The movers moved my daughter's house to a storage unit. I was not at my daughter's home but did pay for the move. My daughter stated that they treated her with disrespect and moved her items also without caring about what they were moving. The movers put everything up front in the storage area and piled things 6 feet high up front so you can't even get into the area. I was over charged and Nick in the office fixed that immediately. I don't really think it's the company that was bad just this moving crew. read more

Dan's moving makes you sign a long worded wavier indicating they are not responsible for any damage or lost articles in the fine print. They pop this at you AFTER the non refundable down payment has been processed. That was my first red flag. Two guys showed up on moving day late and began carelessly loading my furniture without any blankets. I didn't like the look of any of this, especially the loaded truck before leaving. I assumed they knew what they were doing. It was clear they did not. One man had mentioned there was another move to do yet today. My furniture was absolutely flawless before they did this move. When they unloaded I noticed scuffs and nicks on my new end tables, kitchen chairs and a 3 inch tear at the lower front of my couch with dirt on the chair cushions. I confronted them about what I noticed in damage and they replied, "you have to expect this when moving". Being very dissatisfied with that answer, I called and talked to a man name Nick at the office. He said, Sorry sir, but you signed our waiver. He continue to tell me that my home insurance should cover the damages. I WILL NEVER, EVER RECOMMEND DAN'S MOVING TO ANYBODY and I will tell everyone I know about this horrible experience. read more

This guy wants to charge me $200 down and a minimum of 3 hrs flat rate, just to move my furniture to another floor in my building. I live in a small senior/disabled apartment with 1 bedroom, unbelievable. I have to move into another apartment that is closer to the elevator for medical reasons. I am disabled, a senior and now I am facing major back surgery on the 11th. I live on social security and there is no way in heck that I can afford what he is asking. My building has 2 elevators, so it would be easy to move that stuff. Outrageous! read more

This review is for unloading services only, as my partner and I moved across the country and needed help unloading our ABF trailer. We had two guys unloading--Nick and Brennan--and they were polite and courteous at every step of the way. Some of our furniture was too big to fit through various impossibly tight places, but they were mostly able to do some troubleshooting to get things through. I was impressed. The cost was reasonable and on par with the cost of similar services in other parts of the country (we've moved a lot!), unlike some other GB companies whose rates I found unreasonable. If/when we move again, we'll be sure to hire Dan's Moving Van. read more

All furniture was wrapped in blankets very securely and carefully carried out to be loaded in their truck. We used Dan's Moving for our move from our house to an apartment while we waited for our home in Florida to be finished. Things went well. Dan's told us they did long distance moves, even to Florida. So, we called them when it came time to move to Florida. The quote was less than the van line movers, so we agreed. It included a 26' Penske truck, rented in our name. We then had a review of the items and boxes to be moved. Dan's kept saying it would not all fit so we should decide what not to take in case. He also said they may have to lease another truck from Penske. That would have turned our savings into a much higher cost. So, we said no to an additional truck, and decided on a few items we were not sure we would want in Florida anyway. We got a call about a week prior to our move. Not only would we have to rent the truck in our name with one of the moving experts as a second driver, but my husband would have to also do some of the driving of that truck. If we had time, we would have cancelled. We did not have time, so agreed. This meant I would be doing most of our vehicle driving, with help from a mover. Not our plan. Moving day came, Dan's was still saying they didn't think everything would fit. Turns out all fit, and there was space to spare. The truck was packed, we finished cleaning the apartment, and left. Two overnights and we were at our home in Florida. Things were unloaded, placed as requested, then WE had to return the truck to Penske, in Orlando, dropping off the movers at a hotel there. Dan's then added the cost of their two night stay in Orlando to our bill. And, we had an awful time getting them to their hotel and the Penske returned. Traffic was horrible, construction was awful, and the experience worse. The original agreement was THEY would take the truck back to Orlando and pay for the mover's stay. So, if you don't mind putting a Penske truck in your name and doing half of the driving yourself, Dan's is ok. But they are not licensed to go out of state so liability is on you outside Wisconsin. The moving experts were great - very efficient and diligent. We made it through but did not enjoy the ride! read more

Update: After I wrote the review, Nick got a hold of me. We discussed the billing issues and I was sent a check to cover the over charges. It was unfortunate that we could not have gotten this straightened out from the start but I am happy to be able to put it behind me. I think it is important for both parties to have the pricing in a written contract from the time the agreement is made. This may prevent any misunderstandings in the future and actually help Dan's Moving avoid having to deal with things like this after the fact. read more

Based on other reviews, I hired them to move me from one house to another 35 miles away. They showed up in a rental truck, didn't have the right tools with them and had to borrow mine, broke my bed frame trying to get it apart, borrowed blankets to wrap furniture and didn't return them, broke my tv, etc. Many problems. We called several places and they had the best prices. They came to pack one day and were very quick. The next day they came to load the truck and unload it at the new house. The young men who did all the heavy lifting were friendly, respectful and hard working. Nick, you need to get your facts straight. For one, you moved us to Neenah, not Appleton, which is quite a bit farther from Oshkosh. Two: We talked AT LENGTH about the piano. It was the first thing I asked you about. Three: You NEVER mentioned a second truck. It was NEVER discussed. You said $20 for gas for one way and "a little more" if a second trip was needed. I signed a contract the morning of the move. Never before the move was I told of a trip charge. And I don't recall seeing anything on that contract about it. Send me a copy of what I signed, and if I'm wrong, I'll admit it for all to see. But the fact that you never mentioned it before the move will stand. You have so many facts incorrect. Also, I did not say Two Men and a Truck charge only $50 more for the piano. I said another company (name I can't remember) was charging $50 more. YOU choose your hourly rates. Not my problem. I'm sorry, but your employees' safety is NOT my problem/concern after you tell me a month-plus before my move that you can move my piano down six stairs for an extra $100 and then call me the night before and backpedal on all that. You said you had it in your notes that it was six stairs but that you forgot we had a piano. You said NO COMPANY would move my piano with three guys. It would have to be at least four. WRONG! It was your responsibility to make things right and deliver a service that was promised, which you ended up doing but with pricing problems in the end. You also did not call to sort those out. We called you. I appreciate that you moved the piano in the end, but you had me panicking THE NIGHT BEFORE that it wouldn't get moved. And you shorted me a guy, which shouldn't have happened when I was the first customer to book for that half of the week/long weekend. You said it would be $800-900 tops with three guys. So if I'd had three guys as I had asked for, it might have come in less. I would recommend your movers, certainly, but people really need to get everything in writing from you before move day. read more
