I thought it was the shield around my doughnut and I still heard it ultimately leading me to stop there and see if it was the metal dust shield by rotor in the back causing the ratting noise as I just installed new bearings and they can get bent sometimes knocking at the rotors. Unfortunately that was not the issue and I had no hardware on my rear brakes which they said they could put some on my car and I said ok because I needed to make it back to michigan and I was unaware my brake pads were loose. They installed odd hardware on my vehicle ultimately causing my vehicle to almost engulf into flames as I was only 10 mins from the shop on the highway. I smelt an immediate burning smell that got stronger and stronger in my cabin when i noticed something was wrong. I immediately pulled over and my rear back tires were smoking where they installed the "hardware" for my car. I watched the technician "Farris" shave down my brake pad on both sides about 4-5 times for 20-25 seconds which was odd to me because if you have the correct hardware for my vehicle you do not need to shave down my brake pads to get them to fit into something meaning the parts were not meant for the brakes I had on my vehicle. I called the store and tried to speak to the technician who worked on my car (farris) and he became super argumentative when expressed that my car was damaged in his shop. My car did not smoke prior , my brake pads and rotors were brand new just got them not even a month ago and from the hardware he put on my car caused my rotors to turn blue in the back basically giving my rotors hot spots. I tried to express frustration as i was stuck on the side of the road for THREE hours and there only resolution was to 1.bring my vehicle back in and they can take the hardware off and I can go on my way with faulty brakes or 2. I can bring the car back in for them to fix a pin on my back left side that was seized and replace my right back caliper. Hardware for brake pads have nothing to do with my rotors as that is how they states they gauged what hardware to buy, it goes based on my caliper and brake pads because the hardware has to fit my caliper (which it didn't) and fit the brake pads which it also did not causing Farris to have to shave my brake pads to get them to fit. Overall, zayne, Jack, and farris tried to shift blame from the fact they damaged my car by causing my brakes to seize against my rotors clamping them causing extreme heat / friction as my car did not smoke before i came in driving it with the ONE seized pin on my left and me needing to replace my right caliper. Then when I asked they stated "well it's smoking because you have a seized pin on your left rear" and I said "ok it is smoking bilaterally in my rear" and then they responded "oh well there's a caliper that needs to be replaced" and i said ok but they did not smoke or give my issues as i was replacing them. I would not recommend taking your car hear as they are super shady and condescending, they tried to make the situation smaller than what it was and speak to me like I was incompetent because I am a woman. I know about cars and I know my car . Human errors occur but when there is a lack of accountability for said error that's when issues arise because my caliper and seized pin would not have caused my car to smoke and have my rotors on FIRE. My brake pads were damaged and you could see spots where my brake pad clamped onto my rotor from whatever hardware they installed causing it to be stuck at the bottom and loose on the top in there hardware. So they reached out stating they put the right hardware on my car and that different brakes don't take a specific hardware which is a lie all brake pads are different depending on your car, brake pads, and size of your calipers. Don't take your car here

When you own an old car, you'd better know a good mechanic…read more Being the new owner of a Toyota Tercel, 1987 edition I needed a few things on a regular basis. Oil changes, brake jobs and the occasional major repair. I discovered that my wheel bearing on the left side had gone wonky. Being that I had the car for a month and needed my job, I looked all over Toledo for a mechanic who was both competent and cheap. Sometimes the two go together, and sometimes the gulf between them is the distance between Earth and Pluto. Not in this case. I was in charge of the cab's maintenance. I would find a good shop and the boss would cut me a check for the bill, or usually reimburse me for what I had spent. Kyles became the shop of choice simply because he did great work, got the cab back on the road in a timely manner, and didn't overcharge simply because I had a cab. So I figured if he could do for the cab, he could do for my car. I brought the Doodlebug in and was told that I would be better off junking it. I retorted it was a Toyota with only 118,000 miles on it.. Hardly a used car since a similar version belonging to my friend Steve had attained 989,000 miles and the only reason he got rid of his was because the body fell off the chassis. I intended to eclipse that. I told them money was no object and to fix it. Long story short, 3 days later it was running again like a new car and my wallet was lighter by only 600 dollars. Instead of replacing the bearing they had to replace the whole rear end, which was a bonus for me. My car ran great and I used it for many more years beyond that. The car has been retired because it threw a rod in a fit of pique, but I will always take my cars to Kyles simply because he is one guy who is a decent mechanic, and will never overcharge you.

Tried to sell me things I didn't need before the car was ever looked at. Was supposed to do testing and didn't do it. Just sprayed on lubricant and never even took anything apart. Charged me for something I could have done with product from Autozone. The car ended up breaking down and having to go to another mechanic 2 days after being here. The bolts were still rusted into place, so I KNOW he did nothing under the hood but spray some product on parts. Acted surprised when I wasn't paying cash and muttered "I wish I would have known" like he's cooking his books. Avoid this place. If the owner is there he will rip you off.

I was about a mile away from Tuffy and when I called them, they offered to come jump me and get me to the shop for free. They made sure it was the alternator, quoted me a fair price and got it done in just a couple of hours. I was able to pick up my truck on my lunch break. While I hope my truck stays strong, when it needs work I'll take it here.

Approximately 10 minutes later he asked for all my info (name, address, phone#, email) and gave a price-indicating they were finished with the oil change. I asked if the Yelp check-in coupon could be used, but he stated they already changed the oil with all synthetic and the coupon was for half-and-half. I didn't feel he was being rude in any way, I just wish there was more dialog and that I had a choice. Overall, it was a decent straight-no chaser experience.
