Well, family of 7 VIP tickets and there is no "food" except jelly bellies and salty bland trail mix. Also, more importantly ... ADA standards not adhered to by any means. I mean the "centrally located restrooms (outhouses)" are one and a half football fields away and that is one way. The beverages were a plenty, yet with an obvious need to use the bthrm if staying hydrated --well very very sad and disappointing. I love the Dallas Cowboys so much - and have for so long - that I named a dog Landry. I've been through a 1-15 season with the Cowboys, through Tony Romo and through more than 20 years without a Superbowl win. But I probably wouldn't do Cowboys training camp in Oxnard again. And unless you're a very hardcore fan with no fear whatsoever of melanoma, you could also give this a pass. Here's the aggravating thing... the Dallas Cowboys are one of the most profitable - if not THE - most profitable sports franchises in the world. The WORLD. So they can absolutely afford to do pre-season somewhere with... you know, shaded bleachers. And bathrooms. I get that this is free (except parking - I paid $5 to park), but I'd gladly pay $20 or so to avoid the heat stroke and port o potties. I also don't get why everyone is advised to get a "Dallas Cowboys United" membership... I paid for one a few weeks before I went... I received some stuff (a car flag - I'm not a car flag kind of gal) but there seemed to be no benefit whatsoever at the actual Training Camp site. If there is, you couldn't tell... their tent was never staffed. It's possible that this membership allows you to STAND in an area near the field rather than sitting in the bleachers. Frankly, it was scorching hot and I didn't see how standing was better than sitting... but I'm also not an autograph seeker so maybe that was the benefit? Regardless, there was no signage so no way to know. Signage, in general, was not super helpful. If not for a couple of awesome Yelpers who responded to my messages and gave me tips, I would have been really lost. I love love love my Dallas Cowboys... but this experience, while I'm glad I did it... was a bit too "rustic" for me. I like my Cowboys in a comfy seat in a stadium with a lovely beer or two. One good thing - no anthem - so no issues. But this being Southern CA... there were lots of very cool signs in support of the right to protest. Take THAT Jerry! read more

For any real Cowboy living in the LA area that hasn't had the chance to check out the Cowboys live this is a must do at least once in your life. Besides the regular practice that you get to watch they have activities going on an hour or so before that where you can win prizes. The parking is kind of pricey during the week $10 for regular cars & $20 for over sized, weekend $20 for cars & $40 for over sized, but since it's free to watch the practice it's not so bad. They have to make some money for the community & the people working there somehow. When the doors open there's a section for kids 12 & under to get a wrist band to be in the area where the players walk by to go onto the practice field. This is where kids have the chance to get pictures & autographs with the players, the wrist bands are limited to the first 100 people. The have 3 giant big rig trucks that turn into gift shops where you can buy cowboys gear & even purchase your own customized jerseys. The snack bar now accepts credit card, but the parking lot is still cash only. FYI is you're easily bothered by dust you might want to bring something to cover your face, the parking lot area is on a dirt field, and the seating area to watch practice has bleachers on a dirt field so if you're at the bottom of seats you will be around a lot of the dust that gets kicked up by people walk by. Overalls your first time there will be pretty cool, you're around other people that are passionate Cowboy fans, & usually during the years when the Cowboys are in Oxnard their first couple of preseason games are in California or on the west coast. I got to see the Cowboys play the San Diego Chargers in the preseason the last two years for dirt cheap because season ticket holders have to buy those tickets & they end up selling them on Stub Hub because they don't want to go to those games. Go at least once, & show up an hour before the start time of practice. As a cowboy fan in LA you'll love it. read more

Your 2017 Dallas Cowboys! Yes here they are back in Oxnard, CA. So for the first time I went to Training Camp, it was a blast! Probably the best time I've had in awhile, mainly because you get to see right in front of you your team, your guys playing the game. They have vendors here for all kinds of merchandise, basic vendors for food, hot dogs, nachos, etc. I was able to say what's up to the Coach of the Dallas Cowboys, Jason Garrett, & left with a few player signatures, this can be achieved with buying a Dallas Cowboys United membership. So if your a fan of The Dallas Cowboys, this is definitely the next best thing than attending a game. read more

The Dallas Cowboys are back in Oxnard for their final year of training camp before moving to San Antonio, Texas. Knowing this, Deb & I headed over to the practice facility on Monday to see real life-sized athletes getting in shape for the upcoming season, likely a Superbowl run. I went to their Thursday afternoon practice. Practice is free but if you want to get up to the fence you have to buy a membership for $20, which also gets you some 'free' stuff. Then $10 a day on top of that for each day you want to be up close. I have to say in my 1 day going to practice I felt it was worth it! I got to meet 3 WRs and all were cool. They signed and took pics with fans. Other than that the whole vibe is great because it's not over the top like most other things in regards to this organization. It's your best chance to get autographs and pics with players. read more

I went twice for the military appreciation days. I had a hard time finding info online about it so hopefully this is a help if anyone else is interested in going: The Cowboys come out here for training once a year. Allegedly they will continue to do so till 2020. This year they had two days where military and dependents get in free. One was at the start of training camp the other was at the end of it. The event parking did not open either time till about three hours before the event. However it is advisable to show up early since there was a line to even park the car. Practice started this time at 3:45. I was in line to park my car at 11:00. Tailgating is not allowed in the parking lot so most fans did a version of it while in line to park cars. Parking is normally $20 but they let military park for free. No coolers or chairs or large things like that allowed. Purses are okay but subject to search. Once the car was parked I followed everyone else to another line. Here they lined us up by class. One line for regular admission, a VIP club line, a special access line for handicapped, etc. Large tents nearby selling club memberships. Local high schools selling snacks and water to the people waiting to get in. It's hot and no shade so bring a hat and sunscreen. They let us into the camp area around 2:30. Tent city had sports store (we had a 15% off), food and snack booths and drink booths. No alcohol sadly. The bleacher area by tent city was reserved for general admission. VIP and military went to stand in another line at the very end of the general camp area. Here they let us in at 3:00 and this is where it got fun. Large white tents with tables and chairs to sit in. Large water and soda machines in the tents and a pop corn machine. It was all free for the VIP/Mil and a smaller gated off area right on the field. It got crowded up on the fence but we had a great time. Got to watch the players run out, killer view of the practice. For my autograph hounds, the players that felt like signing autographs did so AFTER practice. In the two days I went I got Prescott, Sean Lee, Witten, the owner Mr. Jones, Byron Jones, Jeff Heath, Dez Bryant, and coach Jason Garrett. Hell even Howdy the mascot. I'm good with it. I'd have given two to three stars, but stayed for four practices until I leaned the lay of the land. Practices are spread over two fields. The close field that is wrapped three sides by stands, and the far field that is wrapped only by VIP unattainable passes. Don't kid yourself that the Dallas Cowboys.com VIP passes do anything. You can get in an hour early, and wipe with them. You can't get good seating. When you get there, look for the camera platforms. If they ring the close in field, the team drills (offense + defense) will occur there. If its the far field, go to the far end zone to watch. Better view than the main stands. If the camera stands ring the close field, then pick a spot on the 50. Once I knew the drill, it was very very cool. Good pics and a great time. Key, regardless your position, bring binoculars. An anonymous tip told me to, now consider yourself equally endowed. You'll need them. Worth the price for a cheap set. read more

I'm a total life long, die heart Cowboy fan! But after this visit to Oxnard, I hate the Dallas Cowboy owner Jerry Jones even more. Driving non-stop from Las Vegas to see my favorite team was a fun ride, and it was pretty nice to get out of the 110 degree temperature, and feel the cool breeze of the California coastline. Getting off the 101, and making a turn into a make shift parking lot of mud wasn't a pleasure, but what really sucked was the 10.00 parking fee to tip toe out of the mud into the event. Getting into the training camp was free for the public, and the Cowboys organization pulled out a lot of stuff for fans to see, and do before the team took the field. There was a display case that looked like it would take nuclear blast, that had all five Super Bowl trophy the team won. Also, I was quite taken back on the team memorabilia, and since it was the final days of camp, there was a lot of specials. Training camp T-shirts for 9.00, and Tony Romo's replica Jersey for 25.00. That was a score! Well, I took a seat in the free area, and realize the fenced was blocking my view. This sucked! Then I notice there was a few people with wrist band getting in to the sideline area, well I had to get one of those! I jumped out the seated area, and found this booth that was selling these bands for 20.00. Damn you Jerry, nickel and dime me again! Of course, I'm going to buy this wrist band, but guess what? It was first responder day, and the team decide to practice on the other side of the field. Everyone who bought this band got a suckered, because we had the about the same view as the freebie area without the fence. Oh well, but then one of the other fans told me the team will come by after practice to sign autographs if we're in this area. Then I didn't feel too bad, after all these VIP tags got me a free bag of popcorn and Pepsi max. Well, Roudy (the cowboy mascot) was throwing up T-shirt into the crowd, and I snaked it out of the air from a everyone else to get this T-shirt. Damn, I felt like Dez Bryant when I jumped and bump three people away from it. Well, the team didn't want to sign anything that day, and a few people got a few rookies autographs, but Romo and starting crew got worked by the coaches, and they went back the hotel. Some how, the T-shirt grab was the highlight of this day, because you could barely see the team from any area because of the double field, and from those rather large camera platforms. All in all, a great time. I only give it 4 stars because I'm a die-hard Chargers fan, and we were there as a b-day present for my boyfriend, who is a die-hard Cowboys fan. =) But it was super fun to see them practice, check out the merchandise, the Super Bowl trophies and all the other memorabilia, and just enjoy the vibe of a ton of people that are as stoked as I am about football season being just around the corner! One other note - Oxnardians are super friendly folk. We had a great time, and everyone we met was really helpful and nice on the whole trip. The 'Boys are back in town in 2012 after a sabbatical in their native Texas. Went out there to escape the heat of L.A. and because I love the NFL. (I actually dislike the Cowboys -- least favorite NFL team -- but I love the NFL and they were the only option in SoCal except for the Chargers.) Fun little fair with tents and cheap food from local charities and groups. And some Dallas Cowboys merch. The field was surrounded by rabid Dallas Cowboys fans. The team practiced and people cheered their drills. Lots and lots of drills. And Tony Romo and other players I don't know or follow. (Felix Jones did my fantasy team well last year.) All in all, a neat experience to have an NFL team in the L.A. area-ish even if it's the darn Cowboys. They have a history training here so glad Jerry brought them back. read more

i absolutely love my cowboys...i was born a cowboys fan so ive been one for 35 yrs..its tradition to drive to oxnard every yr with my family although its an 1 to 2 hr drive..im handicap i suffer from autoimmune illness so i walk with a walker or in a wheelchair..this yr i went in my walker but im a very slow walker..ive never have had to pay to be in handicap field area but this yr they charged..free handicap was 1st row in the top bleachers which under the sun was not fun...usually every yr they signed for handicap in the side area with the tacking dummies but not this yr..now being handicap i cant get across a field..tbh i felt degraded the staff by the fence werent very nice..they were like if you didnt pay you weren't important...my heart was broken as a fan and as a disabled person...i think this tradition ended today read more

Great experience! If you've never been to camp, you must! So much fun! You get to watch practice, meet players, get autographs, take pictures with the players, so what else can a person want? Yes, it's $300 to get the elite pass which puts you in the vip area. But that's where you meet the players and get autographs. I highly recommend going to camp! read more

I attended the 2016 Dallas Cowboys Training Camp. I'm honestly disappointed with the entire venue. Long story short, the food sucked. Parking sucked. Attractions sucked. The team didn't even practice on the field closest to the bleachers. So many Dallas Cowboys fans came with their families and showed sooo much love for Dallas Cowboys in California and everyone left upset. I hope they improve the experience next year and if not then I say they arent welcome in Cali and to keep that bs in Texas.... I've been to better local high school events within a better turn out. read more

Posting for a friend: TO ALL MY DALLAS COWBOYS FAMILY PLEASE SHARE THIS POST IT NEEDS TO GO VIRAL!!! I GOT KICKED OUT OF TRAINING CAMP FOR EVER! So yesterday I spoke on behalf of all the Elite members on why we were put in the vip spot with pretty much the general population after paying $300.00ea. For years we have always had a Elite section that was just Elite, and for speaking out on why things were changed without notifying us before we payed our hard earned money I was told there nothing we can do after Laurel Glenn asked us for our suggestions, at that point I was told I could not get my money back and there was nobody above her to talk to. After our conversation with Laurel Glenn she then walked away found a lady from the city they both approached the security that handles the Dallas Cowboy players and had a discussion about our conversation and he said he'll take care of me. As of this morning Cowboys staff and Oxnard City officials approached me gave me a check and told me I was permanently banned from all Cowboys events and functions because I've used foul language at staff, and harassing staff (laurel glenn)... Laurel Glenn brand marketing manager and Dallas Cowboys has had it in for me for the past 3 years. Two years ago when she started working the elite section I asked her why we don't have water soft drinks in our area that were stated in our contract when we payed the $300, from that point on I was on her list of people she did not like. Last year they brought in those refreshments but she still had it in for me and tried to make up lies on me in front of fans stating I cussed at her, thank God those fans that I did not know told security that she was lying and that made the situation 100% worse for me this year. So for speaking up for what we paid for at the Dallas Cowboys training camp they use me as an example to let everybody else know in the elite section to shut their mouth and don't say a word about what we do and how we change things regardless of your contract rights. I supported the Dallas Cowboys I've done fundraisers for the Boys & Girls Club of Oxnard I've donated a lot of money and time in helping organizations involved with the Dallas Cowboys training camp. I spent thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours standing in line at 3 a.m. in the morning until 5:30 p.m. to watch practice and get autographs, just to be slandered and told that I'm getting autograph to sell merchandise and multiple times I was told they wanted to know what I did for work and how I was able to be there every day and spend thousands of dollars on merchandise and how I was able to stay there every day for the entire training camp. which all of this is irrelevant and none of their business. I'm there to support the Dallas Cowboys, without fans like US the die hard fans there would be no America's Team!! I'm beyond hurt and ashamed at the Dallas Cowboys staff for what they have done to me, I've done nothing but support them and for all the staff that thinks I'm buying items getting them signed and selling them here's some pictures of my collection and this picture was taken 2 years ago. I have about 15 people in the elite section that have my back but are scared to speak up cuz they don't want to get kicked out permanently from training camp or any Dallas Cowboy events. Yesterday at the end of practice the last player to come give us autographs was Terrance Williams we told him you're the man and he told us right back without you guys here we would be nothing. And that's what keeps us coming back as die-hard fans when the players interact with us like he did yesterday!!! So if Jerry Jones or Steven Jones sees this and reads it they really need to check on their staff and how they treat people and the lies they make up against people because they don't like that person on a personal level and getting them kicked out of something they love to do every year! Great experience. Definitely get the 20 dollar passes to watch on the field. even though there was 3000 people there i easily got a great spot on the field. the first day i was on the right side of the close field (There are two fields they switch which one is the main field each day for the grass, which ever side has the tv cameras is the main one) and i had a GREAT view. within minutes i made my way up to the fence. if you want autographs, go near were the players walk onto the field, that is the only place were they sign. don't expect to stay in the same place to get an autograph, move around were the players are but if its a superstar and your in the back its best to move on. Jason Witten was right in front of me but he moved on. I tried to get into the dez signing but there were so many people. Right were the player is signing there is a blob of people surrounding him. Thickest in the middle, thinnest on the sides, if you notice that they are moving to the side, get on that side and hell get to you, but not to far to the side, still close. i got a 10 autographs, including michael irvin! if you see him there, go where the nfl network set is and wait for him to move, i followed him along the side and got his autograph. If you are worried about not getting an autograph, get an easy one by going to cole beasley. that guy stays for a while after. also, wait for at least an hour after practice ends to leave because lots of times players will come by when barley anyone is there and it'll be an easy autograph, i did that with terrance williams. overall, great experience. read more
