Parking is kinda annoying but there are always spots. The real issue comes to making the trek back to your vehicle bc you legit have to climb a small mountain of stairs to get back. Watch out for ice too in winter. The rink itself isn't overly cold and I end up being comfortable in just a sweatshirt, sans jacket. Popcorn and drinks and other food available are decent prices, nothing over the top. No alc tho so um.. better figure that one out for yourself.. Security to get into West Point is great, and fairly quick, and hey, it makes you feel safer so I'm cool with that. After the games the gang and I like to go grab a drink at the Thayer after.

Since most of my son's team was not able to play this game, I had to put a ragtime of players together for this game. Despite losing it was an amazing experience for all the kids. The locker rooms were beautiful, and the experience of playing at this arena was just as sweet. We also saw the Army Hockey boarding the bus for one of their road games.

Not very smooth per the skaters coming off that were more advanced. The beginner coaches here are very friendly, per some of the other parents, otherwise kids are coming for the freestyle practice sessions ($25) - you can pay online or in-person (though that's slower). The two sheets are the American and Canadian ice sheets. The main lobby has some wooden benches for skaters to put on gear, but if you want a table to work as an adult, go upstairs to the "cafe-ish" and viewing areas over the rinks (which is nice). I love the hot chocolate with marshmallows, whipped cream, and chocolate syrup with some brown sugar pop-tarts to warm me up and satisfy my sweet tooth. Staff is friendly and there are plenty of tvs upstairs to watch whatever hockey game is on or other sporting event.

This rink brings me back to my childhood. It's, of course, outdoors, and super cheap with a Groupon (under $20 total, for two, with a Groupon). That price also includes the skate rental, which are readily available in all sizes. At the rink, they have music playing, and people of all ages on the ice. Although, the times I've visited, I've mainly seen younger teenagers and kids on the ice. About an hour into free skate, if the weather is warm, the rink can get a little soft and icy, but that's what you expect with an outdoor rink. The rink can get crowded at times and a lot of people tend to gather on towards the one entrance/exit. The inside ticket area offers no refreshments, vending machines or even water fountain, so come prepared and hydrated. They do have lockers, but you pay every time you open them (quarters only), so plan accordingly. Parking is easy and people are coming and going all fay, so even on the Sunday before Christmas, I was easily able to find a spot. The staff here seems to be mainly high school students, who are attentive and very friendly. Overall, a great way to spend some time outdoors in the winter.

On a cold Sunday afternoon, my daughter was pleading with me take her ice skating and the only other option was outside on a windy day so we opted to come here. Checkin was a breeze. Town of Oyster Bay residents get a healthy break but even though we live in Huntington, it was a super low price to skate for three hours for $14- that's including the skate rentals. So a super slam dunk for this low cost activity to burn some calories and pent up energy. The staff was friendly and we were up and running in no time at all. There were two windows open for payment and about 4 people behind to get your skates. Leave one of your shoes and they give you a pair in your size. The rink was divided into a trio of areas. The center was used for those who figure skate. And one side was coned off for additional practice. The rest was set up for those who do the traditional counter clockwise circular skating we all are accustomed to. At about half-time, the Zamboni came out to refinish the ice and made for a clean, smooth ride. There are guards there for safety but as far as I could see, were really unnecessary. Bleachers are set up for those who don't want to break their butts (like me) and can cheer on their team or little one while they skate. There is a pro shop inside to buy whatever you might need. For a low cost event, this really was a no- brainer.

The rent and ticket to enter are different for residents but still very reasonable. The skates were great, newer than in other places we had been. You need to give one of your shoes as a deposit. Weekdays seem to be set aside for freestyle -- meaning you if pay for lessons you can also pay for ice time sessions during the week. Lessons for children start at about $25 per half hour and up. As an adult pre-covid, I paid $50 per half hour for a 6-week session and learned very little. Freestyle sessions are about $18 per hour. Although an incredibly healthy and wonderful sport for adults, it seems too challenging to actually attend on a regular basis during the week, especially if you just want to skate without paying for the additional cost of lessons. I'll have to dust off my roller skates and hit the rail trails and hope, that one day, they'll become more senior friendly in their schedule.

Basically the staff continued to tell me I needed to register first before I could purchase ice time. They ended the statements with "okay" that was followed by a long pause. I called twice to no avail. No one was helpful at all. They also didn't say you could just pay in person. If they did, I would have just showed up and dealt with the poor customer service face to face. The website was even more difficult to navigate and I learned you have to log out and log back in after registration to be able to see actual ice times. It was not user friendly but maybe I am just old. The facility was over crowded, staff sent me to the counter to check in and the counter sent me to a separate desk as I didn't need to register but rather pick up my wrist band. If the staff listened I wouldn't have waited on the long line when I didn't need to and then be sent to a different line for a wrist band. The bathroom was disgusting. There was spit dripping off the faucet and some kind of something gross in the other sink. I was pretty sure the bathroom was a hepatitis breeding ground. Getting on the ice was even worse, staff stopped me every single time to make me to show my wristband when I had a child that was having difficulty getting his balance. I get it's policy but let us get our footing before crawling down our backs to show our bands. Also, if you need the child skate supports, you need to purchase them for $3 at the desk all the way in front. No one tells you that until you get to the ice and ask for one. And if you dare to put it to the side to tie a skate or attempt to huge your child skate on their own, people are savage and steal it. Really not the family fun I would have wanted, more like an episode of Survivor: Ice Time.

The skating session is a bit tricky, it can range from 1.5 hours to 2.5 hours but you would always know in advance upon online signup. The public skating session is available for registration online. As with any skating place, the skates that everyone uses are no good, always good to invest in a pair, more comfortable and won't ruin the experience. It's one hockey size rink with no lockers. They have cubbies to put your shoes and might fit a really small bag. They have vending machines at reasonable prices. Parking lot has a lot of spaces but apparently it does fill up quick.
