I recently used Daniel and Son Moving to move into my new home. They showed up promptly and began working immediately. During the move, high wind caused my front door to slam and injured a mover. I was impressed because the owner came to check on the injured associate, sent him to be checked out, and stepped in for a 9 1/2 move. That is knowing the right priorities (the staffs health) but also insuring my move still happened (I would have understood if it would have been delayed another day). RUN & FAST--DO NOT USE THIS MOVING COMPANY! I recently hired this company to deliver a sofa from a furniture store to my home. Just before the move, I spoke with their administrative office, where I was told I could pay when the movers arrived and that they had basic tools (in case a door needed to be removed for the move). They also mentioned that it would be helpful if the door was already removed. As a complete courtesy, I offered to both pay in advance and remove the door myself. However, when the movers arrived, they could not fit the sofa through the door, so they dropped it in my garage and left without offering any additional assistance or even advice. To make matters worse, they refused to simply help me put the door back on, despite the fact that I had removed it simply to be kind, and it was with great difficulty as a small & solo woman. They didn't even try other entry-ways, they just zoomed off. Over the past few months, I've had a stove, two fridges, a very large washing machine, and a matching dryer moved into my home, and every time, the movers (from other moving companies, not this one) removed my back sliding door, brought the items inside, and then replaced the door. But this company refused to even attempt that. They also lied multiple times, claiming they couldn't remove doors, could only remove certain types of doors, or didn't have the equipment for it (despite my confirming with their office that they did). Now, my sofa is still in the garage, and I'll have to hire another moving company to simply bring it in through the front entrance-way or through the back sliding door. This company is unprofessional, unreliable, dishonest, and unkind, and certainly uncaring. I will make sure to warn my family and friends about them so that no one else has to suffer through such poor service and money-loss. read more

The crew arrived maskless and bitching about the job from the second the entered my apt. First thing they disapproved of was the size of the boxes I had packed my belongings in. Next they found some dead bugs (cockroaches) and refused to move me. I am a disabled veteran who for years has been trying to escape this little piece of hell and they were of absolutely NO HELP. So here I sit with my life in boxes and nobody who can/will move me to my new/better apt until 2 guys can fit me in on the 5th. (5 days away at 50% higher rate.) My last experience with movers was not great to put it mildly. I decided to find a different company, and chose Daniel and Sons mainly for their low rates. I had a stuffed 10x20 storage unit in Kettering that needed to be moved to a partially filled 10x30 in Piqua. They were fantastic! Cody and John struck the perfect balance between speed and carefulness. They were VERY courteous and professional. They would stop and ask for my OK if they had any doubts about anything, which I really appreciated. They stacked and stuffed my 10x30 unit with extreme care, fitting all of my possessions, and still managed to place some special items so that I could easily access them. Daniel & Sons Moving Company Rocks!! We needed some help moving things out of our 2 story duplex on short notice and on a Sunday. This company was very accommodating. It was a minimum charge of 2 hours at 93.00 an hour (its cheaper during the week, again this was a SUNDAY) The two awesome young men that they sent out Isiah & Justin were above and Beyond. Not only did they get the job done in the 2 hour slot, they busted their butts the whole time. I could not be any happier with the work these two put in. This review is for Daniel & Son movers of Dayton, Ohio ! I absolutely do not recommend this company ! I received an estimate over the phone of $400 ! At the end of the move I was charged $612 ! The guys who showed up to do my move even did an accesment and said it would only be a 2 hour move, it took them over 4 hours ! After they left I found out from other residents in the building they were seen taking multiple smoke breaks ! Why should I have to pay for smoke breaks ? I called them and wrote to them explaining why I thought I should get at least a one hour refund, but to no avail ! If you want to get ripped off, then by all means use this lousy company ! Will never use then again or tell friends about !!! The guy in the office was suppose to return my call concerning my letter, but never did ! I thought it was a great price and I was just returning home from a deployment. It was an easy job to move from a storage unit to a house close by. I waited a while to unpack before I said anything but they stole a toolbox I had with some expensive leathermans I use for work. They also stole a beats pill and a fire stick. Just annoying that you trust for movers to be truthful and honest people. It's a shame because it's little things but I'll never get that stuff back. Especially the toolbox I had stuff from years in there. I wouldn't recommend unless you could closely watch them and take inventory of everything before they leave your stuff. read more

We had Daniel and Sons move us this past week and they were great! They came the day before to pack a few items and even though they missed one as I had to leave they packed it the next morning. They sent 4 guys and then 2 more showed up to move the process along. So, 6 great looking guys and a driver. They listened and did what we needed and wanted with no complaints. My first time using a moving company and I didn't know you were supposed to tip, my bad. I went to the bank and got tips for them. I also feed them pizza and chicken and pop. WARNING THIEVES! They should change their name to 'overpriced stoners for hire'. I hired 4 'men' (boys) and 2 trucks to move an entire truck. Basically it was a lot of walking around with no sense of urgency. The majority of the time 2 were working while the other 2 watched. Several broken items which I expected on a move which I was not happy about but was willing to let it go. Despite having 2 large trucks, they STILL had to take 2 trips charging by the hours. After unloading our first trip to the new property, they returned to previous property, loaded the 10 misc items that could have fit in the previous load, then they abruptly left without telling me they were leaving. I'm not sure how they planned to gain access to the new property without me being there. We had to phone them to return as they did not get everything. They did return reeking like marijuana that was witnessed by other people there helping us. The worse part was that before the movers arrived, we packed a box with a large amount of cash and personal items. I wrote 'Open First' on the box, BIG MISTAKE as we later found this box buried and ripped open. Of course the cash and other items were missing. So now I not only have to deal with unpacking and setting up a household, I now have to organize a police report and fight with this company. read more

This moving company gave me and my wife one of the most horrible experiences of our life. My wife booked the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend and told them that we had a 2 story house with a full basement and the number of rooms and they showed up with a 26 foot truck and a 16 foot truck. I knew immediately that they didnt have enough space. They loaded half of the 26 footer and then they saw a bug on a piece of furniture and then claimed that they couldn't finish the move because of company policy. We live next to a woods and get bugs all the time even when we spray. Nevertheless they delivered half of the truck to my new house and left. I had to rent a 26 footer from Uhaul and recruit friends and family to move ourselves. We filled the truck up 3 times.... I would not recommend this company to anyone anyone unless you get your house sprayed and all furniture cleaned ahead of time to ensure that you don't scare them with any insects and then show them a certificate of inspection. Even a one star rating is too high for these clowns. Thank God nobody got hurt moving appliances and heavy furniture. I am in my late 50's and moving my own stuff was NOT what I had planned. Bottom line - do not hire this company under any circumstances!!! read more

My husband and I hired Daniel and sons thinking our furniture would be in good hands. Granted the movers got us moved in a good time frame, however, they damaged a couple pieces of our furniture and HAD to have known they did and didn't bother to tell us. I emailed the company and did not get any type of reply back. Please check every piece of furniture before and after you are moved for damage. What a great company. These guys were absolutely professional and positive throughout the entire ordeal. We hired them to move from one house to another and again when we had to move a massive antique bookcase into our new home. We selected the three man option and it was worth every penny. Before and after the move we received numerous updates and communication about the scheduled times. We have recommended them to everyone we know. After every move, we have followed up with our friends and family and everyone is on the same page. I wish more businesses operated this way. THE WORST!!! Just like the other negative reviews, the four young men were stoned and took several breaks to get more stoned. So many things were broken, they brought two trucks and both trucks were only 1/3 full. they stacked furniture with absolutely no concern, they damaged the walls and ceiling of the new place because they did not work as a team but tried to move heavy things alone. There was so much wasted time, so much walking around and talking but doing nothing. They were rude but the "foreman" was weirdly friendly, It was just a BAD experience all around. This company moved us fast and efficiently but they took my wife's wedding ring in the process. After I confronted them about it they denied the charge and the employee who took the ring is probably still working with them. I want to warn anyone who wants to use Daniel and Sons moving so that this devastating tragedy doesn't happen to them. On the day of the move they were only supposed to move our large furniture. I had previously placed my wife's ring in a ceramic box in our master bathroom. A few of their employees used the restroom and when we came back that night the ring was gone. I do not rejoice in reporting that you cannot trust this company but they took no steps to repair the damages or find which employee was responsible for taking the ring. It took three men 5 hours to move two beds, washer and dryer, settee, couch, love seat, chair, three dressers and a Nordictrack (no boxes). There was a lot of walking around with empty arms. One guy seemed to do the majority of the work so maybe you can just hire him. The men were nice, but no sense of urgency. Several things were damaged and after a week of waiting for someone to come out all he did was accuse me of lying by suggesting everything was already there and the whole in the wall was just paint missing. He did not take ownership of anything with only saying "I wasn't here..." for everything, maybe he should be on all job sites in the future then. He did say if he was quoting me how long it would take to move the above he would have said longer so keep that in mind when deciding how much you want to spend to move furniture. I would have been better off moving it myself versus spending $600+ to move the 12 items above. I will be disputing my charge and I would strongly suggest hiring another company if you are reading this. read more
