Dr Rodriguez works with Dr Behan. You have to park behind the margot building. The first time I came in I thought I'd be seen by an old mexican doctor. Little did I know he was not an old man but a young tired looking doctor. He sees patients during the day at the clinic and delivers babies when his patients are in labor. Meaning he is nonstop surrounded by prego ladies! So when I went for my check up appts he always looked tired and out of it. He was super nice and made me feel comfortable. I'm a first time mom so everything was new. Fast forward to my labor & delivery.. I was in labor when my doc was on vacay. It was the last day of his vacay and my baby decided to come out. The first thing he did was check on my baby's condition. He just came back from vacay and I was having contractions! My doctor took care of my baby and me. I highly recommend him if you're prego.

When I originally called to ask some general questions about what exactly a doula does, she was kind, patient, and so freaking educated about the process of childbirth. We were offered a tour of Baylor hospital (virtual due to COVID), newborn classes, and tons of educational resources after booking with NDDA. What stood out to me most was the fact that the all female team there just made you feel like you were so seen, every step of the way. As a Black woman, childbirth can be an extremely scary experience, just look up the statistics of mistreatment in the healthcare space for minorities. Melissa and team advocated for my husband and I. I wanted to honor my placenta because it's such an incredible and powerful organ, and I'm obsessed with the art prints. They're both framed and are hanging up in my daughters' room. I've worked with Meredith L. and Madison Prez for the placenta encapsulation. They were both very easy to contact and responded promptly over text. I worked with Madison most recently, and she picked up the placenta and quickly processed it and delivered it to my home. I got placenta pills, a tincture, the keepsake cord, and the art print. I am forever grateful for her because of the peace she brought me during my journey into motherhood. She would consistently checkup up on me, asking about my health and wellbeing. She was a wealth of knowledge pertaining to evidence based information on pregnancy, labor and delivery, breastfeeding, and postpartum care. I am so thankful for her knowledge and care during those very painful first few weeks of breastfeeding, I really don't think Luca and I would have been as successful without her! I completely underestimated what role she would play during my labor, she was vital to my mental state through the whole thing. When I was ready to give up around every corner, she was there to remind me of my strength and that what I was going through was normal and the pain was only temporary. Something I appreciated most were the scriptures she read to me that lifted my spirit and helped bring joy to my pain. After 30 hours of labor I was exhausted physically and mentally, and she said a prayer over us that brought tears to my eyes and renewed my strength. She knew when to crack a joke to make me laugh, when to reassure me with words of affirmation, and when to just be silent and comfort me with her presence...I call that a great friend! She also made sure I was always taking little sips of water or nibbles of food. She was always 10 steps ahead of me and my discomfort. Her postpartum visits were everything! Just having someone come over to check on my husband and me, mentally and physically, meant the world. When the rest of the world couldn't wait to hold the baby, she was there to hold my hand and tell me that everything was going to be okay. I actually cried at our last visit because I had grown so attached to her! I like to think it wasn't just the hormones talking! I can't forget to mention that this amazing woman spent 16 hours giving me counter pressure on my hips with EVERY contraction! Talk about arm strength! you will not regret having her apart of your birth team! Britany, I can't say enough good things about you! Britany was so amazing during our marathon birth. She was with us for 24 hours straight and took…read moresuch good care of me and my family. She noticed as soon as I stopped coping with contractions as well and was always there to change positions, provide hip squeezes, or give another idea or encouragement. She fanned me with a paper fan with peppermint oil on it when I was nauseous and helped give me guidance when I was in doubt. She was there for us before, during, and after our birth. She also took some wonderful pictures throughout our labor (many more than I posted because many are personal). I was a little unsure about hiring a doula initially and now I couldn't imagine going through labor without her. We will definitely be hiring her for any future births.

I cannot stress this enough - if you want a midwife birth, this is the place to go. It was the most amazing experience. They not only care about the birth of your baby, but they care about YOU.
