June 26: while out on the water my steering cable broke…read more July 1: I took the boat to Petersen Marine and was told that it would be 6 days to look at the boat....(ok) July 6: Not having heard from this company I called to get a status on my boat and was told that the part had been ordered and the repair should be complete soon. July 12: Having heard nothing back from this company I went down and stumbled upon 3 men in the service desk area, none of which were actually working on any boat, chatting as though they had no care in the world; so I verbally inquired where they were at in completing my repairs. I was then told that "I was just about to call you" they would have to order the cable (???) and the labor would be 4 hours and do they have the go-ahead to order the part (???? I thought we had this discussion a week ago, but whatever) I agreed. They indicated the cable would be at the shop in 3 days. July 17: Hearing no word regarding my boat I called them, yet again. Petersen Marine said the part had arrived and they were getting ready to pull the boat into the shop and should be able to start on it that night. July 18: At noon, I drove to the company and asked where they were at with the repairs. I was then informed that he hadn't even started on it and the boat was STILL parked out back. I bought cable from them as a 4 hour repair has now turned into almost 3 weeks. I have taken my boat to another marine mechanic who has said to have this complete in 4 days. Apparently they did not need my business as the only response I got as I was removing my boat was "oh well we got behind"; then they walked off leaving me with my boat in pieces (they had removed panels and other stuff looking for......something other than the broken cable I suppose) I WILL NOT RECOMMEND PETERSEN MARINE FOR ANY REASON!!! Please consider all options before going to them, and then reconsider if necessary. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO MY ENEMIES!!!

I was unemployed at the time with no money, the boat motor was my retired dad's who was trying to pay some medical bills. We could have sold the motor with a diagnostic as is, I had to borrow money from family members to get it out. I question it even needed most of the work done as other than not being run for a few years, it had been meticulous winterized and cared for since new. Complaining to management when picked up got me nothing but deadpan and a sour look. We now use Dick's marine in Layton for all our needs. At least no deadpan, sour looks and flippant attitudes.

Causey Reservoir is one of my favorite places to go paddle boarding in Utah! I love this reservoir…read moreso much, it's so beautiful. No motorized boats are allowed on this reservoir, so it's the perfect place to kayak, canoe, paddle board, or just bring a floaty and float around. There's also a bunch of cliff jumping. There's no beach, so the main activity here is being in the water. The water is a beautiful color, the scenery is gorgeous. I just love this place so much! I would definitely recommend getting here early, especially on the weekend, as the parking lot fills up quickly, and the reservoir gets crowded. We got here around 9am and it was the perfect time. By the time we left around 1pm, the parking lot was completely full and there were a ton of people out on the reservoir. Even with the volume of people on the water, it never feels too crowded. There's no overnight camping here, and it's completely free to access this reservoir, which is one of the reasons its so popular. A beautiful place to spend the day!

Critical: Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, Value…read moreScrewed and assaulted by dicks boat shop owner! Plus scam alert! I'm a 100 % disabled Marine Corps veteran. Please heed my warning I always tell the truth Even if I had done something wrong I would tell on my self. It's a honor thing. motor ran well when dropped off. Said they did work that they didn't do, And I have documentation to prove it was done just over a month before they received it for a sticky Handel problem. Brought a motor in for a Handel adjustment cause it was just a little stiff. The whole thing was freshly rebuilt by a engine shop a little over a month before I dropped it off with only 30 min of usage during that time. It ran well just has a stiff throttle Handel. I was never called to be told the problem. A little over three weeks later I called and was told it was a follower and a fuel pump due to being very worn. I just had a new fuel pump insatelled carburator rebuilt and tuned up. And new lines put in witch I have paid bills for. They said they would look deeper into and call me back Another week and a half goes by. They never called me back. I called them and they told me they the newly rebuilt carburator was broken and they tried to GLUE it . Also told me they did all the work that was just done by the engine shop! I went in to talk to them per their request. I was taken into the back. Where they completely Tron down my carb and half the intake with out any other approval . Then they told me that they had found the problem a broken carburator part witch they tried to glue back together. I told them they where liars and cheats They broke parts torn things apart and glued things all with out any notification. I told them I was taking what was left of my things and I was going to leave. I went to the motor and started to unhook it from the stand. Then the owner ran over grabbed the motor and me as I was trying to pick it up and turn around to leave. Then I was hit repeatedly with and engine stand Cutting my hand and made a dark bruise on my leg. I tried walking to my car with my motor and he began pushing and hitting me leaving several large scraps a cut and more bruises and at times almost knocking me over while carrying my heavy motor. I finally made to my car after being hit about 20 times and shoved and pushed as I was carrying my property out of their place leaving multiple scraps cuts and bruises. As I was loading it in my car they ran out with a gun case and started to unzip it. Super scary!! I then jumped in my car a left as fast as fast as I could drove to the police station and made a police report. Stay away from this place. They lie cheat and steal. Say the did work they didn't do and say things are broken that where not. I urge you to look at the other one star reviews. There is a history or lieing agrassive actions And Charging for work they didn't do over and over. They normally tear down motors with out permission and the try to force the customer to pay or leave there property or take it in parts because they won't put it back together unless you pay them to. Horrible horrible place. I will never return and you should steer clear! Charges are currently under review by the District attorney

I'll update my review for clarity. I took my boat in to be worked on. The OB seemed like it was misfiring. A couple weeks later they said they found a bad gasket and replaced it. Took it out and it had the ignition problem still. Took it back to Dicks and the said the we're sorry and would move me to the top of the list and make it right. After 3 weeks of hearing nothing I called and asked the status. I was told they are looking at it. I said I would just come and pick it up. I was frustrated and boating season was about over. So, when I got there they told me my boat was in their outdoor storage lot a few blocks away. They hadn't looked at it at all. I wasn't moved to the top of the list. When I got to the lot my boat was full of leaves from the trees. It had obviously been sitting there since day one. Forgot to add. They charged me $800 to fix the gasket and didn't fix the problem I brought it in for. Pathetic.
