He causes legal problems for clients purposely very angry and hard heart refusing to help when he makes a mistake. He did not report my correct income and now after 3 years I have been audited and he is extremely rude not accepting the problem he caused me and not apologizing. I would not recommend him not even to my worst enemy. He needs to get retired and to cause legal problems for his clients and his charges are too much. read more

I had an appointment with Daniel Dubois, CPA ON May 28th, 2025. The meeting was concerning a check for $400 paid to them in person in mid April regarding my tax return. Later, they insisted, despite my assurances and protests to the contrary, that I had not paid this bill. I told them I had the bank documents proving that the bill was paid. They still refused to believe me, demanding I pay the bill or be subjected to "late fees" that they would assess to my account. They obviously had done nothing to confirm my payment. I finally was forced to make an appointment to prove to them that I had, in fact, paid the bill. When making the appointment, at first, I was told I could not get a meeting with Mr. Dubois and would only get a meeting with another employee. After insisting firmly, they relented and set up a meeting with Mr. Dubois. At the meeting, at first, Mr. Dubois still held the opinion that I was in arrears. I showed him documentation that they had cashed my check which seemed to frustrate him. He then, begrudgingly, admitted that the debt was paid. I asked for a receipt showing my zero balance, considering what had gone before. At first he refused. After my demand that I receive a receipt, he begrudgingly relented, giving me a handwritten receipt and informing me that I was no longer his client. I agreed with that assessment immediately. Who hires a CPA that cannot keep track of a $400 check? Mr. Dubois and specifically his office manager Beth were very rude and demanding to me, even though I was a present client. In short, I had a very bad experience with this business and cannot recommend them. read more

In December 2019 at my pre-tax appointment Dan estimated our Federal Return of roughly $12,000...When he completed the actual Return our overpayment was about $3,000 and when asked, he offered no explanation. In review I found the errors and advised him. After making corrections our overpayment was approximately $9,000. In June while preparing paperwork to determine capital gains on a rental property we recently sold I noticed on Schedule E that he missed 2019 depreciation on the property. In a June 15 email I highlighted his second error and after 3 attempts to get a response I gave up. On August 4th I forwarded the following email..."Blowing me off was an amateur and arrogant move for a guy who missed over $5,000 of Federal overpayments and oh by the way, forgot to take depreciation on our rental home. Happy to review your sloppy work on social media". If I treated my customers how Dan chooses to conduct his business I'd be out of business. Clearly, Dan Dubois is over his head and I would dissuade anyone from working with him read more

A copy of my letter submitted to the Better Business Bureau regarding this company's egregious errors and the mailing of our personal information to the wrong address. We have used Dan Dubois to prepare our tax returns for the last 2 years. In February 2016, I dropped off a packet of paperwork that included our tax forms from 2015 and a letter providing information about our 2015 tax return. In this letter, I informed them that we had moved and that we had a new address and I provided that new address. I also informed them that because of our move, we could now claim a designated office space (I work from home) on our 2015 tax return and that this was a change from 2014. I received a follow-up email on 2/20/16 from Judith, which requested additional information about our taxes and that acknowledged the information received in the letter that I had included when I dropped it off in-person to their office. In April 2016, the week before taxes were due, I emailed their office to inquire about the state of our tax return. I was told via email from Judith that a copy of our tax return had been sent to our OLD address! I was shocked and dismayed to learn that our personal information including our dates of birth and social security numbers had been sent to the WRONG address after we had given them sufficient notice that our address had changed. Because we had moved to a different apartment in the same complex, I left a note on the door of our previous apartment, asking them to email or call me about the mis-mailed packet, but did not receive a response. By this time, I was in a panic that both my husband's and my identities were going to be stolen. We also learned that we owed over $8,000 in taxes because our withholding was wrong. Although Dan Dubois had done our taxes the previous year, he had failed to inform us at that time that our withholding was insufficient. We were shocked to learn that we had such a huge tax bill and that we only had a few days to get the payment in on time. Dan Dubois's office has failed to acknowledge or even apologize for their egregious error and maintains that we did not inform them of our address change. However, the fact that we were able to claim a designated office space on our 2015 taxes compared to 2014, and the initial emails that I received from Judith requesting follow-up information to the letter that I given to them, are proof that we did in fact inform them of our new address and that they did in fact know about it. Despite telling them in April 2016 that they had mailed our tax return and vital personal information to the wrong address, they sent a bill on May 4, 2016 to THE WRONG ADDRESS AGAIN. I did not receive this until June 2016. I have communicated with their office, asking them to inform us immediately if the initial tax return has been returned by the post office, and it has not been returned, nor has it been forwarded to our current address. At this point, we do not know where our personal information is. We requested that Dan Dubois's office provide identity theft protection for my husband and me, and they refused, stating once again that we did not provide them with proper notice of our address change. I feel that this business has committed egregious errors with the filing of our taxes, the advice provided regarding withholdings, and with our personal information. read more

Dan and his team made a $50k error on my 2015 tax return. When questioned about the amount we owed as it was extremely excessive we were told to pay the taxes and they would review it later. No review was made by Dan or his team. Trusting my gut I took this to another (5 Star yelp) rated firm in the same building who found the mistake and helped us recover the money. Dan did admit to the mistake and refunded my filing fees after multiple email attempts to him. I would never recommend this firm to anyone. read more
