When I came home, I reviewed my receipt and there was a $25.00 "Customer Pay Shop Charge for Repair Order" ... A Warning: Avoid This Service Center - A Clear Conflict of Interest I took my wife's 2018 VW Beetle to this service center for what should have been a simple oil change and a look at a radio issue. The car is in fantastic shape, driven less than 4,000 miles in the past year, and only has 37,000 miles on the odometer. From the moment I arrived, it felt less like a service center and more like a used car lot. The service advisor, Eric, immediately pushed for an expensive, 40,000-mile service package. After a few questions, I was shocked to discover that the car had a 60,000-mile service performed just a year prior. He claimed that service was performed based on the age of the car and not the miles. The proposed 40k service was almost entirely redundant, with the only "new" item being spark plugs. Despite my clear and repeated refusals in person, Eric called a couple of days later to once again press me on the unnecessary 40k service. After finally getting them to proceed with only the essential work--the oil change and a radio diagnostic--the final bill for a simple oil change and a radio software update came to over $500, with the oil change alone costing a staggering $170. The most telling moment came when I picked up the car. I asked the service consultant if he was commissioned on the services he sold, and he confirmed with a simple "Yes." This is the core of the problem. This center's incentive is not to act in the best interest of the customer, but to maximize profits through aggressive up-selling of unneeded services. I could easily see them taking advantage of less informed customers and charging them thousands of dollars for work that simply isn't needed. The company's motto of "if you take care of your car, it will take care of you" seems to be their justification for taking advantage of customers. I paid $210 to Volkswagen of Danbury on May 21 for a diagnostic. They gave me a printed report, which I immediately saved to my phone in case anything shady happened later. That report specifically recommended replacing the fuel injector harness. My trusted mechanic used that exact report to try and order the part. He contacted Volkswagen multiple times over the course of more than two weeks with no response. When I called him today to follow up, he called Volkswagen again. This time, they claimed they never performed a full diagnostic. They said the part was never officially recommended and that it was only a suggestion. That is completely dishonest. Not only did I pay for the diagnostic, they handed me a printed report with that part listed as a necessary repair and followed up with calls urging me to bring the car back in. But now that I chose not to pay their $1400 estimate and go with my own mechanic, they are trying to rewrite the story. If I had not followed up today, I would still be waiting around with no answers and no part. Whether this is incompetence or a deliberate tactic to force customers into overpaying, the result is the same. It is unacceptable. I would not trust Volkswagen of Danbury to service a toy car at this point. Document everything and do not take their word for anything. Always get your receipts. Always save your reports. Always ask questions. If something feels off, it probably is. Protect your time, your money, and your vehicle. This experience has been nothing short of frustrating and suspicious. Read the reviews , they don't let lie. Honestly the manager John needs to be fired. The mechanic Vinny gives you a run around to buy them more time and then John will go along with the story. They claimed to be working on the car when they weren't. Our car camera and app sends us time stamped notifications every time someone is in the car, opens the door or turns on the car. If you absolutely have no choice to come here as that was the case with us (manufacturer issue, car not safe to drive ) then DO NOT LEAVE this place without a LOANER CAR. My car was in for service at the DANBURY VOLKSWAGEN dealership and after being there for a few days, the car was stolen in the middle of the night. This happened 3 weeks ago, and I have yet to hear back from them as to how they are going to make this right! This is not to be believed. The car was inside of their service area up on a lift, when an alleged known local thief, broke into the dealership and spent over two hours inside the building, before he decided to take the car down from the lift, remove my license plates and then proceed to steal "dealer plates" from one of their offices -- place them on my car and decided to open another garage door and drive out with my vehicle. This was fairly easy for him to do, given that the car was wide open, with the key fob left inside. All the while when there were no active alarms or motion detectors at the facility, let alone active to cause any alarm to go off. I kid you not. Ok let's start with the positive. They did fix one of two problems with my car. Now the bad... 3 weeks ... they had my car and with no loaners I was out of pocket with a rental. I get it, they can't always have one on hand. But after three weeks they called to tell me they fixed the overheating problem but still had not fixed the heater. I get it often it takes time to get parts but to not even look at the other issue in Feb when you had the car for 3 weeks is ridiculous. They let me know if I waited another month they would fix it and give me a loaner. That's just lazy and sloppy. Don't go there. Had a warranty claim which was covered. Dealer took over 10 months and did not even have car fixed didn't even touch it. I had wanted to sell the car before winter and not put any other money into it. Tires brakes etc. In time spent part and labor and my house lease expired in January I was forced to spend more money on my rental. Long story short this dealer took $4800 out of my pockets not to mention car value went down. Dont ever got there. They are incompetent and was lied to on multiple occasions. Service is slow and communication poor. Brought my car in for service at 7:45am, waited all day, no communication. Had to call them to find out status. Was told car needed a new intake manifold (only 48k miles on the car - will never buy another VW, totally unreliable). Was told part was in stock and work could be completed the next day. Following day, no updates, called at 2:30pm to speak with service rep, she was not available, was told she would call back. No call back. Had to call again at 4:30pm. not available, was told she would call back in 10 minutes. Called 30 minutes later to tell me "job was bigger than anticipated" and would need to hold the car over the weekend. Now left at 5pm on a Friday with no car for the weekend. There is no way they didn't know how long this repair would take. They just are unorganized and don't bother to communicate. this is the second time this has happened. Just picked up my new 2019 Jetta yesterday and could not be happier with the whole process! I worked with Erik specifically, but the entire team there was so helpful and friendly. Listen, I do not demonize dealers in general - and I know how tough it is to be a VW dealer right now. But... Had [what I thought to be] a burning brake smell from my 1 yr old/20K miles VW Alltrack, and the best Danbury VW (or others) could do was offer me an appointment 8 days later...so to be safe, I left the car parked for the whole time; wouldn't want to drive with a sticky caliper. Brought in the car yesterday, left it overnight. Had the oil change service at my cost too. The dealer called and said: nothing wrong, nothing to fix, and by the way it was a burning CLUTCH smell. That's even more troubling because clutches are only supposed to smell when there's slippage...either about to wear out, or during hilly, stop & start driving -- which was not the case. (I've exclusively driven manual transmission cars for many years.) When I asked what VW would do IF the clutch burns out prematurely, the service advisor said: "that would be a wear item; not covered by warranty." PROBLEM 1: Danbury VW told me: We won't stand by you in case you have an extremely premature clutch burnout. ($1500+ repair.) PROBLEM 2: Service Advisor added a $59 "diagnosis charge" for not diagnosing any repairable work. PROBLEM 3: When I disagreed about being charged the $59 "non-diagnosis" charge, the Service Advisor snapped back with: "clutch is a wear item" and "you authorized it when you signed." PROBLEM 4: When I politely mentioned I did not think this was fair, and would not be coming back if they insisted on collecting the $59; she said she'd credit it, but "it would come out of the pocket of the service technician." And besides: "...you probably won't be coming back anyhow." Astounding! Kissing a customer goodbye for a lousy $59. And (assuming she's telling the truth, and dealerships really work like this), sticking HER failure to communicate with the customer on the back of some poor mechanic behind the scenes. Awesome cars, great service! I've bought two cars from this place already! I absolutely love VW's. I'm currently driving a Golf TDI which is diesel, and gets me an average of 43 miles per gallon. I'd love to go into a full review of the car, but this review is for the dealership. I'll go into two parts, the car buying experience and the service experience. I walked into VW to get my car serviced. While I was here I decided to check out some of the newer models. Joe helped me out, listened to what I wanted and what I needed. He got me a great deal on a car I absolutely loved. No pressure, was extremely patient and understood what I truly wanted and what I could afford. Would definitely buy from him again. The service department is friendly and efficient. They have a little waiting area with complimentary coffee and tea, water, tv, a little couch and chairs and free wifi. If you ask, they have a shuttle service to the nearby Danbury Mall. I've always waited in the dealership, so I'm not sure how well the shuttle works. My only gripe is that it takes a long time to schedule a "while you wait" appointment. Drop off and leave your car is usually easier to get, but unless you have someone that can drive you here and bring you back, it's highly inconvenient. That's one thing I miss about the city. Drop off your car and hop on the subway. No need to drag an unwilling friend into the mix. Anyway, overall I'm happy with this place an would love to buy another vehicle for here. read more

I live about 20 minutes from here but decided to drive to Lash Volkswagen (50 minutes) because I though Westchester would be nicer. Well I was wrong. That place is a dumb and the employees are rude. But when I came here for service the atmosphere is so much nicer, the service reps are very nice and willing to help you, and the prices are cheaper! I've saved hundreds and hundreds of dollars here. Honest, informative, did the job and more My CPO GTI powered down in highway stride, two weeks after purchase from a VW dealership in lower NY. I had realized that I had the original owner's service records and the same problem was reported over its lease. I was more than upset, very worried and felt that my woes were unaccommodated by the dealership of purchase. Danbury VW not only offered to help but showed true concern with my car troubles, more so then the original dealership. In three appointments, the problem with my GTI was identified and fixed. The issue with the car losing power literally was an issue that was unresolved for three years. Meaning, Danbury VW had the facility and resources to take of my car. Hands down the best service Department in CT as far as VW factory service. The shop foreman is one of the most knowledgeable VW techs around. My car was given the "its fine" at another dealer when I knew I had a turbo issue on my 2016. Danbury diagnosed it quickly and properly and replaced it all under warranty. The three women and gentleman at the service desk are all very helpful and professional too. I actually drive 40 miles past several other VW dealerships to go here. I previously reviewed the sales department and gave it a good review, this review relates to the service department and is not as good For me to fill out a survey or post a review of an establishment, usually means that there is something exceptional about - either exceptionally good or bad. If things are merely fine I just don't think it worth my time to point that out. So after taking my car to Danbury Volkswagen for regularly scheduled maintenance which had been included as a part of the deal when I purchased the car, I ignored the first few requests to review them. The service I received was fine. It was not as good as I would have received at independent shops that specialize in routine maintenance but it was okay. Thus I ignored the request for a review. But in the days that days that followed, they kept contacting me asking for my opinion on how they had done. First, I received an email asking that I post a review on Yelp and other sites. I received emails asking that I fill our their own survey. I received three voice mails asking for my feedback. As I said I generally only review establishments that are exceptionally bad or exceptionally good. Thus I tried to ignore the incessant requests for feedback. This morning I got yet another email asking that I complete a survey, so I relented and filled it out. For the most part I rated them with 7s on a 10 point scale. (10 was "truly extraordinary" which by definition is "truly rare"). To me a 7 is "pretty good." I hit submit and before I could read my next email my phone was ringing. They were calling me. To be honest I was creeped out. I had thought my responses would be anonymous. I let it go to voice mail, and they were calling me to "discuss my survey responses." They have now crossed that line I have. I generally only review a business when they have done something exceptional, and now they have done so. They have hounded me to such an extent that they deserve a review and it is not a good one. If you look on their Yelp site you will see that I gave their sales department an exceptionally good review a few years ago.mTherefore, this is not some bias. So here is my review of the service department. I brought my 2015 Jetta Sportswagen in for its routine 20,000 maintenance. While the service was fine it was not as good as I would have received at places that specialize in maintenance. Prior to purchasing this car (which came with the first two scheduled maintenance included in the purchase price) I have always taken my car to a local Mobile One Service center; I still take my partner's car there). They are better in the following ways. they do not require an appointment. Danbury VW does and it took me 8 days after calling before I could get my car serviced. Despite never needing an appointment, I have never spent more than 30 minutes for them to complete the service. At your establishment I waited just short of two hours. Both you and they have car washes; when they wash my car, my mats are steamed, my dash is wiped and my windows are cleaned on both the inside and the outside. You washed the exterior and did a cursory vacuum but my dash had dust left on it, and my rear windows had the same smudges from my dogs noses that I came in with. Both you and they use the same VW check list, but their costs for items are less. Therefore, while you did a fine job; it was not truly extraordinary. What was truly extraordinary is the constant harassment for a review, and what I actually see as a breach of my privacy in not having my survey responses be anonymous. If you spent have as much time servicing cars as you apparently do seeking out surveys, perhaps you could cut your wait time. I want to be clear, you service is fine and your employees are nice people. I blame management. I can only assume there is some assessment protocol that has been implemented which place survey responses before actual quality of work. This is not unique to Danbury VW; recently everyone from the cable guy to the furniture delivery drivers tell you that you will get a survey and "my boss doesn't like 9s any thing less than a 10 will come back and haunt me." Well I can say this. Danbury VW does get a 10 when it comes to harassing a satisfied customer into become a very dissatisfied customer who will spend an hour of his time to write this review. read more

After a tree fell on my 2012 leased Nissan, I decided to buy a used Jetta since I'd owned one before and loved it. Found one here at Danbury VW with low mileage and it looked great...clean carfax so I went to see it. The salesman was very aggressive but I (thought) I was thorough asking a lot of questions about the car and its condition. He assured me it had been completely serviced, that the car was in excellent shape and ready for the road. I asked if everything had been checked including the tires and I looked at them. He again assured me the car had been looked over by the service department and all had been taken care of. I bought the car. After one week one of the tires went flat. I called them and they would do nothing to help with the flat tire, so I had to buy a new tire. I took it to a tire dealer, they copied what was on the car and replaced it. Two months later I decided to buy 2 good all weather tires as the car was slipping coming up to stop signs in the rain and snow. I went to Cosco where they were having a sale. The salesmen checked my tires and informed me the wrong size tires were on the car. The tires on the car are 89H and the weight of this car needs 91H. I asked if that was a problem. He said a big problem, they're not made for the load of this car. If you had a full car you could have a blow out...even without a full car you could have a blow out because this car is too heavy for those tires. I told him about the car slipping in the rain and snow and he said that's because the car is too heavy for these tires. I called Danbury VW again, left a message for the salesman twice with no return call. I then called and left two messages for the manager and never received a return phone call. I contacted corporate who said they'd look into it but finally came back to me with "these are franchises and they won't do anything about the tires." After having the car for 8 months, I had it serviced at another VW dealership in Stamford. I asked, as part of the service, to check the tires. Their service department confirmed what I already knew, the tires on the car are the wrong size and dangerous. At highway speeds I could have a blow out. Again I contacted VW customer service who ultimately did nothing but go back to the dealer who said the same thing...they won't do anything about it. Danbury VW does not tell the truth or stand behind the cars they sell. At least the used cars. Think twice before buying a car from this dealership. They don't tell the truth when selling their cars. Basically, they'll tell you whatever to get the sale. read more

Young (snippy) girl at service desk could not provide a list of what is included in a 10k check up, she did tell us several times, "it's in your manual". Hard to believe the service department can't have a list before you drop $270.00 and explain the charges. Bought my car from certified pre own earlier in the year, had to take it to right to service for service light and alignment, then a second time cause they didn't fix the alignment... then they crashed it, and I had to find out for myself... they repaired the bumper, light, and offered to cover an oil change.... I purchased a 2018 Volkswagen Atlas in April of 2018 from Damaris Beard. Damaris was just great to deal with. The sales manager was also very good. When I went to purchase the SEL Premium model that I wanted it wasn't available anywhere. The sales manager told me if you don't see it here don't worry we can order exactly what you want. He said it may take some time but we will get it. That to me was just great because I didn't have any issues with waiting. I went to the VW Dealership in Pleasantville in Westchester NY and the sales rep that I dealt with told me they only had one and that would be sold regardless if I bought it or not because not many were available at that time. I brought my vehicle in for service and was really impressed with the service there as well. I saw Damaris and we spoke for quite some time. She asked me about the vehicle and spoke to my parents about upcoming vehicles to look out for. When I decide to get my next new Volkswagen I'm going back to DVW and looking for Damaris. Definitely a place to do business with. read more

What a crap hole this place is.... I was in the market for a 2015 GTI, and I got the run-around for almost 2 weeks. I had cash in hand, along with a trade in. They offered me 4 thousands dollars under the VW trade-in value. You're probably thinking, "oh, it must have been in poor condition..." Nope! it was only a year old, in excellent condition. Actually, even for poor condition on Edmunds trade-in value was still higher than what this garbage place offered me. They are a bunch of weaseling, scamming liars. I ended up going to a VW dealer in Albany and got exactly what I wanted. It's unfortunate when dealerships take advantage of people. I completely understand they are business and need to make some money. But they shouldn't be greedy and put their reputation on the line just to make a quick few grand. I will say, I will make it a mission to let everyone I know that is interested in picking up a new VW to stay away from these people. read more

Very poor CS in the service dept. No one ever came out to give me any status after 1.5 hrs. So I asked the cashier to check for me. She went into the service area then came out, sat down and ignored telling me anything. Then when I asked what she found out she said "oh! I was looking for you". BS! I was in front of her the entire time. She completely ignored me. And they were not even busy. They offer the lowest form of CS available - which is the least they can get away with. it's post office mentality. Any positive comments on the service dept have got to come from them or their friends. No way can their interpersonal skills vary that much. read more

I scheduled an oil change appointment, and one of the the employees tried to manipulate me into spending an obscure amount of money on a irrelevant problem. And when I confronted him about how I didn't need that to be done, he brought back my car even more problematic than it was before I dropped my car off. I would NOT recommend this dealership for anyone. This place is a scam and just tries to take your money on unneeded work that doesn't need to be done. read more
