I booked an appointment that was cancelled just 30 minutes before my scheduled time because the stylist called out of work. The salon tried to reschedule me with another stylist, but since that stylist was a higher level, they wanted to charge me more even though they cancelled, not me. I understand things happen, but it's really disappointing that the salon didn't honor my original price or offer any sort of accommodation for the inconvenience. I made an appointment with Logan and he was very thoughtful. He took time to understand my hair type and look needs. I have been traveling to Surrey, BC to get my hair done since I have very thin hair and have a specific layer style that works for me. I got a middle stylist as the "top" one was unavailable, last minute. I could tell instantly that she wasn't paying attention to what I was saying. I should have gone with my intuition, looking at pictures all they mostly do is cut, foil, and I have to hand it to them- they know how to use a flat iron OR a curling iron on a certain age group, Applause! BBBBBoring. The vibe I got from this "stylist" was she only did one hair cut And was not interested in what worked for me. This girl THINNED OUT MY HAIR TO MAKE IT "SCRUNCH". OMG. She loaded the product on, not explaining what she was piling on. My hair is naturally wavy/curly. I scrunch a good sculpting lotion on and slowly dry it - a diffuser could have been used - but no. I was in shock, especially when I washed goopy product out only to find out it was not layered at all. IT WAS THINNED! Like a 'reverse layering'. I WILL NEVER GO BACK. AND I WILL SPREAD THE WORD. The atmosphere is upbeat welcoming and overall just wonderful.. throughout the years ive never had a bad experience there. Hands down the most attentive and caring person who makes me feel amazing! Well yesterday the manager of Daniel Ross, Jess, decided to fire her instead of provide a coaching opportunity with the new COVID-19 protocols. I can definitely say that I will NEVER frequent Daniel Ross Salon again! The fact that they're trying to cover up this blatant wrongful termination by blocking me and other clients while deleting our commentary is 100% admission of guilt. I have referred by a friend after she got a partial balayage and since I have never gone to a stylist before, I decided to try it here and loved the experience! Amanda was great! She suggested layers (love!!) after I told her I've only ever gotten blunt haircuts and did great with the color after looking at a couple reference pictures. She was very detail oriented, explained to me what she was doing throughout the entire process, and was super friendly and caring (checking in on how I was doing). She let me ask her a lot of newbie questions about hair care since I have never styled my hair and she was very knowledgable! I asked her for advice on how to take care of my frizzy hair and waves and she happily recommended different products to help with both these concerns and color protection (she also told me what NOT to use). Love this salon! I have been seeing Jackie since 2016 and I am always extremely impressed with her ability to give me exactly what I want every time. I box dyed my hair when I was younger, and she helped me transition flawlessly to having my roots grown out and more natural. It's expensive. I am a student and a barista so I don't have the money to go as much as I should. However, she understands that and colors my hair in a way that lets me drag it out until I'm able to come back. I always get compliments on my hair and I will continue to see her for all my hair needs! The atmosphere is beautiful and they also offer water or ask if you need anything. The quality of their customer service has declined substantially. They wiil book you for an appointment many weeks in advance and then cancel at the very last minute. I've had it happen three times this year. Each time I was getting my hair done for a special trip or other occasion with no time to make other arrangements. They offered no other options, just "sorry we can't fit you in ". They do not care about their customers or their employees. Many of their best, long term stylist have left disgruntled about how badly they were treated and how little regard they have for their customers. You cannot count on them. Horrific experience. Low end salon marketed as premium. Poor leadership and management. I asked for a balayage but was surface painted and they foiled the front, and left with a solid brown tail. I looked like storm from the X-Men. Then humiliated and asked to pay to fix it, their attempt at fixing it left a horizontal stripe. Just awful. Came here on a recommendation from a friend and was excited to get my long overdue haircut. Upon arrival I checked in and waited for my stylist. Since there was no place to sit due to COVID I stood and waited. My stylist Alyssa arrived and was super friendly. She asked me what I wanted and gave me a great cut. I was very pleased with the result. However, the entire time I was getting my hair cut there was a man sitting in a bench next to me waiting for his mom. It was uncomfortable having him sitting there watching me. It was also not very COVID safe and I feel someone should have made him move. When I went to pay I was extremely bothered to learn they did not take American Express which was surprising in a "high end" salon. I only use Amex so don't think I'll be back. read more

Had a fantastic first visit yesterday afternoon with Jenna for a root touch up. I'm a solid 90% gray and it's been hard to find someone I've felt comfortable with since moving here, and Jenna really came through. The stylist didn't listen. She said no more than 10 words the entire time from start to finish. (If you're ticked off about something let it go before you chop someone's hair!) My haircut was horrible. She used thinning shears to try and hide some of the chops. Got so aggressive that when I put my head on the pillow that night in bed my short hairs here and there from the thinning shears actually poked my scalp. She may have been disappointed that I didn't want color, highlights, or anything to raise the bill. I work at a large store nearby and will continue to warn customers not to go there. Just by my haircut they could see it's not a place for them. I'm sure many have listened. I've steered several customers to another salon whose stylists actually know how to cut a straight line. All I was asking for was a bob. Nothing with layers, but I got them! And frizzy ends from dull shears. They had so many reasons to not give me a refund. From another stylist to "fix it" to next cut would be on them. I think not. Thank you, but no. Keep your money. You've lost a lot more than the $80 you kept from me. Lots of customers. read more

I went in for a medium long shag, and left with a choppy uneven mullet. I had shoulder length hair going in and it's 4 inches on the top of my head with 80s layers. Stylist made a mistake and didn't know how to fix it! she just kept cutting. I was there for 2 hours!! Very relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The waiting area provides refreshments to be enjoyed while you wait for your hair appointment. Front desk staff is very welcoming and is punctual in their data collection (in regards to appointments), they also offer walk-in's with a variety of levels to suite your style and variation of hair style. My experience getting a haircut as a male, as you don't see many male customers in this establishment which is by no means a blemish. However it was done very well and the prices were very good and modest. Would recommend this haircut place if you want a little style in your life. read more

I love this place!!!! From the moment I walked in I had a great experience. There was complimentary water, tea, and cookies. The salon was clean and overall just a great environment. I barely ever get my hair cut and I always have had long hair. I decided to donate my hair and cut mine into a soft bob. I scheduled my appointment with Emily who is a level 3 stylist. She did an amazing job of making me feel comfortable, offering suggestions when I wasn't quite sure of what I wanted, and overall she is just so pleasant and talented. My hair is SO CUTE. In March I had a 'consult' for tape in extensions with Emily. Both before and during the consultation I explained that I have had tape in extensions prior and know the process. Needless to say, the consultation still took place, Emily was lovely and friendly, we choose two great match colors and I looked forward to my appointment which would be scheduled in May. It is now May, I attempted to schedule my appointment, only to be told that Emily is no longer there :( - That being said, the receptionist stated that Emily had referred me to a different stylist, I stated that that was GREAT & when can I schedule the extensions appointment?? The receptionist then stated that I had to have ANOTHER CONSULT with the new stylist?!? Seriously disappointing, I have to 'waste' another hour or so of my time to REPEAT what has already been done/said - Honestly, this is horrible service. If it is noted that Emily referred me to someone, then it is noted what color match, etc., it would be ridiculous and a waste of both our time to do a second consult, however she stated that this is the ONLY way to move forward. Some services I received were below average; prices are very high, availability of a cosmetologist is VERY low, and obligations on the part of the salon to correct their (very expensive) mistakes just happen to magically expire all so quickly! Jenna gave me a foil & over processed it. My hair turned out gray. I tried to schedule appointment 2 weeks later to fix it. Because of her inability to be there because of her many medical issues I wasn't able to get in for 5 weeks. I went in to get it fixed 5 weeks later & she was told me that I would have to pay for a rework. First of all why would I repay to have my hair fixed by someone who ruined it but why would I need to pay after her many medical problems. I wouldn't let her color my cats hair. This place has redeemed itself for me. The last 2 visits I've had have all been absolutely fantastic. I also referred my boyfriend to come here, and he has now come in twice. My last visit for a hair appointment was with Riley and she was super friendly and helpful with all my questions. She did a fantastic cut and style for me, and taught me a new technique to curl my hair. My boyfriend also saw her on his second visit and was impressed with the cut he got, and she was able to show him how to style it in way he understood and also recommend a great product for him. My boyfriends first visit was with Holly. Unfortunately he did not enjoy that experience and his hair was not cut evenly, he was rather disappointed. But I convinced him to give the place another shot and he did, like I said, and was impressed the second time around and will return again. My second appointment was for a Bikini Wax. I had never had one before and was rather nervous. Omg. Crystal was amazing. She talked to me the entire time and kept me distracted, and the entire process didn't take very long. I was in no pain during or after the wax. It was not even close to what I expected. She made me feel so comfortable, never felt awkward at any time. I have been a customer of this place since 2014. I went in for my root touch up, I have the same appointment every 6 - 8 weeks. Did the exact same thing I have been doing for almost 4 years now and paid for my services. I take the last appointment of the day and by the time I leave I am half asleep. I usally get up at 3:30 am due to my work. Next day when I picked up my hair I notice the small hairs around the hairline are still grey. These are the same hairs the stylist and I discussed how frustrating they are. I thought nothing of it and three days later I went in and talked to the manager and told her what happened. Thinking she was going to take care of it, I told her to just give me the spray ($20) to cover them up because I was recovering from a back injury and couldn't sit. I still had my ER bracelet one when I went in. She looked at me and told me sorry but there was nothing she could do. I paid for a root touch up and foil and they forgot the touch-up. Needless to say, I was annoyed. Here I am standing with my husband's help, having to come in because they needed to see it and she tells me I must not have told them what I wanted. I told her to see how much I paid and see what I got. I asked her to have the store manager call me. She said she would call me the following day. After a month I called and asked for the store manager again and the same "manager " came on the line and she said she had already told the store manager to call me but she was in a meeting and very busy. "So for a month this lady has been in a meeting and has had no time to call me?" She said yes. Okay at this point I knew I was dealing with someone who just didn't care. I let her know I was done coming here. I have dealt with many mistakes over the years, to me and the 6 members of my family that go here. I was done letting convenience decided where I got my hair done. This company doesn't ever take any responsibility for their mistakes. I wasn't asking for much. The lack of respect for me as a long time loyal client meant nothing to them. I am sad I wasted so much time and money on this company. I had no idea what true professional stylist was until I went to Gene Juarez. They are just $20 more and the quality of service is AMAZING! This used to be at once a good place. But not anymore. The front desk is always rotating staff which means you get people who don't know what they are doing. Stylist asking me to straighten my hair to make it easier for them to dye it and making me leave with dripping wet hair because they are out of time to finish what they charge for at the price. read more

I went in to get my 11 year old hairs done because she was part of my neice's wedding. I was charged 70 dollars for less then 10 minutes of her being in the chair...within an hour her hair had completely fallen out of her loose braid and curls and by picture/wedding time I wanted to cry. I really wanted to love this salon. It's close to my house and beautiful, but the the staff are unprofessional. After having a weird miscommunication with a stylist that left me without my hair done for an event, I decided to give this place another try. I arranged for childcare and made another appointment with a different stylist three weeks out. The night before (at 7:30) the salon called me and told me that the stylist I was booked with quit without giving notice that day. I'm sure some of this is beyond their control, but I can't help but wonder why she would quit so abruptly? Nevertheless, they were unable to see me the next day or for the next two weeks. I can only surmise that this is the universe telling me that this is not the place for me. If you decide to try this place out I wish you luck, but have a back up plan in mind. read more

2nd update! I have received nasty voicemails from the "ladies" at this salon after I posted my review. Stop! Don't make yourselves look even worst. I went in for a bad hair cut and a whole lot of trouble now with people spamming me with nasty messages. See this salons photos to see the replies. Ask yourself, how does product get inside the ear all the way in? I've had my hair colored a handful of times and I've never heard of such thing at any salon. On top of that I had black spots all over my forehead and ears, chin and sides of my cheeks. I was a mess. They ruined my make up which I had professionally done before and Olivia didn't offer to even clean the spots. She said, just take a shower when you get home"? Hello...! I'm headed to an appt and I'm going to show up like this? It's almost noon and I took a shower this morning why would I have to take another. This has never ever happened to me at any other salon. On top of that the ladies at the front desk knowing I had spots just ignored them and we're ready to let me go out of of there without saying anything or offering. To help me? That's when I had to ask for a manager but she was no help. She went and got this harsh chemical that irritated my skin but the stains were still there except now o had red dry and irritated skin and black hair dye was still visible. No commons sense here. She cleaned my face way too hard it hurt my skin. I was trying to hard to be nice about it but she didn't care that the spots were there and now my fave was red in different spots. Wow! I could not believe how careless they were. The manager didn't offer me any moisturizer seeing my skin was so irritated. She didn't offer to fix my make up either. There went $100 to the trash for the professional make up I had done that morning. Then when I asked for a refund she laughed and made me feel as if I was trying to take advantage of them. I wasn't, I simply didn't want to pay a $160 bill when this were the results. I deeply regret ever walking into his salon. They have no class. I got nothing but bad wishes and then calling me a lier. I have photos and video to prove it which I won't post only because I fear for my safety from this women. One of them even said that they are not "catty"? Well, why are you all hitting the "compliment" button to send nasty messages to me? I should approve them and embarrass you all.
