The barista tried their best to find a way to charge me the most they could for 4 shots of espresso over ice - $5.35 each, when it should have been $3.45 each. I asked for two 16oz iced americanos with extra ice, no water, and an extra shot of espresso in each. The cashier suggested I order the 20oz because it already comes with 4 shots. I said that's a good idea, but asked if they can put it in the 16oz cup because I don't need such a large cup for 4 shots of espresso over ice. The cost for each would have been $3.45. Then the Barista said I'm not allowed to order an iced americano with no water (first time I've ever heard that at any coffee shop). Rather, I have to order a "Doppio over ice" with two extra shots and they can put it in the 16oz cup. I said, ok whatever you need to do to ring up my iced americanos. After I left and checked the receipt it costs $3.25 for the doppio, plus $1.05 for each of the two extra shots, so the total for each came out to $5.35 - $11.70 for both. Very odd practice to try to charge the customer as much as you possibly can for something. I've been coming to Dancing Goats since the one on North and Glen Iris opened back in ~2013, and this midtown location has been nothing but weird. The other day there was a production studio filming at 8am so they closed the shop. The next day I told the employees how sad it was to come and get turned away, and they told me customers who got turned away were supposed to get gift cards. I'm thinking.... So now I know I was supposed to get a gift card and you're standing there still not giving me one? Very weird! Please get it together, Dancing Goats. read more

My only complaint is that the tea was very hot and I had to wait 10 minutes before I could drink it. ------ATMOSPHERE------ It is located across from the Midtown Marta Station. There are plenty of seats indoors and outdoors along with tables and counters in front of the windows. There are outlets everywhere. I was there from 12 pm to 4 pm and there were always empty spaces even though it is finals season for Georgia Tech. There were plenty of students but also many older folks conducting business meetings and completing work as well. Dancing Goat's new (Midtown) location -- one I prefer over their original one at Ponce City Market -- easily competes well with other coffee shops in Midtown. Why? Well, they cater to those mobile warriors -- like me -- thanks to plentiful outlets, fantastic coffee, a relaxing ambiance, and wifi stronger than the dude at my gym who deadlifts 600lbs. In fact, I have camped out there, for several hours and slayed my task lists without mercy. More details: ***** I. LOCATION & PARKING: Unfortunately, free parking is not available in the area, but the street this location resides on has affordable metered spots. (Download the ParkMobile app beforehand.) I've been there during peak hours and finding one has never been an issue. II. COFFEE & FOOD: Like all coffee shops, they have Americanos, cappuccinos, etc... I had a 20oz cold brew, and I loved it. It's refreshing, bold, and smooth. I could drink this every day. Regarding their bites, they have mini donuts to croissants and bagels. Ya know -- your typical coffee shop food fare. I ate their mini donut and jalapeno bagel, and they tasted fine. Nothing to rave about, but nothing to deter me from camping out there for several hours while I indulge on carbs. III. SERVICE: Friendly staff. I've never had a problem with anyone there. IV. AMBIENCE & DECOR: They have two or three spots for bar seating, vinyl chairs (with plugs in-between the seats), and plenty of two-four person tables. I think some of their chairs feel like they stole them out of Georgia Tech -- because they're not the most comfortable -- but I'm picking short hairs here. They also play the music at a comfortable volume, and Brazillian jazz is my favorite. So I'm a bit biased here. (Shout out to Bebel Gilberto.) V. PRICES: Prices don't differ much from any other higher-end coffee shop. VI. OVERALL: Dancing Goats is a fantastic coffee shop, for those on the way to work or looking to camp out for hours on end. Per usual, this review is based on my go-to order at every new coffee shop I visit: cold brew. (TL;DR at bottom) A bit of a walk from GT's campus, Dancing Goats Coffee Bar lies right outside of the Midtown MARTA station. (Note: can take the unreliable Tech Trolley) Yet despite its competitive prices, the quality of its drinks combined with its average ambiance is not enough to warrant the extra walk, especially when compared to similarly "higher end" coffee shops in the area. There are many features I do enjoy about this location. For starters, the location has its own separate gift shop on the right hand side, selling coffee beans, Chemex's, shirts, and more. Not on the same level as say Chrome Yellow, but still a plus. The seating both indoors and outdoors create a great balance especially when you want to work outside on a nice day. I just wish there was a bit more sun coming from the outdoor seating. The plethora of outlets combined with the scattered seating arrangements and mediocre cushioning bearable to work in. The ambient lighting and soft jazzish? music create a prosaic work environment. The first thing I noticed was that the baristas were using Chemex. As a result, a certain bias entered my mind. I was expecting some good things. The 20oz cold brew that I ordered was what I would describe as better than Starbucks. It is definitely refreshing and smooth, great for hot days. Its chocolaty taste created a sweeter taste, yet I would not detail it as floral or fruity. Notably, there was no watery taste, though it had a bit of an acidic aftertaste to me, a huge minus for me. For the price of 3.35ish, 100% better than sbux. At the price, definitely comparable to higher end coffee shops if not for the acidic aftertaste. As a note on the rating, in actuality, I would rate a 3.5 if possible. Unfortunately, I felt that this coffee shop was more on the "forget about it", just gave me an "eh" vibe [maybe because I had to walk so far from campus]. Also, my coffee came in a cup with a logo of Batdorf and Bronson, which upon research learned it was the parent company. A bit confusing initially. TL;DR This broke coffee loving college kid will probably not visit again in the near future when necessary due to far walk, average taste, but a bit subaverage prices (at least for coldbrew). Update: After trying a Large $2.50ish Jasmine Green Tea, I can say for certain the prices definitely match the quality. Happy median between chain and artisans. read more

This was the smoothest coffee I've had in such a long time. Their service was quick and friendly, and while they did not have indoor seating, their outdoor patio with large chairs was a perfect place to sit and sip with my friends. They agreed that Dancing Goats had the best tasting coffee they'd had in a while. Unlike some chain coffee spots, this one didn't have a bitter taste or immediately send my stomach into a frenzy. They said there is tie ups for pet dogs, but there is no sign and the employee did not show me. It would of been helpful if the employee would of approached the situation in a kind manner and showed me where the dog tie ups were instead of just saying there is a "service animal only" sign -which unfortunately I didn't see. I was in the wrong for bringing my dog in, but it was an honest mistake (many coffee shops allow dogs when you are getting a to-go order) and could of been handled in a kinder manner. I don't think I will be going back even though I walk by multiple times a day. read more

This lavender infused coffee with whipped cream on top is amazing! It's called The Roebuck and the only thing they could improve its selling it on a larger size. Service is great here and the location is super convenient, with seating areas inside and outside. They claim to validate parking for up to two hours, but the machine told me there was no balance in their validation, and had to pay $16! Much more than what I paid for the coffees inside. Coffee is great but I will not come back here again unless it's walking. read more

I love the new Dancing Goats space in midtown! There's ample parking in the attached parking deck, it's right in the heart of midtown, and the interior/exterior decorations stay true to Dancing Goats eclectic and vibrant style. As always, Dancing Goats serves delicious coffee, although the price tends to be steeper (in my opinion) than other comparable coffee shops. The service also isn't quite as personable or friendly as, say, Condesa Coffee or Taproom Coffee. Even still, it's a nice little addition to midtown and a good meeting point for business or pleasure. read more

This is a stellar addition to Midtown as far as high-quality and locally-operated coffee shops go, the area encompassing Tenth, Peachtree, West Peachtree, and so on being known for the concentration of walkable businesses nearby. Prior to this Dancing Goats outpost opening, there were few options for great coffee within walking distance; so I'm very happy to welcome them to the neighborhood! The usual DG hallmarks are replicated at this location as well, with tasty drinks, plentiful seating, and a welcoming atmosphere in abundance. You can also buy wearable merchandise and Batdorf & Bronson coffee by the bag! My usual order, an iced caramel latte, is always consistent and refreshing; and I'm sure this will only become moreso with the impending summer heat. read more

Conveniently located in Midtown right by the Marta station, this is a great spot for working or studying during the day. I've been finding that Starbucks is really loud these days, so appreciate the slower pace here. There is outdoor seating where it seemed more people were sitting for chatting, leaving us worker bees to work in peace inside. There are some high top counters (with stools), which is nice for those that are used to a standing desk. If you bring your own mug you get 25 cents off AND a free refill on your coffee! read more

Stopped in here for an afternoon pick me up! I ordered my standard americano. The coffee was good, but nothing amazing. The shop was pretty congested with lots of people standing around waiting for drinks or waiting for a table. It seemed like a good place to work if you could snag a seat, but on this Friday at 4 PM there weren't many open seats. The service was good and the barista was super helpful and responsive when I told her the cream was out. She quickly replaced the cream and was really nice and friendly. My go to is their sugar free raspberry latte but I've had their regular latte before too and it's yummy and almost creamy. I would recommend this place to study or to have a sit down with a friend. For a $7 cup of chai, warm greetings at the door could be better served. The Buckhead location does a better job making customers feel welcomed. Although conveniently located, a "Keep pets off" sign may be in order for the outdoor seating in front of the venue, sitting near spaces where pets are allowed to leave urine and feces ruins the outdoor seating experience, gross. A more solid and secured wifi network should be offered for guests as well. read more

These barista was very sympathetic to me after I ducked in here to get away from the crazy guy who started beating up on me on out in front of the Indigo. He thought it was the guy they call "The Slapper" but my guy was more of a puncher. They still charged me for my latte - which was excellent as always - but I understand they have a business to run and they'd probably go broke if they comped a coffee to everyone who got mugged out front. Dancing Goats in Midtown is one of my favorite places to study in Atlanta. It can get a little crowded at times, but depending on the time of day/day of the week, it's pretty easy to grab a seat or a table to set your stuff at get to work. There's a general hum of conversation that I'm sure can get pretty loud depending on the day, but if you like white noise, I think it should be fine. This particular site is really convenient to access because it's right across a MARTA stop, but driving here is no problem either because there's ample street parking right outside. It's not a particularly busy street either (at least the times I've gone), so even a nervous driver/parker like me probably won't have an issue parking or making complicated U-turns to grab a spot. As far as coffee goes, I'm not the most discerning drinker. The coffee here is just as good as coffee anywhere, and I normally just get a basic coffee as a thing to sip on as I study. Maybe if the company wasn't pumping dollars into their outdated branding, they could use the funds to work on a better recipe, hire better roasters, and pay them more. When I asked about it the high-strung manager said it's because people order the drink and then use their cream to fill the cup. So I'm paying for someone else's issue. Do not go to dancing goat. This has quickly become my favorite coffee bar in midtown, I wake up thinking about their almond milk lattes! The coffee is super high quality and roasted to perfection, while the almond milk is just right and doesn't have a strange taste like other familiar coffee shops do. I've heard heard their caramel latte is great as well. I do wish they had a larger quick meal selection but that won't ever stop me from getting their delicious coffee.
