But they work with the kids and my kiddo learns so much with each new class. My child is genuinely excited to see the little friends that have been made! If you do come across a concern staff takes you seriously, and it is resolved. They are always friendly to the grandparents that pick up my kiddo too, and know who they are.

The website says they have won awards for being good with kids who have special needs - they were not good with my son, who was just diagnosed with ADHD. The parent manual says they work with parents if kids have trouble in the classroom. They did not work with us, although the director did tell me that they worked with another child for a year until he went to kindergarten and ended up bringing a knife to kindergarten. It seemed like they favor kids who have been there for a long time or whose parents they know, I'm not sure. They did not appear willing to work with our son's therapist to develop a plan for our son, either. The director told us, "sticker charts don't work." I also didn't feel like they did much "teaching." My son did not do one worksheet during his time here. I did not see any educational work coming home. The children in his class seemed to bully a lot for such young kids. They called our son a cry baby and made fun of him for calling his mom "mama." The teacher is very experienced, but she appeared to be worn out or overwhelmed. The facilities are inviting but seem crowded and less than pristine. On the positive side, I will say that my son had fun with a lot of the activities they did, such as the summer luau. The director is pretty good at communicating with parents, even though I felt that she was either biased or dishonest in her communications with me. Bottom line? If your child is a fairly easy kid, and you aren't too focused on your child getting the best educational environment you can find, this school might work for you. If your kid is hyper or challenging like mine, this might not be your first choice.

The Octopus Garden has become all three of my children's home-away-from-home. They feel safe. They are loved. They learn. They have good friends. It's a preschool where manners and kindness are taught along with the ABCs and 123s. It is a very special place, a place that is governed by Love. Now when I drop my kids off at The Octopus Garden, they run in happy! They are greeted with smiles and hugs and everyone is eager to begin the day. Each week they are introduced to new concepts, books, activities and are fed healthy meals. The dedicated teachers at The Octopus Garden have become our true allies in parenting. They are our friends and they do indeed feel like our family. My husband and I are comforted with the knowledge that our kids are being provided with the same care and kindness that we provide in our home. As you can imagine it is not the most ideal (is it ever?) to send a newborn to daycare. They have exceeded my expectations in every way. Every single employee is so pleasant to talk to. Their communication has been seamless. I am not able to physically meet her teachers, but we have had zoom calls and they have an amazing app that they send constant pictures and videos throughout the day. They do such a fantastic job at trying to figure out this whole new norm we are living in. Most importantly you can tell they loveeeeeee the kiddos. Genuinely love and are happy. I toured quite a few daycares and you can tell when employees are not happy. I could ramble on about all the great things, but you get the point. Dr. Evangelista is putting students into excess credit hours of music that will not transfer. Excessive hours lead to students being charged out of state tuition at 4 year colleges and universities in Texas. Financial aid does not cover those thousands of dollars in increased tuition. Excessive hours can exhaust students' financial aid leaving them to pay for their college out of pocket. Dr. Evangelista dumped all of the Richland Choir alumnae that came back to sing. What was once the most successful two year college choir in Texas that toured nationally now after 3 years under Evangelista has only 7 singers. He has totally destroyed this once well respected program. Older students are not welcome and college age students are sure to be advised into disaster.

And refuses to return. None of us are prefect, but I'm private and only one side was heard. Grace wasn't given, love needed to be earned. This church was the final straw and after decades of me searching for God, this Church taught our family that Faith comes from us and not a building full of judges. My kid saw it before I ever did. And that's heartbreaking. Since we left...we coparent and our kids are thriving without having to meet so many moral expectations. So maybe the heights saved us in the end.

My…read morehusband and I love the contemporary 11 a.m. service, but they also have a more traditional 9:30 a.m. service. There are life groups for all ages during the services. (The one I attend is for the 50+ age group at 9:30 a.m., so we can attend 11 a.m., and we love it too. It's called Open Door.) I believe their is a mid-week ministry for young adults, and there definitely is that for kids and teens.
