Dr. Wolff is the best. He listens to you. He's compassionate. He is thorough when discussing your Care Plan. And if you look at him long enough you might mistake him for Justin Timberlake (He's been told this btw). He is so friendly and he's pretty good at remembering who you are so you don't feel like you're going to become just another patient in the crowd. His office is located a block away from Grand Central Station so it's pretty easy to get to him. The check in process was a bit confusing to me. I entered one office to check in and the was told to go to another office where I was being expected. When I walked into that office, they had no idea who I was and I had to repeat the process of answering check in question all over again. If Dr. Wolff schedules you for a procedure, it will likely be downtown at Liberty Endoscopy. His staff there is very efficient and on the ball with time management. After prep, Dr. Wolff comes in for a short but sincere chat on what will be happening, how you're feeling, and time to give answers to any questions you might have. The next time you see him, it will be in the OR and he explains everything to you again as well as make sure you are okay. I love that he is so genuine putting his patients first. He or his anesthesiologist will guide you into lullaby land as you drift off to oblivion. And then you wake up to find that everything is done. The Doc comes back to discuss his findings with you after you've had time to shake off the sleepiness. My Gastroenterologist is better than yours...lol. read more

Dr. Martin Wolff is an amazingly precise diagnostician who happens to be an exemplary human being. His dignified yet never haughty comportment enkindles a brilliantly inclusive bedside manner which is elusive in medical and other societal practices. He knows how to treat people with respect and is not given to false humility. I took a family member who depends on me to find the best and the brightest. Upon noticing how we came from the outer boroughs to Manhattan (in the midst of congestion pricing deliberations), he was sincerely moved. Few medical professionals I have come across have that mortal decorum meant to be experienced rather than acknowledged. In the process, your immediate respect and admiration inspires you not to hide anything in terms of symptomatology. He is not judgmental and knows how to listen with caring intelligence and generosity of spirit. His assistant Iris is also a human gem who does not make you feel like a fixed entity within the four occasionally controversial white walls known as the "doctor's office." I can't rave enough about the care I received on my first visit with Dr. Wolff. I had been seeing another gastroenterologist who I thought was above average prior to seeing Dr. Wolff. How wrong I was. I spent months with chronic diarrhea and weight loss. Tons of tests were performed with no diagnosis nor relief in sight. Dr. Wolff reviewed all my procedures and test results, asked many probing questions and listened well. He concluded that I had IBS (for which there are no real tests) and prescribed two medications. Today is Day One after seeing Dr. Wolff. After taking only one pill each of the meds, my diarrhea is already 60% improved. I will never be able to thank Dr. Wolff enough not only for his skilled ability to make a diagnosis but also for his kindness and compassion - traits sorely missing in the medical profession today. read more

Just had my first appointment with Dr. Wolff and it was a surprisingly pleasant experience! He was very personable in assessing my need for a colon cancer screening at 40 because of family history, gently nudged me to encourage family members to get screened, and clearly explained the process I would expect during the actual screening. I work in healthcare and he is very "patient-centered" not just in his bedside manner but also in that he sends consult notes back to my primary care provider, makes them available on the patient portal so I have them electronically, and is happy to send my lab results to any other specialists I request. He also was good-natured about me saying that he looked really young. I know people may get offended when you say that to them when they're in a position of authority. He was very passionate about his job when I asked why he chose GI as a specialty and he was the first provider to point out my fibroid, which he detected during the physical exam. None of my other providers (PCP, OBGYN, fibroid surgeon) ever had me feel it before. This strengthened my trust in his holistic approach to treatment, idk why... Maybe because he was helping me get to know my body? Maybe I'm unnecessarily surprised that he would know anatomy beyond my GI track? While this might be normal, I also appreciated that he made sure I was draped and covered modestly during the physical exam. I prefer female doctors because I feel discomfort being undressed in front of male doctors, so this level of attention put me at great ease. The front desk person is lovely and cheerful. She sits with her back to the front but has a mirror so she always turns around to greet you when you're checking in or returning forms. This meant a lot since I didn't have to awkwardly call her name each time I approached the desk. I forgot my insurance card but she gave me an email so I could send it to her. She was also discreet in letting me know my credit card was declined. The MA is excellent at drawing blood. She checks in to see if you're nervous about needles and is very calm about the entire process. Plus, I have very difficult veins to draw from and she did it EASILY. Basically, the quickest I've had it done in a while, and I've had several blood draws in the past few years. I am planning to send my husband for his GI issues and would highly recommend... Though I've yet to have the actual colon cancer screening procedure, so full review TBD and maybe a year away. Note: if there's a chance you're pregnant, bring this up since it affects the colonoscopy timeline, I.e. you have to wait until after you give birth to have the procedure. read more

Dr. Wolff is the epitome of what we hope for - and rarely find - when we seek medical attention. His office felt more like a gentle, welcoming retreat than an inquisition room. He is thoroughly professional and genuinely empathetic at the same time. It's​ uncomfortable​ to describe certain symptoms. But Dr. Wolff patiently listened and maintained eye contact as he took notes. He paid attention when I spoke, and answered my questions straightforwardly. Dr. Wolff ordered a few tests - and personally shared results with me as soon as he received them. He switched my meds, with a more conservative and holistic approach. He even followed up to see how I was feeling. Within weeks, my symptoms improved, and my quality of life has also vastly improved. They should clone this guy. read more

I found Dr Wolfe after being referred to his group of IBD specialists by a close friend. I had been seeing another Gastroenterologist for a few months following my diagnosis of Ulcerative Colitis, but I was only getting worse. My doctor wouldn't answer my questions, he would have me waiting for hours and his staff wasn't the most pleasant. Then I went to see Dr Wolff, WOW!!! Totally different experience. Office was clean nicely decorated, the front office staff, Sarah was his receptionist, was so pleasant to deal with and there was almost no wait. Dr Wolff listened to every word without cutting us off or interrupting, like my previous Dr used to do. After we were done he proposed some tests and immediately modified my medication. Almost immediately I felt better. He also called to see how I was feeling, something my previous doctors NEVER did. So happy I found him..
