AJ has worked for me for several years now. Communication with him has been very good and he always lets me know where we're at. He's done three major projects for me and the craftsmanship has always been excellent. His prices are always very fair and if parts of the job don't look quite right to me he always makes sure I'm happy with the finished product before he's done. We contracted with AJ Dalon/Dalon Construction for a metal roof on a new home on 3/18/2019. At the time of the contract signing, AJ was given a down payment. On 4/10/2019 AJ was given a second check (the material had been purchased & install was supposed to begin). The job was to begin April 15, 2019 and finish May 20, 2019. It is now July 23, 2019 and the roof is still incomplete YET AJ was able to complete at least 6 other roofs on existing homes all while failing to show up at promised times to complete our client's roof. Armand Dalon of Dalon Construction was contacted by friends of ours in Eastport, ME to perform repairs to their business' roof. At the time, we were looking for a roofing contractor to do a metal roof on our house and garage just down the street. We contacted him and he assured us he could do the work - not only the roofing needed, by also 3 skywindows (apparently called that because they open) located on the 2nd story of the garage and some shake siding that he said was done incorrectly where it met the roofing material. (The siding is on a small lookout cupola or tower, essentially the third story of the garage). At first, when taking the measurements and looking at the issues, he was very professional and seemed eager to do the work. That was essentially the last we saw of that side of him. We signed a contract and submitted a payment of half the estimate, a total of $8150.00 on July 6, 2019, with the assurance that he would begin the jobs at the end of August at the latest, due to "having so much work". It was the end of September, after MANY times contacting him and receiving this excuse or that as to why he hasn't begun the jobs, that he showed up with the skywindows and some materials and one helper to assist. It was on a Saturday; he installed one window and we did not see him for another two weeks afterward, when he and his assistant, now his girlfriend, showed up (again, on a Saturday) to install the other two and began to address the issue with the shake siding (tearing off the old siding and installing a rubberized barrier at the cupola/roof joint). That was the last time we saw him in person, and have repeatedly attempted to contact him directly or to come to some resolution. One such attempt did have him respond that he would drop off a check, refunding us the house roof deposit and at least finish the work on the garage, but that was prior to Thanksgiving - weeks ago. Attempts since then to make arrangements for him to do so have gone unanswered. Further, the work he has done leaked even worse than the old material that was in the garage, to which I have photographic and video proof, having been there when it was happening. Lastly, the friends who initially introduced us to Mr. Dalon are having similar issues, and complained to us that his last visit to them, on December 1, resulted in no fix of their leaking roof either. Really Deserves Negative Stars I will acknowledge that the owner has the capability of installing a metal roof, but that is all that I can say in a positive manner. We contracted with Dalon Construction to have a metal roof installed in late 2017. He began by removing all of our asphalt shingles and then abandoning the project. He did eventually return to install some of the metal (that I had to pay for with my own credit card and have delivered to our house) but as of late May 2018, our roof is still not completed, although Dalon Construction has been paid in full. We have endured leaks in our kitchen, storage area, bedroom, and bathroom, with major repairs needed for our bathroom. In our storage area irreplaceable antiques were ruined. We are now in the process of hiring another roofer to complete the project, costing us additional money and in the meantime, continuing to add to the stains on our ceilings.
