Even though I was not his patient and he had a busy schedule, he offered to see me first thing the next morning. The first thing that impressed me was the office itself. It looked so bright, modern, and spotless that I assumed it had just been built. I later learned it was renovated before COVID, but they have clearly maintained it exceptionally well. Dr. Herrera demonstrated a level of professionalism and attention to detail that is hard to find. He took the time to clearly explain the procedure, the risks, and the expected outcome. His team immediately contacted my insurance company and provided a clear explanation of all costs before treatment. I honestly cannot remember experiencing this level of communication and transparency in any medical office in Miami. The procedure itself went smoothly, and I did not feel any pain or discomfort during the root canal. What impressed me even more was the follow-up. After the procedure, the office contacted my dentist directly, sent them the treatment details, and also provided me with a copy of the report and images for my records. On top of that, the office called me multiple times after the procedure to check on my recovery and make sure I was doing well. That level of care is rare and made me feel like a person rather than just another patient on the schedule. I am beyond impressed with Dr. Herrera and his team. From the moment I arrived, the office felt disorganized and unprofessional. The staff was loud and not particularly friendly. I informed them that I had X-rays taken by my longtime dentist only five months earlier, yet they still proceeded to take 12 additional X-rays. I have never had another dental office take that many X-rays during a routine new-patient visit. After waiting approximately 30 minutes, the dentist came in and informed me that I needed nearly $2,000 worth of dental work. This was shocking because I see my regular dentist in New York every six months and had been there only five months ago. None of the problems identified by this office had ever been mentioned to me before. When I questioned the findings and explained that my longtime dentist had never raised these concerns, the dentist responded by saying that my dentist "must be lazy." I found that comment extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. What happened next made me even more uncomfortable. After another lengthy wait, I was brought into a discussion with a staff member who seemed more interested in selling treatment than providing patient care. I felt heavily pressured to move forward immediately and was repeatedly told about the serious consequences of not doing the recommended work right away. The entire conversation felt more like a high-pressure sales pitch than a healthcare consultation. Rather than helping me make an informed decision, I felt like I was being scared into spending money. I declined the treatment and explained that I would be consulting with my regular dentist, whom I have trusted for years. Ironically, despite coming in for nothing more than a routine cleaning, it took over two hours before I finally received one. The cleaning itself was extremely aggressive and painful. I have had countless cleanings throughout my life and have never experienced that level of discomfort during or afterward. I left this office with serious concerns about its approach to patient care.
