Great store! So much fun stuff and such a great staff! I purchased a beautiful vintage hat for the Kentucky derby! I spent so much time looking for hats and found this gem at the last minute, so I had to rework all my outfits to accommodate this great piece! What a neat little boutique store!! If you are a fan of 1940s/1950s pin up photography or Bettie Page you have come to the right spot!! Pin Up is both a boutique store that sells accessories like pin up clothing, jewelry (including risque items like boob tassels) to pin-up style clothing. The day I went I picked up reproduction postcards of old pulp fiction 1940's book covers that I like to use for decoration on my fridge or as bookmarks. The coolest part about Dallas Pin Up is that they can dress you up, do your hair and take Pin Up photos! Yup, Dallas Pin Up is a full photography studio with very reasonable prices. Dallas Pin Up- a place where your grandma's panties are cool again!! I have been looking for a place like this for a long time. I hate ordering retro clothes from online...I have to try them on. I was scheduled to do a pin-up style shoot here...and was surprised that there was retro clothing and accessories. I was in retro heaven!! I will talk about my shoot first.... absolutely an awesome experience. LaDonna is a super talented make up artist. I looked flawless with my perfect cat eyed liner and ruby red pout. My hair was curled with one roll in the front....and 2 pin curls on the side...hen a cascade of curls in the back. Shoshana made me feel good about what I wasnt too crazy about in my shoot...like my scar on my nose...and a little around the middle. We had fun....and they even introduced to me to some New Orleans Bounce...cracked me up the whole time listening to it. The store was super cute...it featured local vendors and had everything from stockings...to bullet bras....retro dresses...and even bed sheets. I wanted to buy the whole store...but I will be back for another shoot and to add to my collection. read more

Awesome awesome awesome. I bought a few items in the shop and had a pin up photo session with Shoshana in her studio. Everything was AMAZING. Some of the items in the shop are handmade and are therefore one of a kind! Some of the clothing items are available on large websites, but if you order from a website, you don't get to try the items on and support a local business! I'll absolutely be back (to both the shop and Shoshana's studio). Check their Facebook page for new arrivals, but things go quick!! If you see something you want, get down there NOW and get it! Also, check their hours of operation. Especially with the photo studio in the back, the hours of operation are a little odd (but actually pretty convenient for me, so I'm certainly not complaining). DUDES- This place is the shit. Why? Awesome decor (love the black and white tile!), the cutest frocks and housewares AND they even have retro glam makeup. Heeellllooo Dolly ;) It's so refreshing to have one place to go to visit to get tons of different vintage reproduction kinds o' stuff along with "edgy" lil rocka/psychobilly dresses. Of course there are books, dude duds and hair grease that smells a little like heaven. I had the privilege of meeting the owner who is probably the sweetest, sassiest and most adorable person ever. When I had an issue with the belt on my dress, they directed me to the correct vendor (I'm under the impression that this store is a collection of vendors who sell independently). I can't say enough good things about this place. Through The Looking Glass The photo boutique is amazing. I got my professional head shots done here, and people remark all the time about how amazing they are. I had a blast! The whole experience was wonderful, from make-up and hair to picking out which outfit and the actual photo session. LOVED it. The clothes!! My only beef is sizing. They always run out of my size! I LOVE that there's a local place that sells the kinds of clothes I want to buy. You pay for what you get--so these aren't cheap garments, but they are worth it. The people! Love the staff. Heard about the boutique through a friend and decided to check it out-ADORABLE!! The shop is super hip and girly and filled with cute cute cute clothes accessories and various odds and ins. You can't find these kind of dresses any where else in Dallas. Also, the girl working the counter was excited and knowledgable about everything in the store. My husband was totally shocked (in a great way) when I got home. My son told me that I didn't look pretty, I looked beautiful. Visited this cute little shop today for the first time and couldn't have been happier. The clothes are awesome and seem to be well made; I bought two dresses so I guess I will see over time. The one employee was really friendly & helpful, as well as super knowledgeable about the product. I wanted so much more, but I found it to be a bit on the pricey side. Of course, like I said, they're nice dresses and expect to pay more for something I might wear to a nice dinner/party/etc. I bought two dresses for about $210. Would highly recommend! read more

I didn't know what to expect when I went in for a pinup photo shoot, so I figured I'd let all the ladies considering this know what's up! The studio is in the back of their cute little shop that has all sorts of retro clothes and lingerie. It's in Deep Ellum and there's street parking right outside. LaDonna is the gal who does your makeup, and she is fantastic and super sweet! If you have long hair, the two basic choices are old hollywood curls and victory curls. If you have something in mind I'm sure she can do that too, but I was clueless and went for the victory curls which turned out great. She is a freakin' wizard with makeup and false lashes... I was so excited when she was finished. It was amazing! I looked like the perfect pinup version of myself. Next it's time to get dressed. You have a private dressing area with a vanity and lights. If you have garter straps, they'll help you get those just right. Shoshana is your photographer and she really makes the whole process fun. I was incredibly nervous and I walked away wanting to come again ASAP. She asks what areas you want to highlight and what you want to minimize. She demonstrates all the poses and doesn't get frustrated when you're lost after step 1. She's really encouraging and funny, but she's also frank and will let you know if a pose isn't working quite right. We did two different backdrops with lots of different props and poses, so there's a lot of variety. I haven't received the photos yet, but I'm sure they'll be awesome. If you're considering this, do it! My mom was concerned that there would be some sleazy guy watching from the corner or something, but it's nothing like that. You will walk away feeling so good about yourself and it's FUN! DO IT. EDIT: THE PHOTOS WERE AWESOME! read more

My girlfriend and I found this place while leaving the deep ellum arts fest. Its a gem of a find. Although much more geared for women it does hold some really cool men's items. I came back a week later for some holiday shopping this last Saturday afternoon and was helped extensively. The associate really went out of her way to make sure I was pleased. All questions were answered and was very thoughtful when it came to my purchase by helping prep it. I finally got around to visiting Dallas Pinup last week... my only negative thing to say is that I should have gone sooner!! They have the cutest retro/rockabilly clothes and accessories. I could have gone crazy, had my wallet not reminded me otherwise. All of the sections are run by women, and I found everything to be very reasonably priced. The selection is not huge, as the store itself isn't that large, but that's what I find makes it unique. The girl working behind the counter (I forgot her name - apologies!) was so incredibly nice. She made me feel comfortable and right at home. I will be returning, and have already recommended the store to multiple friends. I would love to book a pinup shoot at "Through the Looking Glass," the in house photography studio. They do hair and makeup and all the pictures I saw while there are just adorable. They have a lovely selection of cosmetics (Besame is the main brand, I believe). Perhaps the most interesting part for some will be the lingerie collection.
