How FORTUNATE Charleston is to be blessed with this gifted healer! I'm a third generation Santa Monica California native, the Mecca of true healing modalities such as chiropractics and acupuncture. I've gone to these types of doctors since I was seven years old 55 years ago. I called Dr Brian Workman for an emergency new patient appointment because of the fabulous reviews online that I read. He saw me a few hours later, the last patient of the day. I had experienced severe trauma and my lower back, head, neck and ribs were a wreck. I hobbled over to his beautiful office next to the Aquarium overlooking the water. Dr. Workman gets it. If you've been traumatized, your muscles tense up and hold the spine out of alignment. Most chiropractors don't relax the muscles enough. He employs an ingenious combination of trigger point therapy and massage to relax and dispel the subluxations created by the pinched nerves and maladjusted bones. Then he uses chiropractics to relieve pressure and straighten the spine. I have an extremely difficult neck to adjust. 95% of all chiropractors cannot adjust it. He nailed it. I was shocked. I stood up during the treatment and still felt a tinge of pain, pointed to it and got back on the table. He went to work on the spot and others with such dedication and care for the patient. Then I asked him if he recommended anything else. He suggested a CBD cream which has worked phenomenally well. I can honestly say this chiropractor provided more relief to me in one visit than my doctors at home. He has a gift for healing that I envy. Almost one week after the trauma, the adjustment is still holding. My neck feels better than it has in years!! I wanted to return on Saturday two days later, but unfortunately didn't connect with him. I've always been skeptical about going to a chiropractor, thinking that there wasn't much too it. That was my thinking until recently when I suffered a rhomboid strain and was in so much pain that I could not stand, sit, walk, or move without discomfort. While at work I was in so much pain that I pulled out my phone and got on the Yelp app to find a nearby chiropractor and decided to give Dr. Brian Workman a call at Charleston Chiropractic. He answered the phone and was more than happy to see me that day with little notice. I was still skeptical when I walked into his office, but after seeing him and having him adjust my shoulders, back, and neck I started feeling way better. "This stuff really works!" I thought to myself. Since my first visit have been back a few times to see Dr. Workman to get adjusted and each time I leave I feel lot better from the adjustments. Dr. Workman is great and has a great attitude toward chiropractic treatment explaining exactly what he is doing as he makes the adjustments needed. I'm no longer suffering from the pain of the rhomboid strain, but I still go about every 2 weeks to once a month to get adjusted and it feels great and I'm very relaxed afterwards. read more

I just got back from visiting this Dr for a second opinion on some xrays that another Dr took and made some severe recommendations on treatment. I am so glad I saw Dr. Workman to go over the xrays, who also takes insurance and explained everything to me very slowly and thoroughly. Please note any Chiro that wants money up front for treatments is a pretty much a scam and would highly recommend getting a second opinion. Needed a massage terribly this AM to help with lymphatic drainage from surgery and here from out of town. I was reluctant to go to just anyone, as I really wasn't interested in a frou frou massage, but needed someone who knows what they're doing. This seemed to fit the bill! They were able to get me in quickly which was awesome. The chiropractor was answering his own phones which was unusual. Really nice dude. Massage therapist was outstanding. Cost was reasonable. I pinched a nerve in my back one Saturday morning, I had never done anything like that before and was in a lot of pain and really confused. I called 5-6 different chiropractors and all of them either couldn't see me or didn't even answer their phone. Dr. Workman is the best chiropractor I've been to yet! A few years ago I suffered an injury to my Infraspinatus muscle in my rotator cuff. This caused a lot of imbalances over the next few years as medical doctors were unable to properly diagnose me. Dr. Workman actually listened to the problems the injury caused me over the years and the pain I was experiencing all over my left shoulder, upper back and neck. He also pointed out that since the injury my chest was out working my back muscles and pulling my shoulder almost completely inward. Along with re-aligning my thoracic he also used active release on my problem areas (rotator cuff, traps and rhomboids). Everything was overcompensating still from the injury. Within a few weeks I felt like a completely different person! Almost as if I was living in a prison these last few years and possibly the better part of my adult life. I have seen multiple chiropractors, physical therapists and medical doctors regarding my issue and Dr. Workman was the first person to listen and properly diagnose the root of my problem. I want to preface this review with, I own my error in that I brought this practice's paperwork to what I thought was my scheduled first appointment with a new chiropractor I found on social media and signed a consent form. However that is where my ownership ends. I again SCHEDULED an appointment for an initial consult with another area practice through a social media ad. When I arrived and provided paperwork, I advised Dr. Workman I was there for an appointment and then DURING the appointment, explained when he asked, that I found him on Social Media. To which he questioned, you found me on Instagram, I replied or Facebook can't remember and he replied, "Yeah, social media is popular right now." I was there approximately 40 minutes, as he saw "other" patients before taking me back for my session. Again he was CLEARLY the only person there and I was a new patient, so I thought since mine would take longer, this was the delay. When he did bring me back, he did do an intake. I explained in detail my previous medical issues to include that I have had a C4/5 fusion, my first rib has been removed due to Thoracic Outlet Syndrome and that I STILL have a portion of the blood clot in my subclavian vein on that side. I explained per my MRI in 2018, I have deterioration in my neck around the existing hardware put in with my fusion, I have increased arthritis, bone spurs and although I KNEW eventually surgery was my option, I am a triathlete and want to try chiropractic service and yoga to prolong surgery. I explained that I have noticed significant reduction in my range of motion and that my father has the same issue, so I want to NOT get to that point hence why I was there to try and salvage what I could and hopefully find some relief from my symptoms. Which again, I explained in GREAT DETAIL! Dr. Workman past reviewing the paperwork I provided, NEVER did a physical exam of any sort, no X-Rays, scans nothing. He does not do social media advertising, which he admitted to the Dr I had actually scheduled with when he called him! So although he can claim and I agree there was a misunderstanding, HE IS A DOCTOR! He runs his own practice BY HIMSELF. ETHICALLY - He KNEW I did not have an appointment and that he does not do social media advertising and yet STILL worked on me? Never said a word, never asked additional questions. After his adjustments, I advised him I felt lightheaded and had a slight headache before leaving and he said that could happen, I paid him and made an appointment for next week - WHICH I WILL NOT BE KEEPING - and left to find a voicemail from the CORRECT Chiropractors office, whose name is similar but longer than Dr. Workman's. I have no recourse outside of this review. I provided paperwork from his website and signed a consent. However, I feel violated in that again ethically as Dr and owner of a business, he could have and SHOULD HAVE asked additional questions and even told me he did not have me scheduled so I could have either stayed or left to go to where I actually made an appointment. Anything could have happened, no one really knew where I was outside of at Dr's appointment. Dr. Workman seems to get rave reviews on here. I think what he did is unethical, end of story. I will not be going back, I will NOT recommend him to ANYONE....EVER! I had the right to make an informed decision, which he took away from me. He could have gained a new patient had he been honest. In my opinion, his omission was not lying but it certainly was also not being truthful. He broke a sacred trust that a patient should have with a Dr. in a field that already doesn't always get a good rap. It's unfortunate and I wrote this review so that YOU TOO can make at least an informed decision, a right that was taken from me before you go to see this man. ***Please note: I also left this same review, verbatum on Google, to which Dr. Workman replied and through additional vague statements, attempted to soothe his conscience and offer me well wishes. Dr. Workman is an extremely knowledgable man and is very good at what he does. He is personable, quick, and very flexible and understanding (I am a college student with an ever-changing schedule) He was my first chiropractic experience and I am now a firm believer in the craft. I have felt all my stiffness and discomfort wither away since going to Dr. Workman for the first time in September. Alicia, who does the massages, is also very skillful and really knows how to relieve tension and have you waking up the following day feeling more limber, and with A LOT less tension. I am so thankful for everything Dr. Workman has done for me! Last week, I had so much back pain that I could not walk. Dr. Workman(Brian) is magnificent. I came to see Brian on a Tuesday with extreme pain from low back spasms and was certain that the highlight of my vacation, two rounds of golf at Pinehurst scheduled for Thursday and Friday, would be simply not be possible. After taking his time to learn about me and my history of back issues, Brian treated me with heat and electrical stimulation, followed by deep muscle therapy and a few adjustments throughout my spine. I felt immediate and drastic relief for which I was profoundly grateful but I was at the same time concerned that the relief might last only a few hours. I returned to see Brian the next morning prior to leaving for Pinehurst and was thrilled to tell him that I was still feeling good. He checked me over thoroughly, did another slight adjustment, and let me know that the muscles he had worked so hard to release the previous day were still in good shape. He advised me on the use of heat, ice, and walking to maintain my condition throughout my trip and enable me to play golf the following two days. I cannot recommend Brian highly enough. If I could give him six stars I would. He is not only very skilled but an extremely kind and caring individual as well. Brian is one of the most gifted chiropractors that I have been treated by. I've probably been to 14 chiropractors and five acupuncturists.He is definitely among the very best. Brian was able to find some ancient scar tissue and help me work out a lot of pain that came out suddenly after a long plane trip. I recommend him without reservation.
