Overall very good dining experience here!…read more We're very hungry after driving all day for over 450 miles. As I usually do, I consulted nearby restaurants to see what we wanted to eat. There were quite a few Asian ones popped up, so we decided to try our luck with some Korean food. Since it was such an nice evening, we decided to stroll along a canal to work up more appetite. Originally we wanted to go to a different restaurant, but when we got there it was full, and the server told us it'll be an hour wait. We couldn't wait that long, so we looked for an alternative. We found Khan, and we weren't disappointed. Very fortunately we found only table open. Service was prompt, pleasant, and courteous. It wasn't overly friendly, perhaps reflective of cultural background. Food was very good--of course we were very hungry by the time we got there. Number of banchan (side dishes) offered was minimal compared to what I'm used to in the States. My only complaint was the overpriced foods! It's probably because we are in Amsterdam, but it might be because there's not much compensation and Korean cuisine is a novelty around here. You will enjoy food here. Highly recommended.

We had both beef and chicken bulgogi bowls and both types of bibimbap. All empty bowls and big smiles at the end! We stumbled upon Seoul Food, and we decided to give it a try. When we first walked in, it was difficult to ascertain if it's a mini store, a take away restaurant, and then discovered it's a little bit of everything. You place your order at the counter with the very rude women that are standing there chatting amongst themselves and who don't really care if they have customers or not. Don't ask them about the food, their opinions, or anything else because they will only begrudgingly respond. Once you order, you can find somewhere to sit. Seating is extremely limited, and you're more likely to share a space with others than to have your own space. While we were sitting waiting for our food, which by the way is not brought to the table your number is called and you have to return back to the counter to pick it up yourself, they do have an entire wall filled with tchotchkes and food items. Number called and we picked up our food and we needed to ask for napkins and cutlery, because none of that was provided. The food pretty much was bland to mediocre, and the dishes that we ordered that should've been hot, were barely room temperature. The eggs in the dishes we ordered were premade and cold. Poor form, poor food, poor quality. Just not good whatsoever. The wontons were very rubbery and we were not able to eat them. They were that bad. Suffice to say, when in Amsterdam avoid this place at all costs.

I've been in Amsterdam for 6 weeks now and I haven't had any Asian food (I've had KBBQ, Sichuan, pho, Indonesian, "asian", and boba LOL) that's made me say "wow!" This is the first place that I can say is as good as what I'm used to in Los Angeles. I had the tekka-don, which is marinated sashimi tuna over rice -- the fish was fresh and the rice was the correct temperature. There was a light, sweet soy coating the whole thing. 4/5 stars. I also ordered some yakitori -- the chicken leg meat with spring onions was nothing short of relevatory. The pork belly yakitori I ordered was pretty amazing too. The place is difficult to find -- it's tucked into a hidden corner of the mall but it's worth searching for.

There are grills at the tables and you cook your own food. I recommend you visit the other Tanuki, as this one was a disappointment. Food: 2/5 I'm pretty sensitive to salt but even the other people I ate with found the meat to be too salty. Rumor has it that restaurants with not so fresh meat salt their food heavily to preserve it for longer... We had various types of chicken and pork, and most of it was mediocre. The pork neck was very tasty but it was the only one out of 7 meats. Service: 3/5 The waitstaff was very polite and attentive. Atmosphere: 4/5 They did a really good job with the renovation, the restaurant is beautiful. It is a nice mixture of modern and traditional Japanese decor. They even have those adorable booths where you need to take your shoes off. However, you can't eat atmosphere. Value: 2/5 Each 100g of meat was about 5 euros, which adds up... in the end, we decided to finish what we ordered and then finish our meal at McDonalds.
