I really struggled with this rating as I hate to ding small businesses and always try to find a positive angle. But when you only do one thing and that thing turns out to be significantly sub par, I think it deserves comment. I tried the good old American standard apple pie. I truly cannot understand the high ratings, has no one ever had good homemade pie?? I was expecting so much more. The outter crust was-without exaggeration, thick, hard and (risking broken teeth to try) and flavorless unless you like the sugar sprinkle on it. I needed a serrated knife just to make a dent to cut. The "9 inch" pie ends up being an actual 7 inch pie with filling. The crust is so thick and doubled it goes in 2 inches of the circumference of the pie and is over 1 3/4 inch thick and there isn't anything flaky, melt in your mouth anywhere in this pie. The fillings were fair-nothing outstanding- but brought the one star rating up a notch. My review is based on the berry crumble pie that I bought to go. Long story short - I was very disappointed by the pie. The slice though generous was not delicious per se. It was ordinary and were it not for the vanilla ice cream I had on the side this pie would have been hard to swallow. It was dry and some of the berries were 'grainy.' The texture wasnt great and the overall flavor was just ok. Certainly not dangerously delicious. Walked by the store and the lady did a double take and demanded we go in to give it a try. Seemed to have a variety of hearty and desert pies. We went with the Oreo pie with a vanilla custard and a drizzle of maple syrup. Man was it good. Really enjoyed the thicker crust, allowed for easy eating and it wasn't dry. First time here. Ordered the Baltimore bomb, since this is Baltimore. Received a descent size for about 7 dollars. It came with a chocolate syrup drizzle (tasted watered down) and whip cream (tasted cheap) on the side, but presentation was good. The Baltimore bomb is a custard with berger cookies on top. I thought the custard was way too sweet, tried to mute the sweetness with whip cream and the crust. The crust was ok. It didn't have a strong chocolately fudge taste from the berger cookies. Terrible. The wait staff was incredibly rude and unaccommodating (not wanting to brew decaf coffee after we asked for it, not offering a high chair until we asked 10 minutes after our arrival). The name of the place is well deserved. And this is not (just) desert! The barbecue pork pie is awesome and has a nice zip to the barbecue sauce. It is mostly meat, not sauce. The Steak/Mushroom/Onion/Gruyere is savory and luscious. The Chicken (pot pie) probably has most of a CHICKEN in it, not just chicken gravy. This is a hearty meal with veggies that TASTE and haven't been over-cooked. I get these pies in Bel Air from Coffee Coffee. read more

So I didn't know that the location in Canton (the main location) is under totally different management then the Hamden location. That explains a lot. Three of us went down to Hamden for a little afternoon pie and do I ever wish we had gone to the other location. The are far fewer selections at this location, the staff have have no allergen list or really any idea of the ingredients in either the sweet or savory pies or in the quiche. Though the teenager taking care of us was nice enough she new nothing about what the ingredients are of each pie much less how to properly work the cash register. Sadly I am lactose intolerant so I know my choices are typically more limited. Nevertheless, this Dangerously Delicious has never steered me wrong in terms of suitable tasty choices. Regretfully at this location (this was my first time) the young person working mislead me on what to order. After my first bite I knew something was wrong so I called the other location in Canton. They were quick to tell me the choices I had been sold definitely contained dairy and were not safe for me to eat; they were even quicker to say that Hamden was under different management yet they were sorry they really don't have much to do with how they run their shop. I won't shy away from the tasty delights that Dangerously Delicious has to offer but I think that next time I'll head down to Canton for quality pie and quality service read more

What a cool little place!! It's a small restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. They have savory pies and sweet pies. They also offer a "date night" special..two savory two sweet two sides (salad or cole slaw) and two drinks for $22. It's a great deal and more food than I could eat! I will say the cole slaw wasn't great, kind of tastes like sauerkraut, but everything else was excellent. I had the kielbasa sauerkraut potato pie and the banana chocolate chip pancake. This is a sad review for me to write because Dangerously Delicious used to have great pie especially in the Canton location. No more. The last few times we went to the Hampden location we noticed that the same pie we always loved didn't taste the same--the formerly delectable flaky crust now soggy and the fruit overly sweet or not sweet enough. We've given this place at least 5 chances since we live very close to Hampden in Mt Washington and kept hoping it was just kitchen kinks to work out after opening the new Hampden site. Last night was the last straw and we'll never go back. My husband and I went with another couple to dinner in Hampden and wanted dessert. Despite my protest that DD had gone downhill everyone wanted pie so we went. Here is the result: I ordered the apple pie crumble--undercooked apples literally as if they hadn't seen the inside of the oven. Tasteless crumble and soggy crust. Disgusting. My husband had regular apple. He ordered it hot and a la mode and it came out neither. It was cold and while the apples were cooked tender it was very mediocre flavor wise and lousy crust. Friends split a coconut custard. Not bad but nothing special and crust soggy doughy and flavorless. The staff there have always been local disinterested hipsters (mostly) but if the pie is great we don't really care. Last night, our server was particularly surly and my husband is convinced she was high as a kite. I can't say for sure but she did fling down our pie very abruptly and didn't even wait when my husband tried to ask about why it wasn't heated and no ice cream. Dangerously Delicious has dangerously deteriorated and unless they fix the problems I predict they will not last especially since there are now many actually delicious dessert options in Hampden. So I saw this place on The Best Thing I Ever Ate -Baltimore. Both locations were a complete hassle to get to. I tried the O'Donnell St. location on Friday evening around 6:30. There was no parking-metered or otherwise within blocks! nah. So i skipped it. I tried the Hampden location Saturday morning. I found metered parking like less than a block away. I got the Baltimore Bomb which it's famous for. Meh! It was ok. My take...if you're in the neighborhoods and walking by...stop and grab a slice if you need a sweet treat. I can only speak to the customer service because I purchased the pie for a friend and didnt taste it. I couldn't get in touch with anyone by phone so I went in to the Hampden store and ordered the pie a week in advance. The guy who took my order was very nice and said the crew was away for the week but assured me the pie would be done by Fri morning. When I went to pick up the pie the owner questioned me in an unfriendly manner. He looked so confused and disturbed that I was there to pick up a pie I already paid for. After thoroughly questioning me he finally went in the back and came out with my pie...he said something like " Glad it was back there bc no one told me about it". He handed me the pie and got back on his phone....no thank you, no sorry for the confusion...no nothing. Serious lack of customer service. I received a dangerously delicious chicken pot pie. The flavor was very good but it was dry. I made cuts in the top and added milk as instructed but it didn't help. Leftovers tomorrow, I will make gravy to add to it. I think if they sent a container of gravy with it it would be worth 5*. read more

The pie case was a little messy but that did not deter me from ordering two slices of pie. I was with my mom who is not only a pie expert but a quiche expert. She has eaten pie and quiche around the world and that's no joke. We opted for one sweet and one savory. We got the blueberry crumb pie and the cowboy quiche. We both liked the blueberry crumb pie I would have given it to four but my mom said it's definitely three. We both agreed that the blueberry filling was delicious but the crust just wasn't up to par with many places we have been. She also felt like there was a little too much lemon I'm not sure if it was in the crumble or in the filling. She stated that if it was blueberry and lemon pie she probably would not have ordered it. We brought visiting family from out of town and there were definite problems in the kitchen. The very nice and quite harassed woman at the counter was working alone due to a no show staff member and the quality of the pies suffered due to a new chef. All of the crusts were a bit tough and overdone. The chicken in the pot pie was very dry, but the seasonings were good. The apple pie filling was delicious and the mixed berry was nice and tart, not overly sweet. The star was the key lime pie. Tart and delicious, with a luscious texture. Unfortunately, the crusts really dragged the quality down. I might give the place another try, but I would not make a special trip, as we did this visit. read more

These pies are not dangerously delicious. They are good and in a hip area. I went here and decided to give it a good shot. So I ordered two whole mini pies (the ones they also sell at farmers market). The Pecan Pie got mixed reviews some people loved it and others thought it was bland. I felt it could have had more flavor. The apple pie was better but it was more dough than anything else. There is soo little filling which is ridiculous. I wound up with half a pie crust which was not something I wanted to eat plain. I have also tried there ratatouille pie which i strongly disliked. read more

We were so excited to go to DDP after a rain-soaked evening of enjoying the holiday lights on 34th street. As we walked up to the shop , a staff person was taking out the trash. Today I went to Dangerously Delicious Pies for the first time. I did not have a good experience. I ordered two slices. A Baltimore Bomb and a Sweet Potato. T The young lady at the register asked if we would like the pies warmed up. I ask if warming them up was recommended. She said, "it is up to you". I replied with what do most people do. She said "I don't know. Either". She was not helpful and rude because she never looked up from her phone during this brief conversation. I got the feeling we were bothering the young ladies working just by ordering pie. They were unprofessional. As we left the store my girlfriend tasted her sweet potato pie and realized it was actually pumpkin pie. When she asked the ladies inside if she received the wrong pie, they replied with " they both taste similar". Sweet potato and pumpkin pie are similar, however, they both don't taste like pumpkin. Disappointing. When we got home I tried my Baltimore Bomb cold. This too was disappointing. It did not taste similar to the famous Baltimore Berger cookies. I then attempted to heat the pie up. Outstanding!! We were given a gift certificate for a whole pie, I think I'm now in love. We got a Cowboy ( veggies, cheese and bacon) and a SMOG ( steak, mushroom, onion and gruyere) and OMG!!!! This honestly was not as good as I expected for "The best pie restaurant in Baltimore", but I have only went here once and I have only tried the key lime pie. It was okay; the crust was very good and I would have liked more crust, but it was way too sweet because it didn't have enough lime juice. Luckily, I have lime juice at home, so I put some on top. I just visited the Baltimore location for the first time and couldn't be happier!! The service, by John, was fantastic. He was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I had a minor problem with my pie and he immediately and courteously solved the problem. Also, the two pies he recommended to me were absolutely delicious!! I dined in and sat on their lovely shady porch. I started with the polka pie (saurkraut, potatoes, cheese and Polish sausage). I swear to you, I ate this massive piece of pie in 10 minutes. It was that good. The crust was obviously home made and fantastic. Good buttery flavor with just the right amount of flake. In addition, the pie comes with a side salad or slaw, making a very reasonable price for a full meal. The salad was made with fresh greens and a great balsamic vinaigrette came on the side. My dessert pie was the chocolate chess and I loved that one as well! It's like a hybrid between a brownie and a ganache and is just too good to be true. I love chocolate and this is a very chocolaty pie, but well worth the splurge. I can't wait to come here again and bring friends. I'm so glad I stopped in and gave it a chance! read more

It's good. I don't like pie, I don't like the flavors and texture of pie (it's basically some type of pudding or jam in a crust that tastes of bread) but if I were going to eat any pie it would be this one. I drove from Howard County to get these pies for my family for our Covid thanksgiving and picked up slices as well. The blueberry pie, I just couldn't it was a citrusy gelatinous filling, more lemon than I expected in a blueberry pie, but the lemon chess pie was great and the mobster brown (chocolate, caramel, pecan pie) was excellent. The crust is very firm and salty mildly flaky but it's pie crust not puff pastry so it's got limits. Loses one star because it should taste buttery but did not. Overall I have a feeling that these are the best pies around, the bakery smells like heaven, the ladies are super sweet. Definitely a great business to support.
