The programs assist all the students in exploring and honing their musical abilities --and beyond that, young musicians are able to form meaningful alliances with their bandmates and their instructors. Kids have shared with me that they had been anxious to perform until they were supported and encouraged by their teachers. At School of Rock, these students built the confidence to take the leap to performance!! It is so exciting to see the growth and camaraderie at the seasonal shows! I see it in all the kids!! This included: reading, counting and of course playing- all in and on Time. He taught me everything I needed to know about drums. Of course, I'll never stop learning, but he provided the platform for me to do so. I had a lot of fun, even though at times it felt very challenging, almost out of reach. I'm not sure how many times I said, "I can't do that," and he would just say, "Let's go", and we'd play, and sure enough I was doing it, did it. Self-efficacy at its finest. He just loves music, and he passes that along. He transcribes songs/ musical pieces- writes- has his own published workbook. I think the coolest thing is that he plays along with you! Again, to me, he is the epitome of everything a great teacher needs to possess. The results absolutely come, but the focus is on the process/ learning, in a laser like focused manner. Also, doesn't hurt that he is just a genuinely nice guy, who really cares that you learn and develop as a musician.

My family was very happy with the service we received here last week. Our original intent was to…read morefind a rental violin for Kid2, as well as see what they might have in stock for kid1. Upon entry we were greeted by Omar, the store manager. He immediately sized my daughter, and went to the stock room to find a few that were her size. For a full school year rental of a junior violin, the cost was $90 + $20 service fee (tuning cleaning) + $5 rosin, a total of $115 before tax for 9 months rental ( End Sept to End Oct). Additionally, there is a grace period of 10 days after the final June 20 contract date that you can return the instrument without penalty. That takes a little bit of stress off our backs to rush to the store for the return. Given that Kid2 had never played the violin, but now needed one for school, I appreciated Omar's knowledge and feedback on things we needed, and unnecessary, there was never any pressure or upsell here. Meanwhile, another staff member, Ricky, was patient with Hubs and Kid1 as they were perusing the guitar section. While the store had a nice variety of full size acoutic & electric guitars, they only had 1 type of junior-size guitar ($79 in 2 colors, red & blue). Both Omar & Ricky were very patient with all my questions, and even allowed me to see what they had in stock when I asked about accordians (which, FYI, they generally do not carry new, and they only have old accordians in stock to sell AS-IS). We were happy with the service we received at this store. Highly recommend them if you're in need of a rental instrument, especially for kids.

He breaks it down into little skills and he guides you on your technique with course corrections because he knows what habits you need to develop and which behaviors you need to avoid. He also gets to know what kind of music you like so he can steer you in that direction as well as give you the foundations of other styles of music that will help you. He gives you homework and he will help you with it between lessons and he's very encouraging with positive feedback. He also knows multiple ways to play each note or chord which is helpful when you are learning how to move cords or how to develop the muscles in your hands.
