I asked for help to locate her room and the staff was so friendly and helpful. It was wonderful to see how well taken care of the residents were. I noticed great effort was given to provide an atmosphere where the residents felt included in social events and activities. I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the facility and how well it was maintained. I was given a tour of the property and the grounds were very well kept. I saw leisurely activities the residents could take part in, as well as spaces for family members to come and celebrate with them. Afterwards, I ate at one of their cafe's and really enjoyed the lunch. Everywhere I went, the staff was so friendly. It had the feel of being home. If I had to refer someone to a nursing/residential facility, this would be the place.

The entire Rehab Team created a caring environment with an impeccably high standard of care, delivered with warmth to my mother when she was admitted after a fall. I was impressed by the Team's manners and compassion, something you rarely find these days. Not one of my questions or concerns went unanswered. The staff demonstrated total commitment into caring for my mother. There were specific individuals who offered exceptional dedication and outstanding professional performance, as well as compassion, understanding, and caring. The Village at Summerville is an institution unique in its compassion for its residents.

My rent is still below the market rate. Arlene forgot to tell you in her review of South Bay that when she had damage to her apartment, South Bay put her up in a nearby hotel until the damage was repaired and she could move back into her apartment. Retirement living is at it's best in South Bay. So many activities, good dining, and interesting programs to stimulate the mind. Of all the moves during my 80+ years, moving to South Bay is the best!

Last year, we were assessed a 10% rent increase, and they are doing that again this year, ostensibly to "bring everyone up to market prices". In the meantime, this has caused long-time residents to move out, rather than face an additional $2,000 a month rent. The property can do this, because it has a long waiting list of potential renters, to whom they could charge a higher rent. This policy has caused a great disruption in the resident community, as long time residents move out. The building and grounds, which are lovely, are not being maintained. The common areas are getting shabby, and the lawns are rutted with bare patches. Hallway carpets, except for the first floor, are soiled and need replacing. Residents have leaks and other problems to the original sub+par construction. Showers don't drain and holes develop. There is a humidity problem throughout the buildings. There are very few accessible options, such as self opening doors, even though there are many residents who use mobile accessories. In 2025, when Mount Pleasants's moratorium on apartments expires, SouthBay will begin construction on more units, , subjecting the current residents to great noise for the next few tears.

But after 9 days of my mother-in-law being at the Commons we took her out!!! The staff are very inexperienced with the special needs that my mother-in-law requires, she has dementia and gastroparesis, which requires a very special diet. On the first day she was there they gave her foods she could not eat. The staff played on their phones every time I visited her in the short time of 9 days. They never welcomed her to make her feel at home and when we went to visit she would be crying and she would say take me home. Well with that being said we got her home to find bruises on her backside and bruised up and down her arms. Please, please before you put your loved one in a facility think twice. Left a bad taste in my mouth as we expected a bit more compassion for my mother-in-law. She is in her own home now with a live in nurse and security cameras and happy. So if you ask me how was her stay at Savannah Commons?? Awful!!!

**Subject: URGENT: Immediate Action Required Regarding Resident Care and Safety**…read more Dear Ms. Susan, Teresa, and Jackie, We are writing to you with extreme concern regarding the ongoing situation at The Claiborne. As of 8:49 a.m. this morning, May 31, we were informed that no staff reported to breakfast. Most critically, memory care residents--who require priority attention--are not being fed. This is an emergency situation. We are requesting immediate transparency and an all-hands-on-deck response from management at every level to ensure essential meals are provided to the residents immediately. Given these critical lapses in basic care, we strongly urge you to suspend the intake of any new residents. Your primary focus must shift entirely to meeting the fundamental needs--specifically the nutritional requirements and safety--of your current residents. Our parents have been in your facility for 12 days, and they are currently hungry, exhausted, and distressed. We expect an immediate update on how this is being resolved and what steps are being taken to guarantee this does not happen again. Respectfully, Noah and Devin Denton The Paul and Emily Starry Family
