WRONG TOOTH - ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY Attached shows an obviously massive infection just above tooth #3, the tooth that was SUPPOSED to be treated. I was referred to him by my general dentist specifically for tooth #3 (in writing). Here is an exact quote from an email Dr Sayman sent to my general dentist "Lesion is huge and maxillary sinus is affected. THE PLAN IS TO REMOVE CROWN T#3 and evaluate for cracks. I told her prognosis of T#3 is guarded. She is willing to try." I had a long consultation where we spoke in great detail about the infection and possible risks. He stated that there was a chance the retreatment may fail (= extraction). I was fine with proceeding despite the risk because of the pain. He briefly mentioned #2 may also need a root canal, but emphasized how #3 was causing my chief complaints and how we would proceed with the treatment of #3. Despite all of this - he performed a root canal on the OTHER tooth (#2) The mistake wasn't the most egregious part. It was the fact he didn't care and took ZERO responsibility once he was aware. As soon as I left & noticed I calmly called. Finally his assistant said he was gone for the weekend. He only returned my calls after my husband found out what occurred & called saying we would consult an attorney. Once he did speak to me- instead of owning up to what was IN WRITING TWICE (stating tooth #3 would be treated). He dismissively asked me if I knew his "credentials" and told me he was in surgery and couldn't be bothered... My appt ended before lunch & he left the office for the weekend without calling??? I had no explicit indication or even implied reason that another tooth would take precedence. He gave a brief reason (which other endodontists disagreed with) only AFTER the fact & did not reply to any follow up questions. I'm not saying I wouldn't have eventually addressed any issues w/ the other tooth. However, #3 was the priority and needed treatment urgently. Dental insurance has max benefit amounts it will pay per year. So I was well aware a single root canal + crown would exceed that. There was zero obscurity in the treatment plan. His mistake cost me thousands- as I was not able to delay treatment on the #3, but I could've briefly delayed treatment on #2 into the new year. My experience with this office was equivalent to calling a plumber because your house is flooding and them fixing a leaky faucet instead. I believe practitioners should be compensated for their time, but I also believe any competent practitioner would have offered to do the correct root canal for free or at least at a discount. They didn't even have the empathy to offer me dental financing knowing that after performing work on the wrong tooth I'd be out over 3k (including the crown). I immediately saw another endodontist who was floored that this occurred. Although the subsequent Dr had no fault in this mistake, the new Dr felt so bad that he did discount my treatment for the appropriate tooth, despite me not asking (or fishing) for a discount. I have consulted with several dentists and endodontists since (with imaging)- and not one of them could justify not treating the infected painful tooth first (despite a chance for failure). Whether treatment be through a root canal or extraction, it had to be addressed. This happened several years ago. I wrote this then, but never submitted it for a few reasons: I was considering legal action. It's stressful to relive. I didn't want to cause drama for my referring dentist who has since moved. I have an expertise on insurances related to healthcare. I also received a doctorate by the age of 22. As a healthcare professional myself, I know mistakes happen. This is relevant because so many complaints stem from patients not understanding their treatment plan, the system, their coverage, or costs. This was not my situation. The more I work with outstanding providers- the more glaring how truly negligent Dr Sayman was. His lack of accountability upon becoming aware of his error was shameful. I was referred to Dr. Sayman by my present Dentist, I had a root canal and crown done by a different dentist a year prior and she botched it up and only cleaned 2 of the 3 roots. I have been having discomfort for over a year and when I went to get my teeth cleaned and a checkup my Dentist informed me that there is help for me and referred me to Dr. Sayman. I called Dr. Sayman's office and received an appointment for the following day. When I nervously arrived at Dr. Sayman's office I was greeted by an extremely friendly woman and a very clean waiting room. Within a few short minutes I was shown to a dental chair in a meticulously clean room and offered a remote to the TV so I could choose what I wanted to watch. Shortly after a dental assistant came in and took x-rays etc. Dr. Sayman then came in and explained my options. To make a long story short Dr. Sayman saved my tooth, arrested the infection and was able to clean the uncleaned infected root, without having to remove my crown. He did this by drilling a very small hole in the top of the crown and working on the tooth while looking through a microscope. The things I noticed the most about my visit were these. I was the only person in the office while the doctor was attending to me; therefore he was not in a hurry to cycle in the next patient that meant my problem was getting all of his time and attention. Dr. Sayman was not only very knowledgeable but he is super friendly and personable, it's also very obvious he enjoys doing what he does and helping people. The Doctors assistant and the woman at the front desk were also very friendly and accommodating. I have never been to a cleaner office. Lastly there were no hidden fees or costs, I was quoted an amount and that was all I paid. Dr. Sayman decided to do my procedure in two visits instead of one because he wanted to be absolutely sure the infection was eradicated and my cost did not change because of this extra visit. Oh I almost forgot, one of the most important things, I did not feel an iota of pain at either of the visits. Dr. Sayman was a magician at administering the Novocain or whatever he used to alleviate the pain. I highly recommend this specialist, you will not be disappointed. Hopefully, knock on wood, I will never need his services again, but if I do ever need another root canal or other dental surgery, Dr. Sayman is the first person I will call. read more

I am reviewing their ability to handle very tough cases. Many doctors would have let me linger in pain, but Dr. Sayman and his team were the most responsive dental professionals ever. -------- My dentist sent me to Dr. Sayman's office because I had a complicated case at tooth #2 (whatever that means) She said he was the best and I would be in great hands. Mind you, I've never had a root canal before, so I came into the office extremely apprehensive. First: The staff is professional. This can be a rarity in Miami. They called to follow up on my schedule, and confirmed the procedure requested by my general dentist. The office is very nice, extremely clean, and has a great view of the beach. The actual procedure was painless. Again my case was extremely difficult. I also hate the feeling of not being able to breathe. They were accommodating in letting me avoid the bite block and let me sit up every few minutes. Hours later the pain kicked in. Because my tooth was so damaged before the canal the pain was unbearable. I called the doctor, half expecting them to just brush me off. Instead they called in pain medication and asked me to call again in the morning. The pain was worse, but before I could call I was called in the morning by the office to see how I was doing. They then sent me to the pharmacy and get antibiotics. I started feeling better immediately. The office called me twice a day for the next few days and even had me come in for a 360 image just to confirm I was A ok. I feel great now. I knew I messed up by not taking care of the problem sooner. The service was 5 stars, but I think how they handled me post procedure was the real testament to their service. Four years ago I was walked into Dr. Sayman's office in excruciating pain and in urgent need of a root canal. I had no insurance and barely a penny to my name. He didn't think twice about figuring out a way to help me. He immediately recognized that I was terrified and hurting and went out of his way to make sure I was comfortable and calm. Without batting an eye, he gave me a powerful anesthesia and sedatives and began working on my infected tooth. It was so bad, I needed two sessions to correct the problem. I visited Dr Danni this week to get advise on my tooth pain. I had already seen a general dentist who said I needed an implant but eventually said perhaps a root canal. I went to the endodontist recommended because he had a more sophisticated machine that could get a 360 degree view. He could not find the crack but said he could do a root canal anyway. This did not make sense to me. Then I found Dr Sayman and quickly set up an appointment. He said the most sophisticated imaging machine in MB and could see minute cracks, etc. The office is quite comfortable and the secretary quite pleasant. Dr. took the time to understand my situation. He put me through the scanner and let me watch him interpret the results. After maybe 10 minutes he found the cracked tooth. That was good. The bad news was the crack was too big for a root canal and the tooth had to be extracted. This saved me from the cost of a root canal from prior endo which would've only lasted a few weeks/months. So he recommended a general dentist for the extraction. Then in 6 mo I'll need an implant. This experience shows the value of his sophisticated scanner, his diagnostic skills, and ethical value to do what is right even if he does not make money. I'm a New York resident and while my 13 year old son was on vacation with family in Miami, he started experiencing excruciating pain from a front tooth. As it turned out, the cause was likely from a mouth trauma sustained years prior. Needless to say, the entire vacation was about to be jeopardized. A relative in the area referred us to her DDS, who then referred us to Dr. Sayman. He took my son in the same day on an emergency basis. He examined my son and got on the phone with me to explain in detail what needed to be done to alleviate the infection that has set in as well as the procedure that was needed. Thank you Dr Sayman. After 2 months of jarring sensitivity to cold, I can finally drink without wincing! I went for a consultation and found what was causing the problem. It was not "post-dental trauma" as I was told by the dentist who had done the filling. After seeing my "scan" (not x-rays), Dr Sayman was also able to locate a problem that was not causing me problems now but would in the future. I want able to get an appointment and I am halfway through the work that needs to be done. This is actually my second visit to Dr Sayman, as he repaired an infection in my upper gums. I have had a lot of experience with various dentists over the years. I have been traumatized by doctors who performed root canals that were not needed, and this has caused me a great deal of anxiety. Dr. Sayman & his team are WONDERFUL!! I recently had a dental emergency and needed a root canal done immediately on a rather difficult tooth. Due to bacterial infection, my cheek/jaw/gums were extremely swollen and I was in serious pain. I was referred to Dr. Sayman by my amazing dentist for a root canal procedure. It was a very tricky procedure as the nerve was right on the root and thus needed a specialist. As someone with an "expensive mouth" ranging from braces and numerous dental procedures, I knew I was in great hands from the moment I called to make the appointment. You'd be hard pressed to find someone who was more against or more afraid of getting a root canal. But in the end, it was either a root canal or pulling the tooth. I figured I would give saving the tooth a chance. I'm glad I did, and I am so thankful that I found Dr. Sayman on Yelp. I saw a few other endodontists but nobody spent more time with me at an initial visit or made me feel more at ease than Dr. Sayman. On vacation in Miami, a trusted and well-recommended dentist sent me to Dr. Sayman for a likely root canal for excruciating tooth pain. Fearing an unknown endodontist, he told me that Dr. Sayman is careful, reliable and could be trusted not to do an unnecessary procedure. All of that was understated, for Dr. Sayman's care, attention, knowledge and careful diagnosis and treatment resulted in my not needing root canal and resolved my problem--for minimal fees!!!
