Sam (CPA who prepared my return) and Stan (office manager) did a fantastic job handling my and my parent's taxes this year, which were both more complex than usual. Communication was excellent ... quick, clear, and at just the right level. Most of my questions were answered quickly through their portal or via a quick call. Their portal is easy to use & efficient. I liked that I could actually see how each document was used, with markers showing exactly where numbers were pulled from in the PDFs. Their fee was reasonable, and I believe I more than made that back through their expertise. They caught items that my previous tax preparer missed, which made a real difference. If your taxes involve more than just basic W-2s or 1099s, I highly recommend working with a knowledgeable CPA like Sam. The accounting firm I had used for 20 years to do my taxes informed me that they would no longer do taxes and they turned me over to Excel Tax group. I was surprised and disappointed. Anyway I gave them all the information they required to do my taxes a month ago. I waited and waited for some word from them. This week I sent them two emails and a voice message asking about me tax return. Today I received an email asking me to sign the tax returns but they wouldn't be filed until I paid they fee. The fee was $800 dollars. They said my previous company had been undercharging. I had been paying $350, I immediately told them that i would not be signing the returns and would find someone else to do my taxes. They replied, "No problem at all. Best wishes," I think they had never even done the returns, they just were gaslighting me. Anyway, I went online and found another company to do my taxes. I uploaded all my documents and should get my returns next week for a cost of $150! Use them at your own risk. read more

I cannot recommend Sam Dodin enough. I filed an extension last year and when I realized ON OCTOBER 15th that I lacked what it was going to take to get my taxes done correctly, I panicked. It was the 11th hour and I knew I set myself up for trouble I didn't need with the IRS but nor did I have the capacity to think at that point so I bowed my head and asked the Lord to help me find a CPA and He led me to Sam Dodin. True story. She very calmly walked me through what she needed from me and then got to work. By 6:00 pm (less than 3 hours after we spoke on the phone), she called and told me I was getting a tax return that was 3x the amount of any previous year. Being I used Yelp to find Sam and SoCal Tax Advisors, I felt it only appropriate to leave a review after using her to complete my 2022 taxes. I will say all the reviews about her were spot on. I had some issues with my tax preparer the previous year and needed to find someone new. Not just someone who claimed to do taxes, but someone with experience, efficiency, and the knowledge to complete my taxes correctly. I had contacted Sam via Yelp and she responded within an hour, maybe less. She emailed me the required forms to get things started. I admit, not having initial face to face contact or even a phone conversation and then sending her personal information was a lil scary at first. However, she was quick to set up a secure and encrypted portal to upload documents. The website was user friendly too. I emailed her with several questions during the initial setup to which she responded in less than 15min. I was set up and ready to upload my tax documents within a day. For being a new client, she completed my taxes in a timely manner. The best part is my piece of mind they were done correctly.
