We stumbled upon Seoul Food, and we decided to give it a try. When we first walked in, it was difficult to ascertain if it's a mini store, a take away restaurant, and then discovered it's a little bit of everything. You place your order at the counter with the very rude women that are standing there chatting amongst themselves and who don't really care if they have customers or not. Don't ask them about the food, their opinions, or anything else because they will only begrudgingly respond. Once you order, you can find somewhere to sit. Seating is extremely limited, and you're more likely to share a space with others than to have your own space. While we were sitting waiting for our food, which by the way is not brought to the table your number is called and you have to return back to the counter to pick it up yourself, they do have an entire wall filled with tchotchkes and food items. Number called and we picked up our food and we needed to ask for napkins and cutlery, because none of that was provided. The food pretty much was bland to mediocre, and the dishes that we ordered that should've been hot, were barely room temperature. The eggs in the dishes we ordered were premade and cold. Poor form, poor food, poor quality. Just not good whatsoever. The wontons were very rubbery and we were not able to eat them. They were that bad. Suffice to say, when in Amsterdam avoid this place at all costs.

Food: We ordered the following: 1) Kimchi Tofu - delicious and very big portion. It contained 8 pieces of tofu and plenty of kimchi and pork 2) Korean Fried Chicken - 8 pieces - it was good and not too greasy 3) Kimchi Jigae - nice, spicy and authentic 4) Kalbi Tang - Was ok, but didn't have the big bones of kalbi Drinks: We ordered one Korean corn tea (bodeecha) and a glass of soju. Ambiance: The evening we went it was very loud and "lively". Caveat: We went for dinner on a Friday night where it seemed that it was full of large tables of work people - and when I say work people I mean older Korean men - which means LOTS of soju drinking and very LOUD conversations. It was so loud that I couldn't even speak or hear my husband who was sitting in front of me. We literally had to shout to each other. So you can imagine what the restaurant was like where everyone was shouting. I'm not sure if this place is like this every night or even at lunch. But regardless, you never really go to a Korean restaurant for the "ambiance", you go for the food. And as long as the food was good I'll put up with the noise. Price: 72.00€ for two people Service: Very good and friendly. There were two guys and a packed restaurant and we never had to wait for anything. Would I go back? Absolutely. There's so much more on the menu that I'm dying to try.

When you walk in, looks like its the go to place for Korean business men who probably works nearby at LG. It feels like a slice of Korea in here! We ordered the kimchi tofu, kimchi pancake and fried chicken to share. The pancake was good - lotsa flavour but would like a bit more batter for the crispiness. The fried chicken was nice - good balance of seasoning. Wish there were some pickled radish. My favorite was the kimchi tofu w/ pork. So good! I did the Korean hmmmmmm at my first bite. Everything was really good but I have to admit it was a bit expensive but hey - every now again it's a really good treat.

I've been in Amsterdam for 6 weeks now and I haven't had any Asian food (I've had KBBQ, Sichuan, pho, Indonesian, "asian", and boba LOL) that's made me say "wow!" This is the first place that I can say is as good as what I'm used to in Los Angeles. I had the tekka-don, which is marinated sashimi tuna over rice -- the fish was fresh and the rice was the correct temperature. There was a light, sweet soy coating the whole thing. 4/5 stars. I also ordered some yakitori -- the chicken leg meat with spring onions was nothing short of relevatory. The pork belly yakitori I ordered was pretty amazing too. The place is difficult to find -- it's tucked into a hidden corner of the mall but it's worth searching for.

There are grills at the tables and you cook your own food. I recommend you visit the other Tanuki, as this one was a disappointment. Food: 2/5 I'm pretty sensitive to salt but even the other people I ate with found the meat to be too salty. Rumor has it that restaurants with not so fresh meat salt their food heavily to preserve it for longer... We had various types of chicken and pork, and most of it was mediocre. The pork neck was very tasty but it was the only one out of 7 meats. Service: 3/5 The waitstaff was very polite and attentive. Atmosphere: 4/5 They did a really good job with the renovation, the restaurant is beautiful. It is a nice mixture of modern and traditional Japanese decor. They even have those adorable booths where you need to take your shoes off. However, you can't eat atmosphere. Value: 2/5 Each 100g of meat was about 5 euros, which adds up... in the end, we decided to finish what we ordered and then finish our meal at McDonalds.

Food was reasonable in price and great tasting, although some would find the portions small. I found them just right. Get some home made French fries on the side if you are hungry. At the end the single espresso was really good. Recommended.
