I stopped by Dan Electros Guitar Bar on a Wednesday night. First off, before I get to it, what a cool name for a bar. Let's get to it. Ambiance (3/5): Dan Electros is located in a residential neighborhood. They have a relatively small parking lot and it was completely full on a Wednesday. We ended up parking on the street a block or two away. Initially, I wasn't too impressed. Dan Electros has a gravel parking lot. Never a fan. It gets your car dirty and your shoes dirty. When you walk in though, you're entering a dive bar with some character. It's tough to describe what that is exactly but it's something you feel. Dan Electros hosts a lot of live music and they have a small dance floor. If you're into live music, as I am, this may be the spot for you. They also have a pool table which is always a plus in my book. Service (4/5): I ordered a drink at the bar. I was greeted promptly and received my drink promptly. When I later went back to the bar to close out, I was able to do so without much effort. Solid experience overall. Food (N/A): I didn't have any food as I had dinner prior, but I don't think they have food anyway. I'm not 100% though. Drinks (4/5): For a dive bar, Dan Electros has a cool menu with some interesting cocktails and a good beer list. If you want local bands, chill vibes, and a good time - Dan's is the place to be ! Parking: They do have a parking lot out front but with how popular they have gotten lately, it gets pretty full. There is plenty of street parking around as well Venue: This place is a total vibe! They have a stage in the main area just off the bar with seating towards the back of the room and around the sides. They also have an outdoor patio that is quite large and generally has some sort of food available out there Bar: They have all the usual drinks . So, this spot is not my usual, but after coming here for a KT events collab, I'll definitely keep it in mind when I'm in the area! For a casual night out, I'm sure parking is alright, but for a large event, it can be a bit tight as a portion of the lot is reserved for the bar next door. I love the casual atmosphere here, the popcorn in the corner, booths and diner seats, and a decent sized patio. The stage is a stage but it does its purpose (which is really the only point right l)! Our bartender was sweet, and drinks were cheap and simple (if you want a craft cocktail, this may not be your spot). Dan Electro's is truly a hidden gem in Houston. Literally live music every night, of all varieties. They commonly have food trucks or food pop ups pretty much every night. The service is quick and the bartenders are always efficient and friendly. There is even music during the day most weekends. Cover is usually pretty reasonable. Musicians range from local to traveling. Happy hour is definitely underrated and good deals. You may need to park in the neighborhood surrounding the bar, but that is pretty common for the Heights. There's also lots of places to walk to before and after for food or drink options! read more

Dan Electros guitar bar has been around over 30 years in the Houston Heights. I have been numerous times. This 7 day a week live music venue was purchased by Spice Records 2-3 years ago and keeps getting better. I am meeting friends there tonight March 6, 2026 for a Pink Floyd Tribute --good music with a small dance floor , cool outdoor space and if the muncies hit, there is a food truck . Went to go see The Flamin Hellcats play Friday night. I'd been one time before after an Astros game. It's a funky little bar with good bands and a great outside area. The first time I went, I wasn't impressed. The wait staff wasn't very friendly, but the second time, it seemed to be better. I wanted a shot to tequila and asked the server what she recommended... she recommended her favorite, and it was spot on. Some of the best, smoothest tequila that I've ever had. She did great and was very nice about helping. My only complaint about that night was that they seemed to be VERY under staffed, and the bar stayed overwhelmed most of the night. I dont know if they weren't expecting the crowd that they had, or if it's like that all the time. But I'm hoping that it was just because the crowd was larger than they expected. I'll go back to listen to the good live music that they have, but may try to find another place if the staff is always overwhelmed and it takes so long to get drinks. read more

Great place. We learned on this visit they have comedy, not just music. So, good to know and I plan to follow them so we can stay up to date on their events. Nice, clean place. Need more and better chairs at the bar. Vannesa and Ayesha behind the bar were great. Between them and some other folks at the end of the bar, we had a lot of laughs. My favorite 90's cover band The Monicas hosted a 90's prom night here so I had to come check it out. Up to that point, I had never heard of this place. I looked it up on Yelp and saw the high ratings and couldn't wait to check it out for myself. Located in the Greater Heights area, getting here was pretty easy. They have a decent sized gravel parking lot which I wasn't a big fan of. Drive slow through there. We were some of the early birds so we snagged a nice sized booth close to the bar. By the time the band went on stage, the place was pretty packed. They have this divey, but clean vibe going. There is a nice, huge patio in the back that looks like it would be a cool place to hang weather permitting. Customer service was great considering the minimal interaction I had with the staff. My friends and I were on a beer kick that day so we just kept the buckets flowing throughout the night. Overall, a great time was had by all and I would not hesitate to come back! read more

Came here on a Thursday night for a free show and had a great time! Parking is on a gravel lot and there a decent amount. We showed up around 8pm and got a spot right up front. The service was quick and friendly. I seriously loved that the lonestars I was ordering were ice cold every single time. There's tons of seating areas all around inside, outside, and upstairs- Lots of options with different vibes. There's tvs for sports, bocce ball and corn hole outside, there was a food truck there that night, and even a pop up vintage seller. Upstairs was super cool and chill to hang out, plus it has another bathroom up there. The bathrooms were clean, only 2 stalls though. The music was a lot of fun and the stage is in a good spot inside. Best part is we could walk or bike here if we want! Will def be back, very cool bar. read more

New owners I think I heard. They did a greet remodel. Kept the integrity of the bar and just made it better and more comfortable. Really cleaned up the outside area and upstairs in what was an abandoned apartment. The sound and the stage are much better and great beers and drinks. Love all of it except the bartenders are awful. Went on a wed night for a drink and the staff dawdles talking and the line doesn't move. Train your staff Please. SLLOOOOWW service. Other than that A plus. If you get slow service just don't tip. Meat mojo has been a favorite of ours for years but we hadn't been since before covid. The rack of lamb is always our favorite to get. It's always cooked perfectly! The mashed potatoes are a must for a side and of course the ninja sauce that comes with the entrees. It was our first time to Dan Electros and it's a fun neighborhood bar with a large outdoor patio. Get here early if you want some meat mojo! Just expect a long wait time for the food. We got there at 615 pm when they were setting up, but got our food around 740 pm. We used to get do steak night at Public House Heights on Wednesday's but not since we discovered Chef Bryan also does steak night at Dan Electros Guitar Bar on Thursday's. Parking is easier as there's a large parking lot by Dan's. Dan's also has a lot more seating options with many tables indoor by the stage and a large backyard for outdoor seating. Dan's has a good selection of beers on tap and canned. We've tried prime vs choice beef, pork chop, and lamb racks. I'm not exaggerating but every meat is cooked to perfection. I love dipping the different meats in the ninja sauce for extra kick and sweet, garlicky goodness! I don't know how Chef Bryan does it but the pineapple slices are always perfectly ripe and sweet. Just remember to buy yourself a drink at the bar, enjoy the live music indoors, and bring enough cash to treat yourself to a full bully's contentment through Chef Bryan's signature dishes! read more

I had been wanting to try out this venue since it came under new ownership. First, it's very hard to find a live music calendar online. Their website and social media presence is a train wreck. I finally found a schedule on Bandsintown, and got excited to see a rockabilly band that I was familiar with, advertised to go on at 7 PM. I show up at 7 PM only to learn that the rockabilly band went on at 2 PM. Darn. I was very disappointed. We heard others at the bar say that they were disappointed, too. There was another band scheduled to go on at 7 PM, so we decided to hang out and have a drink anyway. We ordered a mixed drink and a beer ($20, which is a lot for dive bar). By 8 PM, there was still no music, so we left. Some friends were planning to us later, and ending up showing up around 9 PM. They immediately left. Turns out it was a metal band. It seems the venue needs to get their calendar published correctly. read more

Nice venue. Staff are friendly. On July 9th I went to see the Dave Matthews tribute band, Too Much to Say. What a wonderful show! They played 24 songs - 20 full band and 4 solo by Joe. A nice selection of well known favorites and deep dives. All were very well done with energy and enthusiasm. Intricate and dynamic conversations between the instruments. Chris' Bass and Kevin's sax answering, supporting, and doubling. The driving rhythm of Joe's acoustic, and Jordan's drums keeping it all together and stepping out with tantalizing fills. Thank you Chris, Kevin, Joe and Jordan for a perfect afternoon of music. I can hardly wait for show #3! read more

They don't make music venues like they used to - at least not in Houston. Dan Electro's is far away from all the craziness of the frat boy or hipster scene; it's dark, it's dindgy, it's my kind of place for live tunes. Best of all, it's BYOB (of liquor) since the bar only offers beer and wine. They provide the setups - talk about the best and cheapest bottle service in town. :) Great parking, fair cover charge if any, patio for the smokers. It's a good time for all. read more

Have seen multiple people walk out because of the very RUDE staff. They will pour you the cheap liquor and charge you for the top shelf, so ALWAYS pay attention to your drink and tab.
