I've been a patient of Dr. Warman's for 15 years now. Claudia McGeary, formerly right-hand…read moreassistant to John Squire and, later, me, referred me to him. She's old school and meeting her standards ain't easy. Dr. Warman is the best internist on the Eastern seaboard. His front office staff does a great job managing the patient load. The result: almost no waiting time (15 minutes MAXIMUM) at his office. He has a great referral network. Oh yeah, and he's Steve Guttenberg. He's affable yet efficient, good- humored, and he takes your health and privacy seriously. When he has test results for you, including and especially STD/STI/venereal disease tests, he himself calls you. If you don't pick up, then he leaves you a message telling you to call him back, but doesn't leave the results of the tests themselves in the message. Those he ALWAYS gives you over the phone or in person. He delivers the good news briskly, and you feel he is as happy and relieved as you were. I've also seen him deliver the uncertain or bad news with kindness and understanding, spending hours with her and her family, discussing which option would be the better one. It was a contentious proceeding, but he handled it with diplomacy. professionalism and patience. The process lasted for several hours, concluding in a major decision that prolonged the patient's life. He has embraced the latest technology and pioneered an easy check-in process that streamlines the provision of patient information including insurance.

Nice, pleasant and thorough the colonoscopy was quick well done. Doctor is congenial informative.read more

The building itself is fairly old as you would see once you enter through the front doors and go into the elevator. No one would guess that there's a doctors office inside of it. They have tea bags plus water coming out of a filter for you to have at the lobby. I've only seen one doctor who specializes in GI issues, but it seems like there's a range of other doctors using the same office. He suggested that I get an endoscopy done and did that at another location at Union Square. Both times, I was seen at the appointed time, but nothing was really resolved. I may go get a second opinion.

They billed me right after and again over 1.5 years later for the same service they stated was in network. 1.5 years later they say they haven't heard from insurance for further payment on the one time service . I call my insurance , they said this was taken care of last year, no recent activity was even requested by this practice. I call billing office back to tell them this, get a different person, "oh that was wrong you don't owe anything" hmm...... They called asking why I didn't return to make a follow up appt? Really? Maybe figure this out because this sounds like a billing nightmare and people are given wrong info on purpose to get more money. Just be mindful if you keep going here and whether your insurance truly is in network with this place and get documentation of that. You may not see the bills until well after date of service. Not reassuring for a practice. The doctor was lovely- but sorry my trust is lost.

I was coming fresh from the hospital and still in pain so I needed a 2nd opinion. I searched…read moreextensively online and found a colleague of "Dr." -- I use the phrase doctor lightly in light of what occurred -- Ugonna Iroku. The doctor I wanted to see was not available for 2 and a 1/2 wks so they talked me into booking him. I called to say I would be 5 mins late and was right down the street and they said fine they had a 15 min grace period. When I arrived on 5th Avenue, it was 3:05pm. But they give you the wrong address claiming the office is at 535 5th Avenue when it is actually on 44th street. To make matters much worse, the operator on the phone claimed she didn't know where it was because they use call centers instead of on-site receptionists! So I spent an extra 12 mins walking up 5th Avenue trying to find the office! When I finally arrived at 3:17pm, they claimed I would have to rebook because it was already past the 15 min grace time even though this was their fault. I had passed right by the building at 3:04pm. So I would've been on time had THEY given me the proper entrance information. I ended up sobbing hysterically in the reception area because it was late on a Friday & I did not want to risk being in pain all weekend. No one cared and they did nothing to rectify the situation. When I asked if Iroku could see me for the last 10 mins before his next appointment they claimed he was already with another patient, which made no sense! How could that be if there is a 15-minute grace period? And no one walked in while I was waiting, except his 3:30pm patient, who would've been AFTER me. And what kind of doctor would leave a patient in pain & tears? What kind of good HUMAN BEING would do so? This was a truly awful experience and it is clear to me that these doctors are not spending enough time with their patients. 15 minutes is not enough time to thoroughly vet what is going on with patients, especially not new ones. I wish I had gone with my initial gut and kept researching other doctors instead of letting myself be talked into booking an appointment with this awful man. The only good thing is the cruelty shown to me by this awful place and this doctor means I likely dodged a bullet. Avoid the 535 5th Ave office which is actually on 44th St between Madison and 5th at all costs. Hopefully, the William St office is not as badly run.
