If you haven't been to Dance Trance Orlando, you need to seriously make plans to try it out at least one time! This, my friend, is not your average dance fitness workout... this is an experience in itself! There are different levels you can take. The most basic class is called "Break Down" where the instructor will literally break down the moves of a specific routine. At the Orlando location, Elisa and Renee are musical dance geniuses. Both are accomplished dancers and will totally rock your world with TONS of self-made routines. I have only taken classes from Elisa and Renee, but I know there are a few other great instructors that teach the classes as well. The dances are set to current, catchy and just plain 'ol freaking awesome jams. I'm not lying that it feels like you are IN DA CLUBBBB when the music starts pumping. The classes literally fly by! You have tons of fun, sweat like a PIG and leave with a big smile. I highly encourage anyone to try out a class. Just remember this motto... there are no mistakes, only solos!!! :-) read more

Dance Trance is a great time! I took Cassie's class and smiled through the entire class. High energy, tons of sweating, and fantastic dance moves. Cassie is supremely talented. The music is exactly what you'd want to dance to in a club. The studio is kept dark and is outfitted with neon lights and great speakers. Bonus: there are such good community vibes here. Everyone was incredibly sweet and welcoming. We all chatted and rooted each other on. This is definitely not a "mean girls" studio-- there is such joy here. Try it!! read more

The studio is now called Impact Fitness Studio but offers the same high energy dance fitness classes. No dance experience is needed. There are many different routines, as well as styles of music/dance, and range of difficulty levels, so each class feels like a fresh experience. Also a good mental challenge to learn/remember the choreography. There's nothing else like it! read more

Let's preface this: I have been DYING to go to Dance Trance for a while now. I love dancing, I do hip hop fitness classes, Zumba, swing dancing, anything! So when I saw Dance Trance on my Class Pass app, I jumped at the chance to sign up. First, let's say that the instructor, Lisa, was so welcoming. I didn't realize I signed up for the advanced class, and she said "you're welcome to stay and try it out, or you can come join us at a breakdown or beginners class!" I told her I'd like to stay and try, and I was assured this was a "judgement free zone" and just to have fun with it. So the class starts, and I immediately tell everyone is a dance trance pro! So fun. I was able to pick up on the warm up after one verse/chorus, and was having a blast so far. Then the next song starts. The room is a bit crowded, but I didn't feel like I was in anyone's way (and I'm really conscious of that, ESPECIALLY if I am sucking haha). Then the girl to my right literally shoo'd me away with her hands and said "uh, maybe you should go stand over there..." Wait, what?! Hahaa. Did you really just shoo me away...? So now I'm feeling SUPER uncomfortable and 100% judged. I usually don't care about this stuff, but also hate surrounding myself with negative people, so I just up and left. Lisa- thank you for your warm welcome (all 3 stars are for you, plus the class looked fun), but I hope your regulars start to do the same. I want to come back and try, but I'm not sure I will. Also, not sure what that awful smell was in the studio, but the AC vent above me looked super moldy/dirty, so maybe it was that. And just a tip - they don't have any water fountains or coolers, so bring your own, or purchase a bottle from them for $1. :) read more

Unless I'm running or playing softball, I'm not one to exercise. Weights and yoga and pilates all bore me. So when a friend mentioned Dance Trance, I jumped at the chance. Thankfully, the first class is free. Score! I checked out the beginners class and was pleasantly surprised. The routines are broken down for you but are still slightly difficult (in a good way---this wasn't an easy stereotypical gym dance class). I loved it! The instructors were great and answered everyone's questions. There were a variety of levels in the class, so I didn't feel like I stuck out like a sore thumb to do my inability to keep rhythm. There are also 2 other class, and intermediate class and the actual Dance Trance class (where the dances are just done the whole class and no break down is given). I immediately signed up for a package! I can't commit to every week, but you can bet that I'll be there when my schedule's open! read more

This is like Cardio Crack- once you start you can't stop! I actually did this religiously in Jacksonville, and when I moved here three years ago, was surprised to find a city like Orlando had nothing comparable to offer. Imagine my delight when a studio opened right in my backyard! This class has helped me get back into shape and challenges me each time I come. The program offers two types of classes, regular (which is nonstop dancing for a full hour- or hour and a half on Saturdays) and breakdown. The breakdown class is excellent for beginners who would feel more comfortable learning the routines before jumping in. In addition, the studio offers supplemental classes, such as boot camp and cardio kickboxing. Pricing varies depending on the membership level you choose. It seems there are always specials offered, and the first class is free, so it is definitely worth checking out if you like to dance and burn calories. This works for all fitness levels- you can always go lower or jump higher to get more out of the workout. Or, if you are trying to take it easy, you can adjust the intensity to accommodate. I was training for a half marathon a couple of months ago, so I switched to the breakdown classes, to give my shins a bit of a break. One last thing bit of advice for Newbies.: if you come in and are overwhelmed, don't be. The more you come the better you get. I drive by Dance Trance all the time, and have been intrigued for months. I finally did a little research and thought the idea of "dance fitness" sounded like a blast. I ended-up making the time to go last night (dragging some co-workers along with me) and had an absolutely great time! And boy did I get a workout in addition to having fun! One thing I WILL mention to those who are thinking of going for the first time: the "learning" classes are Mondays, and Wednesdays--the night I chose to go--are the nights where the dance steps are actually carried out. It doesn't matter what night you go, just be aware that if you go on a Wednesday you may be the only person who doesn't know the moves (like me)! I will definitely be going back to Dance Trance! read more

Tried a class for first time on Saturday morning as a former high school and college dance team experienced dancer. The good: Awesome community vibe, cool studio setting, fun music and dance moves, great cardio workout. I felt like I found a really cool new place to workout and dance as an adult, which is rare. They've found a niche of really great dancing for people that used to dance. Plenty of parking, cubby storage, really really nice welcome from the teacher, etc. The bad: The website description of the Saturday class should really recommend that you NOT try this class first. All of the moves are already taught from previous classes - there's no instruction or guidance in this particular class. So for me, it was really uncomfortable, being the only one not knowing the steps. Someone told me "well you came to the advanced class" - but it was not clear on the website :( So it was a bit of a wasted $20 single class fee. I discreetly left 30 minutes early because I was just flailing around in corner LOL. The steps would have been easy enough - and FUN - to do had I known them. Just some simple wording on the site would greatly help! There are actually other class descriptions that DO call out which other ones are not maybe the best choice for starting, but not this Saturday AM one. Overall: I loved it and I will be back.....but only for the Breakdown classes so I'll have the same chance of learning the steps as everyone else :) Very cool place, I can't wait to start going more and being "in the know" on the combinations. :) read more

I heard about this place from the massage therapist I went to last week, and decided to give it a shot. Here's the thing, I love dancing. Usually though, I'm pretty tipsy, in a dark club, with lots of smoke machines and other people crowding on the dance floor. Life, you know... keeps on rolling and I don't get out to the clubs much anymore. So enter Dance Trance Fitness. Each week you learn a new routine, they have 'break down' classes where they teach it, step by step, and full classes where you just do the routine itself. I went to a break down class because well... while I like to dance, I'm not actually very good at it. Some of the routines were harder than others (how do you spin around so many times and not get dizzy? This I would like to know) but it all was alot of fun. I really enjoyed it, and was (eventually) able to just get over how I may have looked and just had fun. The first class is free, after that it's $12/class or $90 for unlimited for the month. There's also a 10 class\6 month package but I don't remember the exact pricing. Either way, check it out at least once. It's free, fun, and a great way to get some exercise in! read more

For years I had been looking for a dance studio where I could get in shape while dancing to hip hop & modern music. It's been four years since I found Dance Trance Orlando and I haven't looked back. From day one I was hooked! It's like dancing in a club with awesome music, high-energy instructors, and even dance-floor lighting! I lost 20 pounds my first year, danced my way through my entire pregnancy, boogied my baby weight off and now as a mom of toddler twins it is my place of refuge! DTO offers different levels of classes for everyone. There is a beginner one, where you are taught one routine throughout the class. Then there's Breakdown, which you learn three routines at a slightly faster pace. Finally, there's Dance Trance. This is where you dance your heart out for the entire hour to new and old routines. They roll out a "new roo" a few times a month to add to the mix so it always keeps things fresh and exciting. For those of you who feel a bit intimidated you can put your mind at ease. Everyone is super friendly and NO ONE will be watching you, as they are all looking in the mirror or at the instructor, so it is totally a judgement-free zone! If you are new to dance instruction I would recommend trying a beginner class first but also check out Dance Trance class to see what it's about. For those like me who were born to dance (though I'm in no way technically skilled!) I suggest going to Breakdown and also jumping into a few regular Dance Trance classes. I started by going to those and danced in the back. I feel like this helped me learn a lot more dances at a faster rate and before long I was moving up to the front as my confidence grew. Dance Trance kicked my butt... and I loved it!! I tried it for the first time this week and the owner Elisa (I think that's how you spell it) was amazing! I took the Breakdown class, which is for newbies so she shows you the routines step-by-step. But don't think that because you're learning the routines slowly that it's not going to be a great workout because after you go thru each one once, you do it at least twice in regular time! For someone that has two left feet, I found the class to actually be "followable" because she shows you what to do and the girls that have been attending the classes longer are also super helpful! If you're afraid to go because you don't wanna look like a fool, get over it and get your booty there! You'll have a blast, make some new friends, and blast a billion calories too! I've never been a fan of gyms mainly because I found it somewhat boring and too repetitive for my taste. I did, however, wanted to be fit so I decided to try out Dance Trance. Dance Trance is the first fitness I've been able to stick with long term; you trick your body into getting a great workout. You're too busy having fun and thinking about the steps to realize an hour of mucho-sweaty has passed. The staff are super friendly and helpful, as are the regular girls. Dance Trance is really like a family that's always willing to accept new members with open arms. Slight detriment is that there's only one location, so if you're on the other side of town (like me) it's a bit of a haul to get there and back. Also, I wish there were more class times available (but who doesn't? But if I really expected to have my workouts cater to my schedule i would join a big gym or something). Dance Trance is fun and addictive- learning the routines is so fun. When I first started last December I "collected" them (Ok, I have 3 routines down, ok now I have 5....) Give it a shot! For first timers I'd probably recommend a beginner or breakdown class, the full-fledged classes are kind of rough on first timers (that was my first experience, I think i'm reasonably good at picking up choreography and it could have been discouraging that first time if not for how fun and encouraging everyone there is). read more

Elisa DeFoe and Renee Korte are two talented, funky, friendly, dance gurus and College Park is so lucky to have Dance Trance! The popularity of the classes speak to Elisa and Renee's teaching talent, great energy and enthusiasm. I am in good shape thanks to the challenging mind/body workout cardio dancing offers. Dance Trance offers more involved, relevant choreography than Zumba classes and when a class has mastered a particular dance it's like watching a music video on TV. It's wonderful to see women of various ages and stages of life drop it like it's hot. It's also awesome to see Elisa and Renee's creativity in developing new dance routines each week and their ability to remember the vast catalogue of dances they've taught over the past few years. It doesn't matter your skill level with dance. If you like to dance to hip hop and Top 40 songs you will have fun and burn a ton of calories. Elisa and Renee are happy to share their tricks with making moves look cool and are happy to answer questions about how to perform a move safely and with style! If you are just starting out consider a beginner class or breakdown class where the dances are taught with detailed explanation and demonstration. Some routines are easier and some offer more of a mental challenge which makes each class unique. Dance Trance is an amazing way to exercise. I hate the gym- only way I go is if someone makes me and I am complaining the entire time. I discovered Dance Trance and now I am addicted. I am a fairly new student- only involved for the last 2 weeks or so- but I find myself going 3-4x a week because it is fun! You can not beat exercise that is fun and exciting. In addition the ladies that run the program in Orlando are beyond amazing due to their kindness and love for music and dance! Elisa and Renee bring you a fun workout with creative choreography, non-repetitive movies, and enough energy to shut down the adorable College Park neighborhood this gem sits in. I never used to workout until I started coming to Dance Trance, and this place truly changed my life. I am not in the middle of a career change so I can help others pursue an active healthy life - I don't think this passion would have been ignited in me if it wasn't for the warm welcome I got at Dance Trance way back when I started going. Like I said, Elisa and Renee are the tip of the iceberg. All the women who frequent this place are kind, welcoming, sweet, fun, smart, amazing women! It doesn't matter if you've been here a hundred times or never before, we all dance like a family and we all have an amazing time together. You might not know everything about everyone here, but if you ever need anything, you can turn to your Dance Trance family. That might be the best part. The class schedule is great, whether you work a 9-5 like me or not, you can make it to at least a few sessions a week, and you'll always look forward to it. The girls also hold workshops and events so you can learn new techniques (bellydancing!) and get a great workout in on top of the awesome schedule they keep up every week. I never see anyone leave this place unhappy, or beat down, or worse for the wear. This is the place to go if you want your body to look amazing, yes, but it's also a place to build confidence, find yourself, get some alone time from your man or your kids, keep your sanity, drink wine with your friends, learn new dance moves, and make a new group of friends. This dance studio is very unique and makes you wanna come back again once you visit there. Even though you are working out, their classes don't make you think so because classes are sooooo fun! There are mirrors all over the the places. When they do routines, they dim the light so you look like you are in a dance club. Oh yeah and the instructor is sooo loving. This is a great workout! It is a very functional form of excercise, because it isn't repetitively using only one muscle group, like running or cycling. In each class you bend and twist and squat and move your body in so many ways. The dances can seem daunting to a first timer, but the more you go, the more addicted you get! read more

The day after my first Dance Trance Orlando class I received a call from the owner, Elisa, as I had left her a voicemail the day before. When she called, I let her know that I didn't have any questions - I was obsessed and would be back that night. Since that night, I have been to Dance Trance about three to five days a week for over two years! Dance Trance is such an incredible workout and I would recommend anyone who is looking for an alternative to their gym routine take a class ASAP. The environment at Dance Trance is laid back and fun--it is refreshing in comparison to other drop-in workout classes around town. The choreography is always changing and the music they use is AWESOME. Elisa and Renee are always challenging students with creative choreography that is updated weekly. If you have never taken a class before, I would recommend the beginners classes. If you have never taken a class before, but grew up taking dance classes, I think you would be fine with breakdown classes.
