I had one of the best in-store experiences at Y&I Uptown thanks to Angela. I was headed to a dinner underdressed and had about 15 minutes to fix my situation. I called ahead to warn her I'd be running in with my hair on fire, and she was completely ready for me. Within seconds of arriving, she had three dresses pulled - catering to my existing style and build. I was able to try one on, check out, and make my dinner on time looking and feeling great. The Y&I selection is always strong, but Angela went above and beyond. Turns out she's also a personal stylist, and it absolutely shows. But seriously when I first walked into to this boutique I was like oh great another Dallas boutique that prides itself on being exclusive and only fitting small women but after meeting one of the owners and looking through all their clothes I began to realize I found my new best kept secret. While this boutique tends to carry clothes for the "model" size woman I did find a handful of items that fits a curvy woman like myself. Not only was the owner down to earth and easy to talk to but the associate Emily made me feel so comfortable. I was concerned that then sweater I was eyeing was going to make me look huge, she showed me several ways to wear it and made me feel right at home. I bought the sweater and got more compliments on it when I wore it the next day then anything else in my closet. I felt like a million bucks, I will say that there are some clothing items in the store that are really expensive, probably even over priced but items start around $29 dollars and go up from there. My sweater that I absolutely love was $69 and worth every penny. Also this store carries a variety of items unique to Dallas. They have coasters that have iconic Dallas monuments. Y&I used to be my go-to boutique in Dallas. I was a frequent shopper, always recommended it to my friends, and would bring out of town guests there to shop. I'm not sure if there was recently a management change or what, but it seems that the past few times I have gone the customer service has been subpar. I have gone in and not seen an associate for 10-15 minutes while I was shopping. When I do interact with them, the majority are rude and condescending, hardly speak, and are apathetic to guests in the store. I went in last week to purchase a gift and was going to look around for myself as well but after another horrendous customer service experience, I am done shopping at Y&I. I will no longer support a store that doesn't value its customers nor will I continue to send others there. read more

My whole AMAZING experience began with a phone call to see if they had Holiday dresses. When I came in and asked for help with finding a holiday dress they knew my name! They helped me put together an cute outfit. I picked out a dress from the selection they suggested, and then got the shoes they recommended. I wish I could give them more than 5 stars because they went above and beyond, even helping me find a cardigan at another store to match my outfit. Couldn't ask for a better shopping experience. Went in for a bday browse today and everything just seemed blah- primarily customer service b/c it didn't exist. No greeting upon entry. There was an associate that waited for me to move from a rack before putting clothes back, she was going around the store. Didn't really talk to anyone. I think a mumu rep was on site as they had some wedding guest/bridal stuff in back corner. Overall, still some cute casual clothes, but today was just off-putting. Didn't have anything dressy enough for my occasion, but also no providing of service. Not excited to return anytime soon. read more

I always love the atmosphere of Y&I. It's funky, fresh and always has really cool local finds. Definitely on the pricier end (in comparison to your big box store at the mall) but it's average for a boutique store with their quality of clothes. I love finding shirts with sassy sayings and dresses that I know will be my "it" dress for the season without being everyone and their mother's it dress. The Blonde haired associate was extremely tasteful in style selection! She was VERY helpful with finding items fitting my needs. I used to love shopping at Y&i, but am now so furious with their customer service that I will never be back and will no longer recommend this store to any of my friends, as I had been doing so diligently in the past. I was last minute looking for a dress to wear to a wedding in Colorado and found a dress I liked, but didn't love, at Y&i. After talking to the sales associate about their return policy (14 days - incredibly obnoxious as is), I figured I'd go ahead and purchase it in case I didn't find anything else. However, I was able to borrow another dress from a friend, and never wore the one I purchased. Given that I now live in FW, I asked my friend to return the dress on my behalf. The sales associates were incredibly rude and snarky towards her, and REFUSED to let her return the dress - saying that it "looked like it had been worn because it was wrinkled". HOW can a dress that's NEVER been worn, look like it's been worn?! I only wore it to try it on in the store, and it's wrinkled because they folded it up and put it in a shopping bag! They also mentioned it had dog hair on it aka one, MAYBE two, stray dog hairs that could have easily been picked off or rolled over with a lint roller. The associate said I could exchange the dress, but not return it, because she "won't give me my money back to have damaged goods in her store." Since when are some wrinkles in a dress considered "damaged goods"? SO SORRY that I didn't iron the dress prior to wanting to return it. I didn't hold it against them when I purchased the dress wrinkled in the first place (I considered asking them to steam it for me, but then figured if I wore it I'd have to pack it in a suitcase anyway). Not to mention that the whole transaction of purchasing the dress took almost 20 minutes. The associate messed up the computer and had to call her manager. I lingered in the store for almost 20 minutes for her to figure it out, and was so nice and patient throughout the whole situation. God forbid I ask to receive the same decency from them. In reading other reviews, it seems as though this isn't the first time this has happened. The associates appear to be nice to complete the sale, but then will not only not stand by their store policies, but are incredibly rude throughout the process. In the "About Us" section of their site they tout themselves as being a "bright and friendly store." WHAT A JOKE. I feel incredibly embarrassed that my friend had to deal with this situation on my behalf. I am so disappointed in Y&i and will not return or recommend. read more

y&i is a great new addition to the West Village. Their style is California girl meets Austin girl with a hint of Dallas luxury. They carry a lot of my favorite Los Angeles brands like Joe's Jeans, Yumi Kim and Everly. The sales person was extremely sweet and helped me find a dress, shoes, AND jewelry to wear on my birthday... Their selection is average and when I purchased a pair of shorts that the sales person said I could return if I decided I didn't like them (which I did) they wouldn't take them back. Y&I is a cute little boutique that's located in West Village with an even cuter story behind the name. I've had the privilege of visiting twice, once for a Yelp event and another time on my own. Both times the staff were friendly and accommodating. The store itself is small and carries unique clothing, jewelry, and other novelty items. Even if their clothes aren't your thing, they have lots of trinkets that make for good gifts and they are fairly reasonably priced. read more

LOVE, love, love this place! The two brunette salesgirls helped me find some of the greatest items--they were very friendly and attentive. It's extremely hot in Dallas, and the amount of casual summer dresses are awesome! I really love all the graphic tees, as well. The pricing is really inexpensive and the quality is great. Also, they sell so much Dallas, Texas themed home good!!! So great for gifts!! I'm not sure why girls have had a 1 star experience because my experience was definitely 5 star!! From the get-go, the clothing boutique appears inviting and approachable with their signature blue and green stripes that line the windows and walls. The fun and colorful window display definitely caught my attention, but it was the welcoming and friendly staff that really made an impression. Because of the wide price range, I found a complete outfit for under $300- clothes, shoes, accessories and all! OMG! I saw they carried brands like Rory Beca and Paige Denim but also less expensive stuff too. Some other brands they have are C&C California, Steve Madden, and Billabong. The selection of accessories was AMAZING! Their shoes, handbags, jewelry, bathing suits, sunglasses, and hats (to name a few) make for perfect birthday gifts! I especially like the jewelry collection and shoe section. I bought a pair of tan Chinese Laundry wedges and wear them all of the time- super comfortable! This is one of my favorite stores to shop! I love that the store is always clean, organized and features unique, reasonably priced clothing that you can not find anywhere else. Moreover, the store manager Monica has always been an amazing help every time I visit the boutique. Monica greets every customer with a smile, asks if there is anything in particular I am looking for, assists me in placing items I pick out in the dressing room and routinely checks to make sure I do not need different sizes in any of the items I am trying on. Monica is a true spokeswoman for the y&i clothing boutique. It is apparent she loves helping others, interacting with customers and takes pride in her work. Have always had a good experience at y&i until today. The saleswoman was an older brunette woman with long hair. She wore a chunky ring that said LOVE. There was no greeting. I greeted her. The 2 things she said were "this is non-refundable if you want to try it on". Which I already had (I purchased a bralette that I then found $2 less at Flirt Boutique across the street) had she bothered to look up from what she was doing she'd known a customer was in the dressing room or in the store for that matter. She also said thanks after I made my purchase. There were two other girls that were also in the store at the same time I was. Upon leaving they were the ones to say "bye, thank you, her response..... She didn't even bother to look up. Maybe she needs training in customer service or she hates her job. Either way she does not make customers experience memorable in a good way.
