Dr. Alpert is patient and kind and wonderful, I have sent at least four people to go to him for a colonoscopy, and endoscopy, or even just a second opinion. His opinion is the one that matters most, and he will go to great lengths to make sure his patience are healthy. His staff is lovely and his PA. Camille is also fabulous. read more

Staff is very wanting in responding to phone calls or email messages. When I emailed the doctor himself to get some missing info I needed and also to alert him about a possible emergency situation that could arise during my colonoscopy, he eventually phoned me and said HIPAA forbids email. Totally untrue, as he no doubt knows -- HIPAA says email communication is the choice of the patient, NOT the doctor. As I was leaving after the procedure I had a yes/no question for him and went to his office to ask it. Moments later I had another -- his pre and post procedure instructions are very incomplete -- and this time he JUMPed to his feet and shut the door. How dare I ask for missing information? Along the way he sent a bill to Medicare for a telephone appt I had absolutely no record of. When I phoned his office for info about this and left a message, no one responded. When Medicare contacted them (I made a complaint about it) staff did not respond to Medicare either, so they withdrew payment from his account. So, he waited a while and billed them again and got paid again. I'm not going back. read more

As good as it gets! I am so grateful and lucky to find a Doctor and staff like this. I will never refer anyone else other than Dr. Alpert. He is so warm, so intelligent and never rushes you when you have a bunch of questions. He loves delivering the results as soon as he gets them and that's really nice for patients who are anxious. Jenny - you are the most wonderful, considerate, warm-hearted person I have ever encountered in the medical industry. Thank you for making me at ease and treating me as more than a patient. I am giving him a start only because he is personable and listens. I had previous colonoscopies with him I also referred to him friends or anyone who needs his service. Few days ago I had a horrible experience, all my friends that i referred to him told me that they waited almost 3 hours to have the colonoscopy, i did not believe them but I had the same case, my appt was a 11 he saw me at 1:30, he overbooks way too many patients for 1day, I guess his financial gain comes first then is pt care, but the prob is that no one tell you that he is running late, you just wait and wait, his personnel don't make even make a eye contact with you, I ask ed to tell him that I want to re-schedule, no response to that, a day before he threaten me with a cancelation fee of $250 for a 48 hrs in advance that i was willing to pay even though I saw him less the 48 hrs ago. I am extremely upset for the things that happen, while I was under anesthesia, the pics they took with my own camara is grounds for misconduct, assault, battery , I am still processing this action and how to proceed with this, I discover this when I was at home. Note: I wrote a mostly positive review about two years ago and I then wrote an updated review about two weeks ago. The doctors office contacted Yelp and paid to get my updated review removed. I am reposting the facts below: UPDATE: This is an update to my earlier review from about a year and a half ago. Since visiting Dr. Alpert I learned that I had an underactive thyroid. While this doctor treated me for acid reflux and told me to get a better diet he was unable to take a more holistic approach and see the full picture of what was going on. At the time, I told him all of my symptoms which included weight gain, hoarse throat, difficulty swallowing, constantly needing to clear my throat, puffy face, a bulging neck, feeling cold and bloated and not once did he say "get your thyroid checked." That's disappointing enough. But approximately a month ago, I received in the mail a bill from a year and three months ago. When I called to inquire, the receptionist blamed me for not telling them my health insurance had changed. I left with a really sour taste in my mouth now and this bitterness is NOT from acid reflux. In my opinion, I would pass on this place. read more

I've been a patient if Dr. Alpert's for a couple of years and have never been dissatisfied with his office or care . He takes the time to listen to the reason I am in his office and explains his diagnosis in detail or the proposed treatment that may be to my advantage. I've had several colonoscopy procedures at his office and have never felt sick afterwards. Each time a follow up call ensues a couple of hours later to see how I'm doing. I've never had any issues relating to insurance. read more

Dr. Alpert is pleasant and personable. He is knowledgable, spends a lot of time with his patients, and expressed himself at a level easily understood by a layman without "talking down". The members of the office staff are likewise efficient, pleasant, and professional. read more

Dr. Alpert was very knowledgeable and thorough and would highly recommend the doctor. However, after receiving my blood test results I called to ask what specific antibody they tested for. The receptionist said I would have to schedule an appointment just to ask the question. This seems extremely inefficient of everybody's time and would literally take less than 5 minutes to check. read more

Dr. Alpert was relateable, professional, and really put me at ease. He and his nurse answered all of my questions and concerns during my endoscopy consultation, I scheduled my procedure with them a week later. The procedure was much easier than I anticipated and for that I am so grateful for Dr. Alpert! I just can't say enough good things about Dr. Alpert and his nurse. Plus the office is conveniently located with the ability to schedule on Zocdoc! I highly recommend Dr. Alpert if anyone is looking for a Gastroenterologist. read more

Dr. Alpert was very professional and knowledgeable. He made me feel very comfortable during our consultation by providing me with all the information I should and needed to know. He answered all my questions and concerns. I was scheduled to do an endonascopy a few days later and the procedure went very well. Quick and no pain at all! I had never had a colonoscopy before. My OB-GYN referred me to this doctor in the Corinthian Building in NY. I thought I would have to wait a long time to schedule a pre-procedure consultation and the actual colonoscopy. To my surprise, the doctor gave me a consultation the same day and scheduled me for the colonoscopy the next week. The consultation including drawing blood to do an analysis and a detailed session in which the procedure was explained to me and a sheet of instructions on how to use dulcolax and the prescription laxative as well as what to drink while fasting - Gatorade, clear apple and or grape juice, herbal tea and water. The actual colonoscopy was only about 15 minutes long or less. Great doctor and process from start to finish. The only thing they could improve was to at least provide a juice box and crackers or a granola bar after the colonoscopy as everyone is starving after fasting 24 hours. read more

I went to see Dr. Alpert because of pressure on my right side, just below my breast and above, right on top of the rib cage. Dr. Alpert did a upper GI Endoscopy and ordered xrays and blood test. He said I had Gerd. After that, Dr. Alpert did a colonoscopy and that checkout fine. He also examined my stomach by pressing down on it and I did not have pain. But the problem that, I walked into his office about, is still there, and it has gotten worse, because now I feel that everytime I eat something, it goes to the right side and it fills up some kind of tube, there is pressure. Dr. Alpert said, that my problem was that I was too fat, he is right, because I am 5 feet and weight 175 lbs. Dr. Alpert was personable and took his time explaining test and procedures. His staff was very nice. But the problem with my right side is now more pronounced, I feel like I have a beanie bag inside my body. I'm going to Bellevue hospital in the morning, because of these symptoms, to see what they say. I am afraid to eat hard food, like tuna for example, because it goes straight to the right side, so now I can only eat soft foods. It goes to the right side also, but doesn't feel so uncomfortable. Dr. Alpert's feeling was that he did his part in conducting the exams and now it was up to me to do my part and lose the weight. He was very polite, but he had an I'm done with you attitude. But I think he's wrong and I have something in there, he just didn't catch it. It's more pronounced and I can feel it. read more

Not Recommended and Don't be fooled by all the vastly positive reviews for this doctor. I went there for my gastric and bleeding problem. He doesn't seems interested to help out and sending to another doctor. All he cares for is the money. His staff are useless with full of attitude as well. I'm really sick and tired of this doctor.
