dale's to ask about a warranty. I was told that they would stand behind their work. They initially indicated that they would like to see the problem, but as the car was about 600 miles away that wasn't going to be possible. Devon Long had told me that he would be happy to cover any parts that may be needed if they were defective. I told him at that time that I already had my local shop working on rebuilding it and that they already had the parts. Devon wanted to talk to the shop that was doing the work, but the local shop did not want to get in the middle of a dispute. Over the course of several weeks I spoke to Devon several times, each time asking what he wanted to do since the replacement of actual parts was not necessary. Trying to be reasonable, I asked if he would cover the cost of the parts. I even offered to either send pictures of the old parts or to send the old parts to him. Devon indicated that he would be willing to do that but he wanted to see the parts first. I sent the parts, at my expense (approximately $70) but never heard anything from Devon or anyone at Dale's despite getting the UPS confirmation that Dale's received that parts. About a month later I again called Dale's and spoke to Devon. This time Devon was quite defiant, stating that there is nothing wrong with any of the parts and he knows that there was nothing wrong with the installation. Devon went on to say that because no one from my local shop would talk to him there is nothing he can do. Said he would have had to talk to someone who knew what was going on but because he couldn't he now claims that I was not in need of any repairs despite the noise that I was hearing from the rear end. That noise, coincidentally, has vanished since I had the rear end rebuilt locally. Devon suggested that I am mad at him because my local shop did an unnecessary repair to which I replied that I disagree that the repair was unnecessary and that I was upset because he has changed his position and is refusing to stand behind his work. I explained yet again that the only reason I had to have the rear end rebuilt was because of the noise it was making within a few hundred miles of leaving his shop. The local shop that repaired Dale's mistakes only charged a fraction of the total I paid to Dale's. In my opinion, Dale's A1 Transmission not only does shoddy work but they offer a warranty that does not actually exist. Run, don't walk away from this company! read more

Paid over a grand took it back several times the last time 4th gear was just holding in place but I needed the truck, after a few months it started jumping out of gear again just pulled it the other day to put in another one. Had a identical trans took that one to North of Rochester on my way to WI, picked it up on the way back (4 days later) rebuilt right for 1/2 the money and not as noisy! Not taking the one they worked on back again just a waste of my time will pay someone to fix it right. read more

These gentlemen are dishonest to say the least. They did clutch work on my vehicle. It took a long time to get my ride back. After only about 100 miles - clutch went out again. I took it back and let them know I was unhappy. They refused to fix it. I'm not so sure they fixed it in the first place. They were expensive and rude. I would never recommend or go back. read more

pretty expensive, the only reason I went there is because we broke down on our way home to Washington. then when my tranny went out while still under warranty, they had me take it to a shop that they chose only to have it shipped to them instead of being repaired near me. the explanation, its complicated.so I'm stuck with a three week car rental, no truck and no explanation. read more

I was out of town going on a hunting trip when my transmission went found Dales a1 close my current location had them rebuild my transmission kept telling me about this atra certificate they had and how the warranty was nation wide got back home to Pennsylvania and the transmission went took it to a local atra shop and turns out they didn't give me an atra warranty just there in house warranty and won't do a thing for me hope karma one day catches up with them!!!! BUYER BEWARE. Not only did they use the wrong parts on our vehicle's transmission rebuilt but they did $ 1,000 worth of damage to the outside of it. Then refused the claim they told us to fill with their insurance company! After a short time our transmission went out again. We took it to a different shop, and the mechanic couldn't believe they rebuilt it with the wrong parts! Totally untrustworthy, bad workmanship, and dishonest to us to boot. These people are thieves!!! DO NOT bring your vehicle to their shop. They do not stand behind their warranty and charge huge prices for work.
