First time mom here and it's taken a month since the birth to feel like I'm in the headspace to write a review that could give justice to Danica. (P.s. still not quite there as I'm verrrrry tired but here goes) Physically, Danica's healing touch did wonders during pregnancy to alleviate all of the foreign and uncomfortable feelings in my body - as well as bring attention to the wonderful ones. In those final weeks I literally drooled on the table. I would have had a very different pregnancy without her bodywork due to significant hip and rib pain. My husband contacted Danica because I was having serious sciatica issues during my pregnancy. I was 16 weeks pregnant at the time of my first visit and could barely walk because my baby was sitting on top of my sciatic nerve and remained there for the rest of my pregnancy. I was able to walk and feel so much better thanks to Danica's prenatal massages. I didn't know what a doula was at the time, and she explained it to me. As a first-time mom, I had no idea what to expect during pregnancy and delivery, so I decided to hire Danica for her Doula services as well. Little did I know when I made the decision that Danica would keep me from having a C-section. I wanted a vaginal birth, which apparently is the exception, not the norm, here in Charleston. Danica was there for me basically for my entire pregnancy and was a great source of comfort and advice. When I started feeling uneasy about my OBGYN, she recommended one that was a great match for me. I developed gestational diabetes and preeclampsia during my third semester and had to be induced at 36 weeks because of my really high BP. Most women who experience this end up having a C-section, but I called Danica as soon as I knew I'd be induced and she came to the hospital and acted as my advocate. Because I wasn't dilating fast enough after 3 days, I was told that I may need a C-section after all. Danica stayed with me and did all sorts of stretches and exercises that led me to dilate 8 inches in 6 hours. She was by my side the whole time I was getting induced and talked to the nurses and the OB on my behalf when things started going in a way I disagreed with and she quickly got my treatment back on track. I can't recommend Danica enough. She was worth every penny and then some. To this day people (including my primary care doctor) are surprised that I didn't get a C-Section despite my pregnancy complications, and I know that if Danica hadn't been by my side, I would have not given birth the way that I wanted to. Danica has a gift for what she does. She's excellent. I now consider her a friend and will be forever grateful to her for everything she did for me, as she went above and beyond. Danica is one of the best massage therapist out there! Very few massage therapist that advertise "deep tissue massage" can actual consistently perform "deep tissue massage". Anyone who works out often and/or sits in a car/chair often, knows the importance of a good deep tissue massage. Danica is the real deal! Plus, as a registered Doula, she does pregnancy massages.
