It's a fantastic store that my wife and I took our two daughters in to get a gift before they left North Carolina for our home. Walk around the entire store had a Lotta good gifts lotta good toys from ages zero all the way up until adulthood it had all kinds of gifts sweet people that own the place they are very nice very knowledgeable and very helpful. The store was really neat on the inside I had a good time walking around taking pictures and my daughters really enjoyed their gifts that we got them. The best toy store in Asheville! I absolutely adore dancing bear and I have been going there since I was a kid. I'm in my twenties now and I still love to stop by there to grab toys for friends and family (and sometimes for myself if i'm being honest). They have an amazing selection of toys and the staff are some of the nicest people ever. If you are a fan of jellycats or calico critters they have so many! They also recently started selling sonny angels which have been great gifts. The atmosphere of the store is so cute and I love that there is always parking available. I also appreciate that they do free gift wrapping! Overall It's just a great place!! read more

Dancing bear toys is the first place I go if I need a gift for a child of any age. Inside you can find a child friendly environment and a kind and caring staff. Dancing bear carries a wide selection of toys that promote imagination and creativity. Almost every toy found within has been picked because it allows a child to craft their own story or create there own game. If you are a complete klutz of an aunt or uncle and think children are terrifying, the staff will help you, they'll point you in the direction of something that is appropriate for your niece or nephew. I personally learned that a set of wooden cars was probably more appropriate for my 1 and half year old nephew than the super sweat science experiments I wanted to get him. Final thought: Dancing bear also stocks the IAmElemental action figure line, which pretty much makes them awesome, and if you knew what these were without looking them up you can consider yourself awesome too. read more

Took my 6 year old grandson shopping at the Dancing Bear. Great experience for both of us! Everyone was knowledgeable, helpful and interested. The entire staff (three people on site) were more like friendly tour guides than salespeople. Could not have asked for better attention. As an aside ... the restroom facilities were a pleasant surprise. Hadn't really thought about what to expect. Such a wonderful welcome to see an immaculate, well appointed and well stocked facility. Very rude staff... Gov Cooper has said face shields are acceptable... I have breathing issues but was told I had to have a cloth mask that covered my nose... My shield covers my noise... I will never shop at this store again... As I walked back to my car the lady snidely said we have a website and curbside pickup....I replied no thank you I will NOT be shopping here again!! This is a really nice independently owned toy store. They've got those good, creative toys and "typical" toys too. The staff is over-the-top nice and welcoming - but not weird and in your business. I'm pretty sure that I remember having some sort of mixed drink there when they had a birthday party for themselves. They constantly having little events or sending out coupons. read more

Great store, fun and interesting toys and a great selection of stuffed animals. Lot of games and educational items such as science kits. I love the bins with the small, inexpensive stuff like erasers, superballs, things like that. Friendly, helpful staff. They were extremely tolerant of my daughter and her friend scooting around on the ride-ons (I'd asked if it was OK for them to do so for a short while).
