We came here for the Abbot Tech graduation. I have been here for a few events, such as ice-skating, the circus, and hockey. Food and drink sales at the concessions. The building is always a good temperature no matter what season it is. Lots of banners are decorated all over the building. My only gripe was the parking. I don't know if it is a city parking lot, or owned by the arena. No enforcement of people taking two spots. That day, it was a complete disaster to exit the parking lot. Knowing there was a huge event, there should have been employees assisting with all of the cars exiting. There was an employee on each floor. It didn't seem like they were doing anything. I was one of the first people to my car. I sat for almost 20 minutes before being able to get out of my spot. Other than that, would definitely visit the arena again, probably just not park in the garage. read more

We've been to Danbury Ice Arena several times now to support the newly launched Spice City FC, and it's always a great experience! The arena has a fun and energetic atmosphere, making it a fantastic place to catch a game. While the food and drink options are somewhat limited, what's available is decent, and it's great to have something on hand while enjoying the action. One of the best parts is the easy access to parking--there's a garage right across the street, which makes getting in and out hassle-free. We love supporting local teams and venues, and Danbury Ice Arena is definitely a place worth checking out. Looking forward to more games here! read more

I actually really enjoy coming here! Since they've updated the place it's been very enjoyable. Food is actually good for what it is. The hockey games are fun and lively. Ice skating here is great too. Staff is super friendly. Pricing seems fair. When attending a game I'll get, a pitcher of beer ($17 for 80oz) , Mac n cheese bites ($5), ice cream ($6), and they have a good selection of other stuff. I recommend it. read more

Absolutely awful! Came here for years with my daughter's to public and DJ skate and they were always well organized. Tonight kids were hanging out in huge clusters on the ice. In the middle, the sides blocking a huge path for actual skaters. I asked an employee if they could do something and after the eye roll they sent someone out to ask the person in "charge" to take care of it. Nothing was resolved. I was told that if people have a hard time skating, they hold on to the side. That I understand completely. This wasn't the case, kids were hanging out throwing things on the ice and ripping hats off of some kids heads as they skated by and on their cell phones. We're not regulars for classes or games, just occasional partakers in the free skate times at Liberty Arena. (Free skate in Liberty Arena... get it? Hohoho....) We think the free -- read: public, not no cost -- skate times are great! Staff are chill and low key, and although prices for entry and skate rental are slightly spendy for the area, they are not overly outrageous. Bathrooms are usually reasonably clean. Volunteer "coaches" on the ice are friendly and helpful and try to make everyone feel welcome. Those "walkers" for beginner skaters, available to anyone who needs one, for free (read: no cost), are a wonderful touch. The end result of these guest-friendly policies is that there are folks of all ages and abilities on the ice having a good time. At the snack bar, there's a selection of low-ABV canned cocktails, ciders and beers, fairly priced. The ice is great, well maintained, well zamboni'd. But why is the zamboni all decked out in Rangers colors? (Everyone with me, now: "RANGERS SUCK! LET'S GO DEVILS!!") Deep question. I'm sure there are deep answers. read more

I used to go to Danbury Ice Arena when I was growing up for free skate. It had been many years since I entered this building until I went to a Danbury Whalers hockey game the other night. Living out of state, I haven't had a chance to see the Whalers play during their first or second seasons. I'm excited to be here now to experience them. The game was awesome and the night that I went was dedicated to the victims of Newtown. The team honored a long time fan of the Whalers, who is also a middle school teacher in Newtown, by giving her a season pass for life. I like the different breaks that occur throughout the game. There's a time every game for Military Appreciation, chuck a whale (which occurs after the Whalers score their first goal of the night), and chuck a puck (where fans throw pucks down from the stands trying to make it into a toilet, sponsored by Carmine's Plumbing & Heating, for a chance to win a gift certificate to a restaurant in town). Ticket prices aren't too bad. I thought they were steep at first ($15.75 for adults, $10 for kids), but then you have to remember that this is a semiprofessional team and they need to make revenue somehow. Other than the jerseys (which cost an upwards of $125 to $150), the merchandise is reasonably priced. $40 for a hoodie and $20 for a hat (either ball cap or beanie). I like this hockey league. They are very aggressive and passionate, which is how hockey should be. I think the Whalers are a great addition to Danbury. read more

Worst Ice arena ever. The 2 GM's have no idea how to manage their employees, and are extremely rude to customers. I almost broke my ankle 3 times because liberty rink is in poor conditions and they show no remorse or any interest on fixing it. Would they rather lose $5,000 or a $1,000,000+ lawsuit and continue their bad reputation for someone breaking their foot, leg or ankle. Diamond properties has no idea how to run an ice arena. I Do Not recommend anyone goes to this Ice Arena for anything, not even Hat Tricks games. they need to get their act together before someone gets hurt. read more

A very good hockey/skating program. My young son has been taking lessons all summer. (Future Rangers) The coaches work those kids like sled dogs and they are better for it! Also, as mentioned, the Danbury Whalers are always a good time, although it can get a little salty in the stands with the hardcore fans and their potty mouths. But it's nothing my 3 & 5 year old haven't heard already in the confines of our house when dear old dad loses his cool. I'm contemplating dropping a star for the somewhat spendy tickets (This is the FHL, and what are there.....3 teams in the league?) But overall, i'll give the ice rink a 5 star review because the good outweighs the bad. One note: The snack bar is on-again-off-again with serving breakfast sandwiches in the morning. Get it together! PS: Restroom users be warned: The toilet paper is so thin, it's transparent! I don't know what kind of low-budget deal they struck, but Third World countries have it better. The hockey programs for kids are great but since the new owners bought it, the price gouging has begun. 7 dollar cheeseburgers that are a slab on a bun with nithing and $4 bottles of soda. Might be 5 now since that's what the signs are saying. It will be a shame when they jack up the prices for the programs. They wanted the young kids to come skate at halftime for their fans. Kids got in free, so nice if them, but the parents had to pay. Seriously. Im gonna keep my kid up late to provide entertainment for your fans and your gonna charge me for the privilege to do so?? What? Money hungry. When you go bring lots of cash because the new ownership thinks its NYC. read more

Have gone here at least once per year for open skate since the arena opened, always enjoyable. This last time I brought a birthday party of 12 yr old girls to "Friday night DJ skate". I hadn't been in probably almost a year and was shocked at how neglected the ice was. Very damaged and difficult to skate on, and not much improved even after Zamboni smoothed it over. Didn't help that teenage boys were gouging the crap out of it and skating around recklessly, bumping into people. Seemed like a bunch of kids were staffing and running the place. Girls had fun but not because of the skating; skated less 1.5 hours and gave up, not worth the $150 I spent between skating and snacks/drinks. Hope they can improve quality for open skate or I won't be returning. read more

What a dump! The place should be shut down by the Board of Health. The bathrooms are filthy as well as the hockey locker rooms. The 2 rinks are littered with trash along the outside of the boards and the ice itself is not well maintained either. In addition, the staff looked so disinterested and couldn't crack a smile, especially this one guy in the snack-bar who was the antithesis of customer service. Unfortunately, we had to be there for a tournament, which will undoubtedly be moved to another venue according to the organizers. I would avoid the place at all cost if you can manage to. read more

This is as good as it gets in CT rinks! Since the ownership change and needed improvements over the last year (YES, during Covid!) the new atmosphere is evident from the moment you walk in the door. The staff is friendly and helpful and when issues arise they communicate and attempt to rectify as quickly as possible. Really cannot ask for much more than that. I have been here several dozen times for Danbury Whalers hockey games and I think it is one of the best hockey rinks in the area! The food is pretty decent, although the prices are a bit steep.... ticket prices are superb and there is always great perks! At almost every hockey game they give away gift certificates to Buffalo Wild Wings so just by attending the game, you get 6 to 12 free wings more times than not! Don't go to this rink hungry. The young guy working the snack bar doesn't know what the heck is going on. When I complained to customer service...they said the male employee is the manager of the snack bar's son. Be prepared buddy...it's 7:00 on a Sat night and there is a game that just ended. Shouldn't have to wait 1/2 hr for one cheeseburger. And the other female employee "doesn't know how to make a burger." Got my money back. Worst customer service ever. read more

We started attending Whalers games last year. We had a wonderful time each time. Our first ever game we sat one row behind the Whalers bench. In between the first and second period, a gentleman who I think was a trainer came over to our seats and gave me for my 8 and 7 year old a puck right off the ice. It actually still had ice on the puck. We were amazed, surprised and thankful. Amazing our first hockey game as a family and we get a puck. Amazing. Thank you Danbury Whalers, you've got fans for life. The arena itself is nice and we'll kept. The staff were very nice. The food area was just ok. read more

Only seen one Danbury Whalers game here. The arena is fairly new and is still in great shape. You need a fleece or something else to wear if you're going to watch a hockey game. A hat wouldn't be a bad idea either, although, I shave my head, so you may be able to ignore that last bit. I didn't check out the snack stand, but saw a lot of folks with beers, but not with food. No idea what the prices are. Hockey ticket was $16. Not too bad for a couple hours of decent hockey. Danbury won as well so that helps! It's not a huge arena seating-wise, but there are still some seats available. There are tons of giveaways. basically everyone in the joint got almost a dozen free wings and a free race at On Track Karting in Brookfield. That all more than paid for the cost of admission. read more
