We've seen dr Barnett for over an year. Turns out we have unexplained infertility which is as depressing as it gets since we couldn't figure out what to fix. Really sad for all couples going through their struggles of any kind and I'm sorry. I get it. Before finding dr Barnett we've tried a few other doctors and treatments which not only were unsuccessful but they felt like these drs were shooting in the dark and not really adjusting treatments, observing reactions, modifying dosages, etc. Also we didn't realize these drs mess up your chances because you can only be exposed to these medications so much - some are used in chemo to treat cancers and nobody tells you that either. Dr Barnett is not your usual soft compassionate guy - don't get me wrong, he's a nice person- but he's also the type of doctor that knows what he's doing, no bs, gets things done, always has a treatment plan and it's ready to move on to the next step after analyzing your reaction to the treatments, tailoring everything to your body. That works for me. After a few missed attempts I eventually got pregnant and I am grateful to him and his staff. Due summer 2018. And I read some older reviews about bad accounting or financial. They got their stuff together because we've never ever in almost 2 years gotten an unexplainable bill, everything was explained upfront. Without the help of Dr. Ku at Dallas IVF, we would never have had the opportunity to spend weeks in the NICU and to rearrange our lives to care for our medically complex daughter. We went in asking to be tested for a balanced translocation and Dr. Ku said he could. After the birth of our daughter, we worked with geneticists to determine that Dr. Ku never sent for the test that would have actually found it and that her issues can be tied directly to his negligence. read more

This is my heartfelt review of Dr Ku; not the administrative, lab or medical staff. This post will be long and contain a trigger warning for some. My husband and I wasted 3+ years of precious time and an exorbitant amount of money with Dr Ku. As this was the first clinic and RE we ever worked with, we made it a point to go into the process with open minds and without preconceived notions or high expectations. Being older, we knew the odds when we walked in for our consultation. Initially Dr. Ku was warm, friendly, confident, and professional. During our time with him, the confidence and professionalism began to wane. We had a natural pregnancy and three frozen transfers, two of which resulted in pregnancies. Unfortunately, all my pregnancies ended in miscarriages before week 9. Following my last positive transfer, and subsequent miscarriage, I was taken to one of the consult rooms where Dr. Ku proceeded to tell me that it would be in my best interest to either remove a few minor fibroids (which did not pose a threat to getting pregnant or sustaining a pregnancy) or "borrow a uterus" before attempting another transfer. This is verbatim what he told me just moments after his staff confirmed in my last ultrasound (before graduating from the clinic) that my baby no longer had a heartbeat and while in the presence of a family member who was there for moral support. I was taken aback by the unprofessional and callous nature in which Dr. Ku engaged with me after years of believing in him and his capabilities. My relative also thought the way in which I was treated was utterly distasteful. I no longer wanted to put my faith into and money towards someone who could treat a client that way. That same night, I found CRE in Dallas. The following month, my husband and I had a consult with Dr. Saleh, transferred our records and embryos and never looked back. I was given a simple test that confirmed the 'issue' behind our recurrent miscarriages, followed our new protocol and got pregnant after our first transfer with CRE. Twelve months after leaving Dallas IVF, I delivered a healthy baby girl at term and without complications. Oh and my minor fibroids are still in place! Staring into the eyes of my plump 3-month old today made me think about what life would look like had I followed Dr. Ku's advise or had I not the courage to find a more understanding, competent, and compassionate RE. I write this review not to bash Dr. Ku but to relay my experiences and encourage others who may be questioning their quality of care to advocate for themselves. My situation was complex. It's just unfortunate that Dr. Ku was unable to properly diagnose me. In the end, I found someone who could. It was a gamble, but one that was worth it and paid off in more ways than I can count. Please do not give up. You owe it to yourselves to keep moving forward. This process is stressful (and expensive) enough. I had high hopes for this clinic because I truly appreciate Dr. Ku, but I've decided to avoid the frustration and seek care elsewhere. Last cycle, I didn't even attempt to schedule an appointment because reaching the front desk is such a challenge. Today, I finally reached out and explained what I needed, and I was transferred to the nurse line, where I left a message. When the nurse returned my call, she seemed confused as to why I had been transferred and attempted to contact the front desk herself. When she couldn't reach them, she assured me they would call me back. When I finally received a callback, I was told I could be scheduled with Dr. Ku on Friday. However, after being placed on hold, my call disconnected. When I called back, I spoke with a different representative who told me I could come in on Monday for the procedure. I agreed, but when she confirmed the appointment, she mentioned a different doctor. I clarified that I wanted to see Dr. Ku, and she informed me that he was unavailable. Instead of automatically scheduling me with another provider, they should have asked first. I then asked when I could see Dr. Ku, and she told me to try again next cycle. At that point, I let her know I would be finding another clinic, to which she simply responded, "Okay, great--have a nice day." It's truly disappointing that some of the best doctors are surrounded by such unprofessional staff. read more

Dr. Ku is nice, but the reception staff are incredibly impolite. I'm not sure this clinic is a good place for people who need help and want to feel comfortable. As others have mentioned, the receptionists often don't answer calls promptly, and they show attitude if the conversation doesn't go the way they want. read more

Leaving a review here bc the practice manager has decided not to return my calls! I'm attaching screenshots (10 is the most allowed, there are plenty more) from an IVF support group with names and photos removed to show that I am not alone in this experience. Dr Ku himself is very nice. He is enthusiastic with a great bedside manner. I mentioned some health concerns specific to a syndrome I have and there was no education on what that could mean for pregnancy or this process in general, but honestly I didn't realize this was lacking until seeing a new reproductive endocrinologist. The office staff is horrible. I started with them end of May and just left end of August and we were just starting to schedule appointments where progress would have been made. They have double charged me twice and their billing department has no clue what's going on. The front desk people are a nightmare (I've left there on tears twice). I've been rescheduled last minute, talked down to, charged for testing and procedures I've already done elsewhere (and they had record). Dr Ku had me speak to his practice manager (Jessica) and it did zero good. They know they have problems, and have hired secret shoppers. For the past 3 months every time I went in, they had new office staff, not sure why they can't keep people. Their phone system doesn't work so it took two weeks from them to get back to me to schedule testing, and that was scheduled 5&6 weeks out. I thought we were scheduled do far out to get time on the doctors schedule but this was not the case- we only saw him via Zoom with the exception of 2 appointments which were they hysteroscopy and mock transfer. Face time total was probably about 5 minutes. They want you to message through EIVF due to the phone issues that but the portal isn't working properly and doesn't alert you when they message you. Not only do you not get alerts, some of the messages won't let you reply, and you cannot message the doctor directly. After 4 months I left. Even the process for getting my records was a pain, and the chick who I spoke to in order to initiate it was SO RUDE! The nicest anyone who wasn't a physician was after we left. Peyton was helpful in straightening out some questions dealing with insurance. Dr. Ku is nice but over all you're treated like a number. I had to wait 30-45 minutes at each appointment because they are always behind (including zoom calls but not quite as late). Dr. Barnett's side isn't any better (same office staff) but a bedside many have reported as not very pleasant, I have a friend that's been using him for 4-5 months and the whole process had been a huge headache and no success so far either. IVF is stressful enough without disrespectful office staff and being shuffled around like you are just another $20-30k to them. I highly recommend going elsewhere. Dr. Ku is nice, but he forgot or didn't review my medical hx prior to my virtual appt. I had taught several times of leaving this place but what prevents me is "all the work" I have done w them already. Front desk NEVER answer the calls, forgets to send zoom links for virtual appts that one has been waiting for weeks. If I have to do it again, I would avoid this place even when Dr Ku was highly recommended. This process is very costly and stressful and these incidents adds to the stress. read more

Dr. Ku helped us get pregnant twice. For my first pregnancy, I had to have a myomectomy. Dr. Ku performed the surgery successfully. I was pregnant two cycles later. He also is very kind with an excellent bedside manner. If you need a good fertility doctor, go with Dr. Ku! read more

Dr. Barnett never remembered who I was or what we talked about from the appointment before. Every appointment/discussion was SO rushed and high level I always left confused and like I never understood what the next steps were. The entire office staff seems miserable, like they hate their jobs and don't want to be there. They never called to schedule follow-up appointments. I was always following up and remaindering them that they were supposed to call me and schedule an appointment. But believe me, if you owe them money they won't forget to call you then. I felt like a bank account to them and nothing more. Definitely not a women desperate for help to have a baby. That seemed like their last concern. This was my wife's and I first time trying to conceive and we couldn't have had a better 1st time experience with Dr. Barnett and his team. We did IUI and got pregnant on our first try! Dr. Barnett was compassionate and informative about what we needed to do prior to trying to conceive. This can be such a hard time for couples, but honestly we felt like we were taken care of from the start. I couldn't reccommend Dr. Barnett more! The billing department gets a -0 in my book. They are horrible about sending statements that are not accurate, not updating their system ( we kept being charged for sperm storage, $750, for sperm that was no longer there.. Ended up having to pay for the procedure out of pocket. We set up a payment plan with them. After several payments were made, we called to go ahead and pay the rest off. We realized they overcharged us. I emailed them letting them know because I like to have paper trails, but they did not respond so I had to call them. I spoke with a Ulonda and she was nice at first but it did not seem like she understood what I was trying to say. She repeated herself multiple times and after I repeated myself to let her know that they overcharged us and that we made payments and that the error was on their end, she must've not liked that because her tone totally changed. For some reason it was not showing up in their system and she requested receipts which I emailed her the statements from our credit card company. If they continue to say we didn't pay them then we're just going to dispute it with our credit card company at this point. I'm so done and over Dallas IVF. DO YOUR DUE DILIGENCE. Looks like another patient had the same issues with billing/insurance. Make sure YOU call your insurance to verify that it will be covered. Do not take the word from the front desk staff. read more

Loved the staff and Dr. however when it comes to the SURGERY CENTER And LABS NOT COVERED BY ANY INSURANCE. Our IVF bill would have been $10 k for the first procedure. (It was $1 k at our current Dr. and we got quoted around $1 k from a few other facilities.) Don't be 6 months invested in and emotional from the meds to have to make the decision to jump days before you start IVF like we did. This was a very stressful time in my life. The fertility medications made me very vulnerable and emotional. I felt the front desk staff, lady at checkout desk (miserable) as well as some nurses could use some help in the empathy department as it felt very "routine" and heartless at times. However with that being said I loved Dr Barnet so very much and he really made my husband and I feel comfortable from day 1 of this journey. Despite how I felt going for my appointments I just always held on to the hope he gave us. My review is not about the doctors. Dr. Barnett is an amazing doctor. I had great results with him, but dealing with the front desk and billing team was miserable. The issue is their front office and billing team. There is a lack of professionalism, responsiveness and accountability. They need to fire the entire team and start over. The voicemail for the front desk is never returned, the staff is rude and unprofessional. I have had zoom appointments where they forgot to send out the login information on multiple occasions. Then they act like I am bothering them a couple hours before my appointment trying to get login info. The billing team, where to begin? I specifically asked if the embryology lab, doctor and surgery center were in network with my insurance plan. They said yes. They lied, as it turns out their embryology lab is NOT in network with ANY insurance. This is critical as many plans require in-network coverage only for reimbursement. I learned this mid-egg retrieval cycle. A cost not planned for as they charge nearly $10k for their embryology lab services. Before learning this, I even tried requesting appointments for a financial consult to understand full out of pocket cost estimates on numerous occasions and the billing department ignored voicemails, etc. Really nice to learn of a surprise bill with no choice to continue and not waste a cycle and meds. To make matters worse this billing team is not qualified to give any financial advice. My plan specifically says "in-network" is only to be reimbursed. There is NO out of network coverage. Instead of saying you should just pay for the embryology lab as self pay, they tried to tell me pay the out of network estimate and they would see what insurance says since insurance pre-approved the procedure. However, if it was denied I would have had to pay Dallas IVF the full billed amount at over $17k, which by the way, is never reimbursed by any insurance. This is questionable billing practices at best. I was also told the insurance should reimburse me for the lab self pay rate with a receipt since it was pre-approved. Completely wrong. I had the opportunity to appeal, there was a medical necessity form that would have allowed me to stay with Dallas IVF be considered in-network in my plan. The billing office refused to help me - yelled at me and hung up the phone on me. It only keeps getting better. The billing office failed to obtain proper pre-authorizations for a procedure which resulted in the denial of a larger claim. I spoke with my insurance, they said they sent notices and called the office with no response. The front office would not schedule critical appointments for my transfer cycle to be maintained until this amount was paid. Literally they would deny a person who is pregnant care, because of billing error they caused. We were basically held hostage to pay even though it was the result of their incompetence. I work for one of the largest healthcare companies in the country. I can tell you if you do not obtain proper pre-authorizations the cost is on you, the facility, not the patient. This again goes to questionable billing practices. There are many reviews calling this facility "scammy" and I can see why. We are moving to another facility for any future family building needs after this. read more

Not a good provider. They made us go thru multiple IUI cycles and only after we asking the reason for failure the doctor said we have "unexplained infertility". That was so depressing and after lot of thought we have started our IVF cycle. We are not sure if IVF would succeed, but one thing we know is this provider is much interested in money than patient. This is one of the worst provider finance team I have ever seen in my life. Absolutely sick about my standing with Dallas IVF Frisco, you go in these places so desperate to start your family, lots of testing to get some sort of answer why. Only to be told "unexplained infertility" I won't write a super long review, I dont have the capacity at this point after my issues with Dallas IVF- im crushed! All I can say is do your due diligence, they dont tell you possibilities or just how common MOST insurances dont cover their "diagnostic codes." Feels scammy now that I look back on it. I have been scrubbed off by multiple people in the front desk. Dr Barnett was great overall as a person and his nurses standing by his side, but the front desk has ruined my desire to continue this journey. My very last appointment, I go to checkout, after being there multiple days before and paying what I thought I owed each visit, then told you have $$$$ this dollar amount and we cant see you again until this is paid, I have tried to talk to them and figure out a solution to my problem, no solution, no comfort, nothing. I have gone through fertility treatments in the past and have another clinic on to base my review. The previous clinic was in San Francisco. I am very disappointed with how Dallas IVF has handled the process for me a patient. It started with appointments being double booked and the Doctor not showing up or showing up 20 minutes after the scheduled Zoom. Then I had my cycle planned for December and spent $2000 on acupuncture to prepare for the cycle only to find out at the beginning of December that they could not schedule it because they needed to clean the clinic the week of my retrieval, and I would need to wait a month. This was never mentioned and we had repeatedly discussed a December retrieval. I had pushed all business travel from Oct-Dec to January and managed to reschedule everything to deal with their mistake. No apologies on their side for this massive and expensive mistake. Lastly, and most importantly, my cycle was canceled last week as my body did not react to the medication, and I was seen and contacted by a Doctor I have never met. He told me I would receive a call on Monday with the next steps from Dr. Ku. Canceling a cycle a few days in to the process is very emotional and upsetting and we still have not heard from our doctor. Additionally this cancellation cost us $5k that we could have saved by not purchasing all the medication upfront. While we knew our chances were lowered due to my age, we were never advised that the cycle could be canceled and/or not to buy all the meds at once, especially since the pharmacy is across from their clinic. We only knew that our live birth success rate were lowered. If they felt the chances it could be canceled and they cared about their patient, they would have advised to purchase the first week of meds and wait on the second week. I am highly disappointed with the lack of care and professionalism in this clinic and would advise you to consider other options. Instead of contacting me the patient, I guess the Doctor was busy driving his kids to the private school they attend in Dallas (which he bragged about on our initial call). read more

I have to call finance and talk to her about how frustrating it is to not be able to make my appointments easily and she tries to transfer me to someone. I appreciate her! It's taken a while to come to reality with our treatment at Dallas IVF Frisco. I cannot recommend that anyone seek treatment at this clinic. You leave countless messages and rarely get a call back (finance team, nurses, scheduling, lab, all of them). Dr. Ku is very nice man, but most appointments he would come into the room, not realize or remember who i am, say something incorrect like "let's get you pregnant with baby number two" (this is my first attempt at IVF), or "what appointment are we here for today" and have to leave the room to look at my chart and then come back and say "okay hey there sorry about that i had to review your chart." He never addressed my husband by his name, at any sonogram, at the transfer or on zoom, he only ever called him "husband." He does give you his cell phone number to text with any questions on the weekends during stim meds, but says "well just know if you text me then the office staff will charge you for every text like it's a consultation." The nursing staff would have errors in paperwork, and after starting stim meds, would then tell me we couldn't continue because they forget to calculate my BMI. Fortunately the head nurse and Dr. Ku intervened and we were able to start. He had issues during my mock transfer, and then during the actual FET was flustered, remarking how difficult this was and he didn't know if he could get it placed. Then quickly, and finally he did, left the OR and told us goodbye. It was a very "bad feeling" experience. He never called to tell me about the results of retrievals or the pregnancy test, a nurse quickly called, instead. Which is very disheartening to not only be told you aren't pregnant, but that your doctor couldn't even call you to tell you about it. It took about 6 months to get complete medical records sent to my new physician, and several medical records fees paid during my time at Dallas IVF. Multiple emails, messages, and phone calls had to be made, and the records were sent very piece-meal over, just a few pages of files at a time after each request. The financial team did a thorough consultation of expected fees, and was very pleasant to deal with, but it is not transparent or realistic. The fees they present , especially on lab work are not accurate. They also don't tell you they will bill insurance XX cost, then bill you XXXX cost if it isn't paid, but if you cash pay then your fee is only XX cost. Frequently, they would call before a billing statement ever even arrived in the mail saying " you have a balance of XXXX and if you don't pay it we will cancel the appointment you have on X date." You can't pay a balance if you don't know it exists. Every waiting room time is packed, you wait 20-30 mins either in the waiting room or the consult room to finish your appointment. In our follow up Zoom appt after the unsuccessful FET (we only had one embryo), Dr. Ku had to review our charts in the middle of call after he mistakenly said "ready to try another FET?" And then had to review our charts because he had no idea how many eggs or sperms were retrieved for ICSI or how many embryos there were. He told us after the 1 embryo was frozen we should use a gestational carrier instead. and then reminded us again in the follow up appointment that he suggested a gestational carrier, it might have led to a higher chance of success. What an impersonal, careless, and very costly journey at Dallas IVF. If you have unexplained infertility, or complex infertility, this is not the place for you, and are paying out of pocket, this is not the place for you. read more

(PS stress is not good for trying to get pregnant) They schedule you for constant appointments, they do unnecessary testing without consideration to the client budget or insurance coverage. Dr Ku and his staff are simply amazing and so kind. They make you feel like family and you can tell they truly care! I went to many doctors before I found Dr Ku and I will never go anywhere else. If you have questions they will take the time to explain everything in detail so where you will understand and they make you feel super comfortable asking them those uncomfortable question. Truly can't say enough genuinely positive things about my experience with Dallas IVF. The front desk, the nurses and staff, and specifically Dr. Ku have changed our lives for the better and will always be family to my husband and I. When we got to Dallas IVF, we were hopeless after being on a grueling 4 year infertility journey with lots of loss and heartache. We had been at two different DFW clinics before coming to Dallas IVF And had horrible experiences there. Going to Dallas IVF showed me how a well run clinic should go. So professional and run so efficiently. You don't just feel like a number. Their care, kindness, professionalism, and responsiveness is unmatched. She recently has had a few more people get hired under her, who are all nowhere close to being in a client facing role. They keep repeating answers from a FAQ without ever listening to your question. None of them have a clue on how to bill your insurance if you have more than one insurance or an additional employer benefit. read more

We tried for a baby for over 4 years. After reading tons of online reviews and talking around town, we chose Dr. Lowell Ku with Dallas IVF. Hands down, one of the best decisions we've ever made! He put us through lots of one on one and genetic testing. After much testing, he decided, WITH US, what would be our best options, and ultimately left the choice in our hands. He gave us all the info we needed to make an easy decision, and feel confident and at ease. He is so kind and excellent at what he does! He never hurt me at all, and talked me through every test and sonogram. He really put me at ease in such a high stress situation again and again. We had 4 rounds, and ended up with one MC, one failure, one healthy singleton in 2011, and another healthy singleton in 2015. I think those are amazing results, considering we had tried every method known to man, and done 6 months of clomid with sonograms as well, before seeing him. Success finally in only 4 rounds, after trying so hard for 4 years straight. His entire staff was always friendly and excellent at their job. I don't have a single complaint with any of HIS actual crew. Now for the negatives. There are only a couple. First, I do not care for one of his partners, Dr Barnett. I find him to be very crass, blunt, harsh, and rough. Not really the personality I was looking for in this business. Luckily, I only had to see him a couple of times when Dr Ku wasn't free. Barnett did do a hysterosalpingogram on me, and oh my, I thought I was gonna die! He hurt me so much. But no pain, no gain, so I cried through the procedure and powered on. The other negative was the incredibly limited Sono schedule. I'm a busy nurse, and it was very hard for me to schedule my multiple daily sonograms in their limited window of scheduling. I'm 99% sure though that they have changed this since opening multiple locations now. This was back in 2011, and I just couldn't get out of work every other day in the morning for my Sono, and they had no other times available. So I couldn't fully commit as I needed to to my treatment plan, and had to skip a Sono or med adjustment here or there due to this. Like I said though, I'm fairly certain this is no longer an issue with the opening of multiple locations. It was all very worth it, and I would choose this office a hundred times over! read more

I can not say enough good things about this clinic. I had the best time experience and to top it off I am pregnant after almost 10 years of trying and going to several other doctors. Dr. Barnett was wonderful to work with. He was very detail oriented and guided us in the best way to be successful with our first try. The sonogram specialist was absolutely wonderful. She explained everything to me and answered any questions that I had. The nurses were great! They answered questions and explained the medication. I loved Dr. Ku--he's so kind, compassionate, and patient, as well as very encouraging and supportive. I really wanted to use him as my doctor, but unfortunately I found out right before an egg retrieval that the office was going out of network for my insurance January 1, and I cancelled the cycle. I should have been told that MUCH sooner than late November, but the attitude there really is "you should just pay out of pocket." I can't even tally up in my head how many times the nurses and billing told me that, and they kept pressing that it ultimately would be cheaper (the egg retrieval was about 15K, the transfer about 4K, plus all the sonos and bloodwork and drugs etc.--at an in-network doctor I'm looking at about 3K to 5K TOTAL). I also found the staff to be disorganized to the point of dysfunctional. It's the nurses' and the billing department's job to figure out what's covered, get the necessary pre-authorizations, and communicate with you about any pre-reqs such as blood tests. At one point, I wasn't told about a necessary blood test until the last minute, and almost missed the window. Also, I just got a $700 bill for a genetic screening--but the reason it wasnt covered was because the doctor's office never gave them my insurance information and said I was a cash patient! Finally, when I went into my financial counseling, nothing had been prepared for me because she said I had been slotted in "last minute"--even though the appointment had been standing for a week and even moved a day later. During the counseling I was told (yet again) that paying out of pocket would save me money, and then told that because of a certain note on my file, Aetna would reject the entire claim and I would later receive a bill that was even higher than just paying out of pocket (which, when I called Aetna to confirm, was not true). Honestly, I felt like they were trying to scare me into paying out of pocket--of course, because that's much easier for them than dealing with insurance! The front office staff is disinterested at best, rude at worst--at my new doctor, they know and greet me by name, but the women at Dallas IVF couldn't care less. When my husband was about five minutes late for the appointment, they were war-dialing me asking where he was--he was in the wrong clinic next door, which is an easy mistake to make since they're both Dallas IVF offices. When I answered the phone, she snapped at me that I should have given them his number--which they already had in my file since he's my emergency contact. They then proceeded to scold him when he got there, for me not giving them his number. I won't repeat the choice words he shared with me about them, but they were accurate. In sum, I feel like Dr. Ku is a great doctor--but there's a disconnect between his warm manner and the staff/feel of the clinic itself. I get that you become a doctor to make money, but there's a line between making a profit and profiting off of the desperation of women who need ART. I spent a lot of time crying and being stressed over the whole process because I wasn't receiving the proper level of diligence from the staff--and it wasn't until I changed doctors that I saw how much of a difference organization and attitude make for a patient. read more

Dr. Barnett is incredible. I'm not sure if I've ever come across a doctor who cares about his patient so much. He took the time to explain every procedure and never seemed rushed, he answered every question that we had. We felt extremely welcomed and comfortable during our entire fertility journey. I was recommended to Dr. Ku after we had a job transfer from Houston and needed a local RE to do our transfer. Our only experience has been since establishing care to do this transfer (and transfer the embryos from Houston to Dallas). Dr Ku is super nice and compassionate. I interacted with the embryologist team who were wonderful in getting my embryos to their lab, and when I was emotional and cried on the phone the front desk lady went above and beyond to help me get an appointment. However, once I became a patient end of September 2018 (and have not cried)... the front desk and billing - ZERO STARS. I am an administrator in healthcare and their attitudes are horrendous. They lie (lost my medical records TWICE, denied all responsibility), they are eager to tell you to pay out of pocket without even attempting to bill insurance first unless you literally threaten and order them to do it, they do not give itemized bills so there is NO record for what you are paying for. And the nurse Mary... she's not very smart. She called me the Friday before my Tuesday transfer to tell me My husband and I did not have an STD screening panel in my medical records so I needed to go get labs done over the weekend (this was in relation to embryos, whether they needed to be in quarantine). But We had the screening done and it was in our records. She said they weren't. This went on for a minute, until she threatened to cancel my transfer. wtf? I told her she had no authority to do that, and to just put the embryos in quarantine if they weren't sure if they were contagious, and I would get a copy of records to them - AGAIN. Long story short - they had the records. But when they found them, they didn't call back to tell us not to do the extra labs. If I was an uneducated patient who didn't know the way healthcare works, I would have gotten those labs and been out of pocket more money. She apologized to my husband, he told her she needed to apologize to me. I'm still waiting. She also has trouble counting to 21 (number of days of estrogen before transfer). Repeatedly. I thought she was drunk, but maybe she has some sort of disorder or takes meds. But I have no confidence in her competence especially since she seems impaired every time I spoke to her. Then, day of transfer, Dr Ku is stuck in Colorado and another doc has to do my transfer. Musowski I think. Very cold. Skill wise I guess she did fine. The front desk was again, very eager to take my money instead of being more compassionate on such a stressful day (they had to move my appointment up to accommodate mucowskis schedule, and i was incredibly stressed trying to get there on time). They just wanted my money. And the nurse in the back gave me the Valium (needed to wait 45 mins for it to kick in prior to transfer), but wheeled me back and my transfer was done within 15 mins. No time for my bladder to fill (supposed to allow same 45 mins) or for the Valium to relax my uterus. My procedure was compromised so that mucowski could fit in more patients. On one side I am grateful my transfer wasn't just cancelled, but on the other hand, who wants a botched procedure ??? (Thankfully we did get pregnant). And the phlebotomists... zero skill. Even when their "best" nurse attempts. Zero skill. They can't even tell when the flash shows - I had to tell them! She didn't want to pierce the vacutainer to verify the stick - what a money pincher... but she did and Lo and behold the blood flowed. Btw, I was a phlebotomist for 4 years early in my career, and my husband was a medic. Both of us were in shock at their complete lack of skill in blood draws - this has been for each and every blood draw we have had there (so far 3). The lady who does the sonogram is great. No complaints there, though I prefer that my RE does the sono. If that's what you prefer too, just know they don't do it that way here. We are currently pregnant, but the entire experience has been so subpar, only about the money, poor attitudes, lack of skill. If it was my clinic and business I would be completely embarrassed. Advise: the docs may be good, but watch the way the clinic bills and do not accept what they offer you at first. Stand up for yourself, don't let them take advantage of you! I hear the lab and their McKinney facility are out of network which they don't explain and other patients have had issues with unexpected bills. If this applies to you, get your labs outside and have the report sent to them. And only go to the clinic that is in-network (provider needs to be in-network too). IVF is hard enough, you don't need a lousy clinic to go with it. I had high hopes from the referral, and if you get pregnant I guess you can look aside from the poor personnel. But IVF is a long journey and you need supportive environment with each person and clinic for the long run. read more

This is sorta one of those TMI posts, so let me apologize in advance! (But I had to share so that other women can find ACCURATE information!) I went to Dallas IVF today, not for fertility treatments per say, but to have a HSG done at my regular doctor's suggestion. After talking to friends who had undergone this procedure elsewhere, I was petrified about how painful it was going to be. This prompted me to do MORE research which lead to even more horrific stories all over the internet. Yikes! Needless to say, I had severe anxiety before arriving to Dallas IVF today. Dr. Barnett assured me it was NOT going to be that bad, but I figured he had to say that so I was still super panicked! Much to my surprise, the whole procedure was lightening fast and -no lie- I didn't feel anything. No pain whatsoever! I think it was over in 2-4 minutes even? The nurse (Lisa, I think?) was very sweet and empathetic, so she helped in making sure I was comfortable the whole time. I am still in disbelief that it's over and done with and was so dang easy. For any ladies who have to have this procedure done, don't be nervous! It's really no big deal! (Don't go elsewhere though, from anyone else I've talked to, the process can be bad - the doctors here are the best!) read more

Went to see Dr. Barnett. Quite money hungry and comes after you for charges from 2 years prior after no communication or calls from them. Their rates are higher than other doctors. Listen, IVF works for some people and doesn't for others. If it was successful the first time, of course you had a great experience. If it wasn't successful, you will first see how the doctor didn't have the courtesy to call you himself to break the news, and you will also see how this office wants to immediately schedule you for the next expensive round of IVF. Dr. Barnett is a good doctor, but he's also making a lot of money right now and doesn't spend enough time to diagnose each patient properly. Not everyone is textbook. read more

If using unify make sure to use your obg once you get a positive pregnancy. Apparently unify doesn't cover anything fater postitive pregnancy and their staff love to hide that information from you until your balance adds up then they send you a huge bill. All the blood work and sono they made me do without telling me they were not covered bu unify i could have done through my obgyn and my insurance could have covered, so even though i made myself clear that whatever is mot covered at dallas ivf i will do at my obg, they didn't bother telling me. So be aware of that. I appreciate everything else they have done for me but this kinda dishonesty makes me mad. read more

I have been a patient at both the Frisco and TYLER office. I have never waited more than 15 minutes to go back even when they scheduled me super last minute for scans. The front staff and nursing staff at both offices have been extremely professional and compassionate while I have been a patient of theirs. If you call or email the nurse assigned to you, I get a reply back SUPER FAST. Same day, usually in a few hours. Dr. Barnett has been extremely professional and helpful throughout our journey. Due to driving distance, he even let me do some scans and bloodwork through my obgyn office. His offices loses money but he still let me do it. He was compassionate when we had our miscarriage and adjusted our treatment plans after listening to our concerns for the future. If you are doing medicated cycles with injections multiple scans are required to make sure the timing is PERFECT. This was explained to me at my very first appointment so this is NORMAL. Their billing office did make a mistake but quickly fixed it and apologized. I recommend him and his office to everybody. read more
