The most basic class is called "Break Down" where the instructor will literally break down the moves of a specific routine. At the Orlando location, Elisa and Renee are musical dance geniuses. Both are accomplished dancers and will totally rock your world with TONS of self-made routines. I have only taken classes from Elisa and Renee, but I know there are a few other great instructors that teach the classes as well. The dances are set to current, catchy and just plain 'ol freaking awesome jams. I'm not lying that it feels like you are IN DA CLUBBBB when the music starts pumping. The classes literally fly by! Her Level 4 dancers are featured over several restaurants in Central Florida. Restaurant owners love her students because of the authenticity. I don't agree with Drea R.'s review. Chances are her perception was off because she is from a rival school. How can you score someone so low without taking a class. Her tone was most likely her accent. Being from Morocco she learned English when she moved to the states. Ilham is someone who has a passion for belly dance. She cares about her students. Nice try "Drea R." But if all middle eastern restaurants hire Her students first over all other schools it is because of skill level and sweet personalities.

Wary of how many belly dance academies exist here in Orlando, I looked online anyway and found Ilham's website. Great website I have to say, easy circulation, simple, and no nonsense. It even said "relaxing environment to learn belly dance." Above the class schedule it read "Please call Ilham before your first class." I called her. To my surprise, she was very rude, and had an incredibly mean tone in her voice, and sounded busy like she did not have time for me. That is a bad sign for a teacher. Even if she didn't have time for me, she could have answered my question: "I've had some belly dance experience, and I'm interested to know, what kind of moves do you normally teach for tonight's class?" (which btw was Level 1 beginner's). Her response was "it's a free class. what do you want to know, it's a free class, just come and see for yourself." Maybe if it was just another day I'd say yeah I don't care I'll go, but this day in particular, I need someone who is a little more personable. Ilham is rude and uncaring for potential students, and I'm really disappointed because i was so excited upon visiting the website and watching a couple of her performance videos. As a performer and belly dancer myself, I have to say that I generally care for each of my students and if they told me they were having a bad day, I'd make that class extra fun. The school is fully integrated with a good mix of students with African-American, Asian, and Caucasian - both Hispanic and non-Hispanic - origins, with families from many socioeconomic backgrounds. The students are treated equally and fairly despite race, color, or creed.. Yes, Miss Becky sometimes can be tough on the girls during dance classes, but dance is a discipline and the girls are expected to behave and follow instructions properly. If poor behavior is allowed during class by a few, then the majority looses out on valuable time and instruction. Perhaps the reviewer's child was one who couldn't behave properly in class or while in the daycare center and needed to be spoken to more often than the others? Or, perhaps the reviewer is a bit overly-sensitive or overwhelmed. At any rate, her review is not a proper reflection of the school and should be disregarded.

They have burst out of the shyness more than I could have hoped for, literally! They both have made lasting friendships, gained confidence & are more disciplined. My oldest started at age 5 & has been going for 2 years now. My youngest started at age 4. I never thought they would actually dance when it was time for the showcases but each & every performance has brought me to tears! Location: off of kirkman rd in a plaza. When you walk in is the directors desk & an small area for seating and a unisex bathroom. Then through the door is the actual studio...wood floors & mirrors. Director: Mrs. India. A former 14k dancer from Bethune Cookman. (I know, I know...even though I'm a rattler...anyhow, lol). This lady has talent & creativity pouring from her! She is stern ;) but she has a huge heart and special kind of love for each child. She & her staff teaches amazing technical skills which shows in the solid performances. The kids definitely have fun, they laugh and they cry...but they are learning important lessons that they can't even fathom right now. My kids love JDT and so do I! Besides dancing JDT has Halloween parties, holiday parties, end of the season get-togethers, and Mrs. India does something special for all her graduating seniors.
