These are not normal numbers, especially not for an athlete. It's 7 years later and I'm still paying the price of this being missed. Ferritin numbers should be greater than 50 for survival, and greater than 100 for athletes. This also increases the risk of surgeries and other things - because surgery from blood loss can cause ferritin and circulating iron to completely tank - and for me resulted in post-surgical psychosis, which I found out was ultimately tied to severe iron deficiency. (Untreated iron deficiency worsens over time, especially if you're bleeding heavy) I would've really wanted a healthcare provider to inform me of these numbers, to inform me about the risks associated with surgery specifically, iron deficiency and anemia beforehand. However, she is an excellent surgeon, so I added one star for that.

I was told I didn't need treatment if I "felt fine," yet no one had informed me what symptoms to look for. When I asked questions, I felt talked down to instead of helped. Overall, I felt dismissed, uninformed, and unheard. I would not return to Dr. Abaigeal Thompson or recommend her to anyone looking for a provider unless you want someone who shoves birth control down your throat. Never ended up taking the many prescriptions- thank goodness!

I've had some mental health issues for as long as I can remember, and during my last pregnancy I struggled with it a lot. Working with Dr. Thompson was completely different. She took my mental health into serious consideration and made sure I knew how important it was for me to take care of that as well as my physical health. She is also the reason why I started seeing a therapist; as she heavily recommended it at the beginning of the pregnancy and that on top of my medicine management made the whole experience so much healthier mentally than my first pregnancy. I absolutely love Dr. Thompson and I'm excited to have her as my OB/GYN for years to come! Also, her nurse was incredible as well! Deliana (not sure how to spell her name, hopefully I got that right! During this pregnancy I was seen by both doctors as well as the nurse practitioner, and everyone was wonderful. The entire pregnancy went very smoothly, and I never had any issues. Every question (labs, ultrasound, at home care, insurance/billing, etc.) were always explained clearly. Like last time, I scheduled my appointments early in the morning and never had long wait times. I can't speak for other times of the day, but mornings worked really well for me. On the day I gave birth, I actually got to see both doctors, and I saw them again the following day. They were both very kind and made sure I was comfortable. Overall, I've had such a positive experience with this office. I honestly wish my other medical appointments could be this smooth and pleasant.

Everything is exceptionally clean and all the rooms have fun different themes. They even have a special exam room for kids that have all kinds of toys for them to play with while your waiting. I've been with Dr. Arnold for 24 years and for the majority of the time, she has had the same staff. Recently a few members of the staff have been replaced with new people. I have not been impressed. Many of them are unprofessional with a lack of manors. However, Tom is great. He's quick, to the point, friendly, polite and professional. I always schedule my son and my appointments early and we are seen on time. If you are an established patient, you will find the open clinic to be helpful if you need to be seem right away. I cannot confirm the time/dates. I always avoid scheduling my appointment around that time, as the office becomes very busy and I experience a long wait.

Instead of compassion or even a conversation, the receptionist immediately canceled my appointment. Her demeanor was cold, hostile, and completely lacking empathy. What makes this even more heartbreaking is that my physician had personally assured me I would not be dismissed from the practice. Instead, I was terminated as a patient with no continuity of care, no referral or transition plan, and my requests for my medical records have been refused. For over 20 years, I've lived with severe pelvic pain while searching for answers. A women's health clinic should be a place where women feel heard, supported, and cared for--not discarded over a matter of minutes. Healthcare policies are one thing. The complete absence of compassion is another. This experience has left me feeling abandoned at one of the most vulnerable points in my healthcare journey. Sadly, this has been another deeply disappointing experience with medical care in the DFW area. I sincerely hope no other patient--especially one living with chronic pain--has to experience the same treatment.
