Extremely unprofessional by Dr. Tran when I last saw him last week. He commented on my personal life and said that I got taken advantage of. He also would not listen to my complaints and prescribed me antidepressants instead for my attention difficulties. The office staff also takes forever to get back to. read more

I've had difficult psychiatric issues for about 25 years, and have been amazed at the unreasonable expectations of fellow patients and the somewhat indifferent reactions of practitioners. Dr. Tran has proven a singular exception. He has proven conscientious, patient, and highly cognizant of available therapies. Suzan W. a patient of Dr. Tran's contacted me through the compliment section of the reviews to tell me to "chill out". How nice of her to reach out and be so supportive. She must be right! Suzan has seen 25+ "shrinks" in the area, and has advised me to "chill out"!!! Wow, who needs medication, or therapy when I can follow Suzan's advice! Just "chill out" people! This really is going to turn the psychiatric profession on its ear! Thank you Suzan for helping me put in such a positive, insightful way. Having had ongoing problems with anxiety and depression since I was 16 (am now 72), I have had multiple psychiatrists/psychologists in California, Indiana, and now Texas. I can't begin to express my satisfaction with Dr. Tran and his staff. Out of approx. 25 "shrinks" I've seen over the years, he is, by far, my favorite. He does more than just shove pills down your throat, he actually talks to you and discusses your current life's ups and downs....something medical mgmt. psychiatrists don't do anymore. This place is all right. I've been going here for a few years and the appointments are quick and easy, and they do have extended hours for those like me who work a 8-5 job during the week. However, this is not the place to go for counseling or mental help in my opinion. This is where I come to refill my meds, and I go elsewhere for therapist help and to actually talk through issues. ALSO, they will cancel your appointment if you're 10-15 minutes late and charge you for not showing up, but they will also make you sit in the lobby for half an hour after your appointment time. Kevin has been awesome. I felt very nervous, as it took many tries throughout my previous experience to determine the proper meds for me. He really listened and addressed each concern in such a knowledgeable way. Life changing. Service is great at the office, but the call center is a little off. Either way, worth the visit. read more

The only kind of solution this physician's office even bothers to refer to you, is medication related. I asked the psychiatrist how to handle stress resulting from relationship issues, and without even bothering to refer me to a therapist, she responds with, "oh, there's no medication for that"...and that's it. This physician didn't bother to utilize her critical thinking abilities, isn't that what patients are paying for? I am no doctor, but why not suggest something like consulting a counselor or a talk-therapist? The office staff is also not very professional in dealing with patients who arrive late, even if they care to call in to inform the office of the late arrival, and the cause for it. read more

I cannot brag on Dr. Cynthia enough. She always brings a smile to my face and talks to me like a human being! It's not just an in & out visit for medication, she really wants to know how I'm doing. I love that! I really lucked out finding her. read more

Absolutely horrible staff. Stay away from this outdated, dirty, disorganized office. The doctor is aloof and dismissive. The staff is unprofessional and has extremely poor communication skills. I felt like I was in a third world country. Absolutely NO help was received for my child ADHD. The doctor did not even visit with my child on his first viski. Instead we were seen by the nurse practitioner! So even though we were referred by and MD, with a letter from our MD to the psychiatrist explaining blood work, medical history, etc. we were still not allowed to see the psychiatrist. However we waited in his office for 90 minutes and paid an $80 copay. read more

Dirty, unorganized, and kind of sad to even go into. They're also not responsive - they wouldn't refill my prescription, but they didn't let me know that until I was pretty much out. Couldn't get a hold of them and had to have my pharmacy give me a few days' worth of loaner pills before I could be seen by my primary care doctor and have him give me more meds. Haven't had a great experience here. The service has been decent, but it really does just seem they're out to get your money. I needed a letter from my doctor in support of a claim that I was making at the VA Hospital. I figured she would just write up a paragraph real quickly and let me come grab it. Or, at the least, just copy and give me the relevant pages from my records. Instead, I was told that there would be a $25 fee for copies of my records or a letter. I needed it, so I agreed to pay. They said I could come by and pick it up at 4 PM. I arrived at 4 PM and one of the receptionists asked me what medications/dosages I was currently on....how does the person that prescribed me medication not know what I'm on? Anyway, I told her, and then had to sit and wait for 20 minutes while she wrote up the letter. She hadn't started because she wanted to be sure to get correct the medications I was on. How is that not in your records somewhere?? Needless to say, I was a little annoyed that I had to wait for a one paragraph letter that I was paying $25 for. I have cancelled my upcoming appointment and will not be returning to this office. read more

Worst psych office ever. Long waits, nurses who don't care, and a doctor who doesn't refill prescriptions in a timely manner.

I cannot say how thankful I am to have found this place and to have a professional for once truly listen to me and truly care for me like Antoinette Byrd (APN) does for me! I'm surprised at how bad the reviews are. The staff is friendly and I've only had to wait over 15 minutes just a couple of times in the past year ( out of about 20 visits). As a matter of fact they've gone out of their way to help me a time or two. The nurse practitioners are very knowledgable, no complaints there either. Although there has been some confusion involving billing they were always willing to resolve any issues I had. On three different occasions when I needed to speak to Dr. Tran after hours (even at late hours), he always called me back and was very friendly and supportive. read more

Worst experience. They forgot 4 of my appointments, raised the price of standard appointments without telling me, never filled my prescriptions and the wait staff was very rude. Awful awful service, I can't say how many times I've been told that my doctor forgot my appointment and every time they say they're going to call in a prescription, they don't. Years ago when I was going through some very serious psychological issues, every other psychiatrist I saw told me I was just "going through a bad break up." I knew that wasn't the case. When I found this office, I was about ready to give up completely. This office is the first place that listened and tried to actually help me. I will be forever grateful for them. In the past four years I have been seeing them, I have seen four different doctors/nurse practitioners. They do seem to cycle through them at a rather rapid rate, but everyone I have seen has been wonderful. They very thoroughly check your meds to make sure there are no interactions. The office staff at the reception area is mostly young college kids (so they seem), so I pardon their sometimes cold manner. They're not really who I'm there to see anyways. This office has done amazing things for me. I highly recommend this facility. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Tran for over 12 years and he is the only psychiatrist that has ever really helped me. He is a fantastic doctor. I developed adult onset ADD in my late 30's. I could not understand what was happening to me. I am an RN but did not understand that this could actually have it's onset in my 30's. My work performance was suffering and I actually lost a job over my declining performance . I went from doctor to doctor before finding Dr. Tran at Dallas Psychiatric Associates. He explained what was wrong with me and really worked with me in finding the meds that would help make my symptoms manageable and allow me to hold down a stressful RN position. I couldn't have done it without his help. The staff there is wonderful.- everyone of them. I read a review complainer about seeing the nurse practitioner instead of the doctor for an appointment. The NP at DPA is awesome. She has helped me so much during my appointments with her. The fact is many psychiatric offices now use nurse practitioners. Their assessment skills and therapy methods are right up there with doctors and in fact, NP's are able to often see things better due to the amount of time they can spend with a patient. The MD usually reviews the meds and makes adjustments with the medications and their doses. The NP will do the history and information gathering and discuss it with the doctor who will determine the proper medication. Dallas Psychiatric Associates is great, don't even go by the reviews here. Some people just find fault in anything and are negative. Psych issues are not an area that have an instant fix or a certain pill you take an all your problems disappear. The process is slow and frustrating. I actually moved away 5 years ago from Dallas and I drive 4 hours to see Dr. Tran and his staff. I wouldn't dream of changing at this point. They have helped me too much. It's worth the drive!! I went to Dallas Psychiatric because they were reasonably priced and I DESPERATELY needed help! I'm a 24 y/o single mom, with a full time job, which made it very difficult for me to take time out of my schedule to drive the hour 1/2 up there to see them. When I got there the session was VERY short (less that 30 min.) and she sent me home with 4 scripts. Later, I get a call from the front desk saying that he was wrong and instead of $80 they Needed $200 and he insisted I give him a CC# over the phone. Well the first week I was on the meds I got so bad I had to shut my entire store down and go home because I was so depressed. I called their office several times only to get a machine, I left a message and never heard from them. I had to call my GP to get help and she told me st stop taking the meds immediately. I skipped my second appt since I was so disappointed in their services, but things were still bad so when they called to re-schedule I figured I'd give them a second chance. The second time was no better, they double charged me since I'd missed the last appt (which they didn't tell me was their policy until I drove all the way up there). I was so upset I started crying in the waiting room. Another short session later and I'd still gotten nowhere. Got home, tried the different meds and ended up ready to shoot myself again, called their office, this time got a returned call telling me to "give the medicine time to work before giving up". I'm no doctor, but I've seen enough to know that when a medicine makes you so depressed you're considering suicide---it's time to stop. The whole reason I needed to see someone is because of the financial stress of working full time, being a single mom (of a 2y/o), paying for daycare, rent, food, and never having time to rest. Point being, $360 later and they only succeeded in making things worse for me. I wish I had my money back so I could afford to go to someone who would have really cared enough to help me. And the guy at the front desk is very...unfeeling and unsympathetic. When I called to cancel my next appt and told him I was no longer coming back because they haven't helped (and I've begged them to PLEASE just help me) he was very detached and still pretty chipper sounding, no apologies. Save yourself some money and go to your GP (even though it isn't their specialty) they will be better help. read more

This place has the most unprofessional staff that I've ever encountered in life. They don't deliver messages, they don't know how to verify insurance. It's like pulling teeth to get an appointment reminder. The phone rings countless numbers of times before anyone answers and when they answer, you're placed on hold for at minimum 5-10 minutes. I am puzzled as to how this business continues to function IF it's functioning. It's an inconvenience to start over with someone new, so most make the lazy decision to stay especially if you have a rapport with the dr. From what I've witnessed the doctors are great as is the receptionist in the back....I never write reviews but this team needs a complete professional OVERHAUL! read more

HORRIBLE!!!!!! STAY AWAY!! I was referred to this horrible place by a coworker. I was able to book an appointment fairly quickly. I went in for my appointment and was charged $50 for my copay. My copay is $20. When I asked the incompetent girl at the front she stated it was due to the fact that she was unable to verify coverage. I called my insurance company and was told it is $20. I then called my coworker and she stated they had been charging her $30. I informed the incompetent girl and she told me once my insurance company paid they would refund the difference. I went in 1/14/15 and they got paid electronic transfer 1/26/15 to this day I still have yet to receive a refund. I've gone up there twice so speak to the office manager and he is always out at lunch or in a meeting. This place should be shut down. They have horrible customer service. The staff is lazy and they will rip you off. read more
