Cape Ann Foot and Ankle - Dr. Kelley hard at work!

My 88-year-old mother went to Dr. Kelly to have a callous removed from her foot. Before removing it…read morethey gave her compression socks to put on as they said her balance was off. She stated she did not want these socks as this is not what she came in for. They insisted that she take the socks home and was charged for them. They also insisted that they x-rayed her ankles and again my mother said she did not want an x-ray but they insisted that she have one.She tried to return the socks and was told they could not except them back. The fee for her office visit was $700. A year later she received another bill for $700 even though she had not returned to Dr. Kelly's office. It seems Dr. Kelly takes great advantage of his patients. I do not recommend using him.

Hello Marie, Please…read moretake note my review was from 2014. I was a patient of Dr. Kelley's prior to then. It does not surprise me that there is no record of me in the system as at the time the staff could barely track my co-pays. Additionally, if you identified that I was a patient at any time you would be in breach of HIPAA. Again, wouldn't be surprised given the way the practice was 5+ years ago. I currently recommend Podiatry to my patients who are unable to cut their own nails or due to medical reasons should have a professional do it (DM, anticoags) and I have never seen a podiatrist go 4 months between appts. Dr. Kelley went that long at times to schedule appts with my grandparents. If called to check in on an appt- the staff would inform us about waiting for a filled list to justify home visit. Lastly- physical therapists do their job when we never see a patient again for the same problem- the goal is to treat and educate NOT to keep a patient coming back for more and especially not for necessary appts so we can bill insurance and charge another copay. Seems to me like it would benefit Dr. Kelley to charge someone for more appts than refer to PT to actually address the problem. Ultimately as a clinician I advocate for myself as well as my clients and based on my treatment alone I would not recommend anyone to this practice. I can only hope it's improved- for the conscience of the practice but truly to better serve those who don't have any other options.

I visited Dr Lukoff with a complaint of pain in the ball of my foot. My visit was disorganized,…read morewith him coming in and out of the room, looking at my foot for under 5 seconds, giving half-answers to my questions, and reaching a diagnosis of plantar fasciitis almost instantaneously. He took xrays but didn't review them. He told me I needed $1700 in custom orthotics and 1/4 inch lifts in my shoes, and hovered over me waiting for my credit card. (I paid for the orthotics because I felt pressured to, then cancelled the payment the next morning.) Yesterday I went for a second opinion. I saw a Beth Israel affiliated podiatrist who teaches at Harvard. She carefully examined my feet, reviewed my xrays, and arrived at a totally different diagnosis -- metatarsalgia secondary to bunions, no PF, no need for lifts. She gave me a treatment plan that included OTC orthotics and met pads available via Amazon for a total of $46, removing the 1/4 inch lifts from my shoes, and staying off my foot as much as possible. She spent time describing foot anatomy to me and explaining what was going on in my foot and what I should expect in the future. I'm very glad that I went with my instinct that Dr. Lukoff was treating me as an ATM rather than a patient.

Trust the reviews of people saying Dr. Lukoff tried to scam them. I only caught him in his lies…read morebecause I called my insurance company and was able to prove that he had blatantly lied about what I owed him. Do not trust him, if you are charged for anything I really, really recommend following up with your insurance company and making sure what he charged you is what you were actually supposed to pay. The custom orthotics that he uses predatory practices to insist you need to buy from him on the spot that cost around $2000 can actually be bought for around $500 from a non scam artist podiatrist. Also, he does not tell you that there are exercises you can try before buying expensive orthotics or even trying $30 dollar orthotics from CVS first (which worked perfectly for me). I highly recommend not taking what he says for face value and getting a second opinion before agreeing to whatever he tells you you 'need'.
